I did a search on this topic and didnt find any good results, so here goes...

i thought id start a thread posting all the cars that cant be used in a race with other cars in it (like a 2-player battle or ai race)

here are the ones ive found so far:

Caterham Fireblade
Benz Patent Motor-Wagen
Daimler Motor Carriage
Chrysler Prowler
Toyota Motor Triathlon racecar
Nike One
Jay Leno Tank Car
Auto Union V16 Type C Streamliner '37
Ford Model T


NOTE:I will update the list with any further discoveries and reports.

EDIT: changed the title to be a bit more clear on the subject.
 
well you can ride it... you just cant race it against anyone... so if you are able to have fun on your own (hehehe) just go ahead and buy it anyway... i hear its a hoot to drive...

btw. where can you find this car in arcade mode?
i cant seem to find it even tho i have won it in GTmode
 
Ok, what i mean by this topic is of course cars that cannot be used in races in GTmode AND in 2 player battles...

some of the cars that can be used in 1v1 arcade still cannot be used in 2 player battles.
 
whats the point of having cars u cant race !

I had a ride in a Cateram7 round silverstone with a professional driver, was soo good sliding round the corners etc, got to 130mph down the hanger straight, was soo smooth didnt seem as fast.

So i bought the caterham7 as soon as pos coz i wanted to race it as it was my first real racing exp and now i cant race it !! that suks.... not even in arcade mode?? in GT3 u could import your gararge into the arcade mode....
 
well iirc you can still race it in arcademode (and you dont need to import the garage, when you buy it, it is unlocked in arcademode) but only against a single opponent...

but i might be wrong on this... i havent bought the car myself yet...
 
for information... do a search on the nike car for ore detailed info:

the reason most of these cars cannot be used in this game because of the amount of pixels they use. most of these use about 2 to 3 times the amount used for other cars (which in equal add up to three extra cars), therefore add that to 5 other cars on the track and you PS2 will explode (which also explains why polyphony only puts 6 cars on any given track, no more)

i think GT4 has hit the limit on the PS2's potential, which is why some features i would have loved are not included in the game. im pretty much sure GT5 will have all this these cars AND more features included.
 
yup... aaaaaaand just to repeat myself (like a broken record) what im looking for here are cars that cannot be used in a race (with 5 opponents) and/or in pvp mode (thats 2player mode for you noobs out there)

considering theres a ton of cars in this game, people (including myself) are still trying to find them all, but read the first post for some examples :rolleyes:

was hoping to use the Caterham in the British lightweight championship, was gutted after splashing £60K on it to find I couldn't race it, still won the championship in my lightened Griffith 500 instead
