Cars you test drove

Bollocks#999-> Lucky you... :irked: (envy)

Moon Light Kid-> I'm still looking forward to test drive an Evo... (still hoping)

Part 3, almost done. :)

Whats the sad face for, Alot of people wish they could do that.

Because i'm 21 and haven't really been in much else (only driven about eight cars in my life).

Part 3

2003 Subaru Impreza WRX sedan M/T (Findlay Subaru, Henderson, NV)
009868-E.jpg
.
->This car is very impressive! This car handles just the way you like it, but understreers at limit. The seat are teriffic it sorta grabs you and stay there, the cars interiors atmosphere is kinda drab so plain and dark, making you not drive the car always. Boost comes at 3500 rpm in which it takes time getting used to, but when boost comes in, its a joy. I'd rather have this than the SRT-4, at least you can take it anywhere because its a 4WD.

2004 Dodge (Neon) SRT-4 (Towbin Dodge, Henderson, NV)
023942-E.jpg

->For those who want cheap straight line speed and thats it, well heres your car. The SRT-4 does nothing more than going fast at the 1/4 mi. the interior is bad and cheap (I like the standard turbo boost gauge thou), the front door is very hard to reach (and I'm 6'3), and it doesn't handle as what I've been expecting for a performance car like this. The seats are well supported and the shift knob is round, shiny and cute. And of course, the turbo lag is far the worst I've ever driven in a turbocharged car, below 3700 rpm it drive just like my Protege5, but after that BOOOOSSSSSTTT!!! I'm sorry to say that this car fails to impress me.

For now on, it will be two at a time.

Be back for Part 4... :)

The Vanishing Boy
^ Yes its a very different engine. But I'm not very familiar on Nissan's engines and their specs.

I like the Evo RS with the 'Urban Protection Package', it has all those luxury packages like A/C, power windows, locks, etc. It has the sleeper image of the RS but 25% of the standard version's (aka. GSR) packaging, plus its still lighter than the GSR w/o the sunroof. :)
I think it's the urban comfort package... whatever.

Anyways, temperatures around here rarely exceed 100 in the summer months, so no A/C is quite tolerable.

100 only? Psshh, here in Vegas we just hit 106 today, and thats nothing when August comes (it can top out at 125).

No A/C is ok, if you're used to it. My 'teg doesn't have A/C (broken compressor) and somehow I can tolerate the heat (since I came from a tropical country).

And also, if you have a chick with you, then A/C is a must. :)

I think most of the people here haven't test driven a car or too shy expressing their opinions.

Now, why would I make a chick put up with an Evo RS to begin with, let alone a non-AC? I'll probably have a Golf 1.9 TDi for my everyday car and an Evo 8 RS for my weekend car, if I get the money. But that's still far off in the future, right now the job is getting the RA60 in decent shape so when I get my permit at 16 it'll be half decent :D

Nice! 👍
Is that th Vitz RS, good photography there.

Part 4

2002 Misubishi Lancer ES A/T [Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Las Vegas]
026016-E.jpg

->This car is very roomy and quiet. The frame is rigid and stable, the engine response is far better than the Scion tC I test drove last week (more about it soon). Although the engine is torquier than my Protege5, the engine on the weak side. The handling is wallowy but smooth and very absorbant against bumps. Overall this car is so-so compared to the Elantra, Corolla, and even my Protege5, but its far better than the Expedition when it comes to drivability.

2003 Mazda Protege5 M/T [Courtesy Imports, Henderson, NV]
=The car I end up with (supposed to the Mazda3)=
006954-E.jpg

->This car is very slow off the line, in fact it doesn't even feel it has 130HP. The tires are subpar and noisy (if pushed to the limit) despire of it aggressive-looking alloys, handing is stable and smooth during normal driving heavy understeer at limit. The interior is roomy and comfirtable and its one of the best seats I've ever sat on (makes you feel relaxed and settled). Power steering response is slow, so don't expect this car to be an autocrosser, although the steering ratio is on the quicker side. For middle-aged people, this car is impressive, but if you look for some spirted driving, then forget it.

Victor V.-> What is the RA60? My weekend car will be my old Integra, and my Forester 2.5XT will be my everyday wagon. :)

RX8- fun, comfortable car, could use a bit more torque.

mazdaspeed mx-5 Fast and tossible, but too small for me.

My Dad test drove the Sienna LE (we're going for XLE, but all of those were ordered so we weren't allowed to touch them :grumpy: ). I sat in it, along with the dealer of course.

2004 Toyota Sienna LE [Los Angeles, CA; Longo Toyota/Lexus/Scion]
photo_5.jpg

It was AMAZING. It is very quiet and the interior is nicely finished. Too bad the price didn't workout (we we're in L.A. anyway...), but we're going to take a look at the van again in Las Vegas and see can we workout a better price.

What's Hot:

- New and improved!
- Very quiet ride.
- Great seating configuration.

What's Not:

- A bit pricey when jacked with options.
- Engine not as up to competitors (3.3L with 230 horsepower)
- It's a minivan...

Bottom Line:

- No one would even blink if it wore a Lexus badge.

AP1-> Tip: Go to either Fletcher Jones Toyota or Findlay Toyota, these guys will treat you well. 👍

Bah, I thought that there was only one Toyota dealer (Desert Toyota)! How cannot I remember that we bought our '98 Corolla LE at Fletcher Jones... :banghead:

The Vanishing Boy
Nice! 👍
Is that th Vitz RS, good photography there.
It's the turbo model, called Yaris Turbo in here (like in the 3rd picture). Don't know if it's sold in the US but we get 50 of those in Finland. And I took those pics yesterday when I test drove the car .

AP1-> Avoid Desert Toyota at all cost, they suck and they won't treat you guys right. Findlay Toyota is by far the best in the valley.

VRMX-> The Vitz and the Yaris are basically the same car, unfortunately the the Yaris/Vitz are not available in the us. The closest car that represent the Yaris/Vitz is the Scion xA (aka. Toyota Ist). But in the Philippines the Vitz/Yaris is available as a 5-door (and also as a Verso), but they named it there as the Toyota Echo just like in the US in which our Echo here is the Toyota Platz in Japan.

My uncle owns this station wagon, but it's going to be my aunt's (they're getting married in September! :) )

2004 Volvo XC70 Cross Country [Davis, CA]
open_420x307.jpg

Nice sound insolation, but the ride was a bit bumpy. This car is great. Not very roomy though (at least for me, I'm 5"11'). Unique flip-and-fold keyless entry is cool (we were in Starbucks, and uncle was rummaging for cash. He took out the keys, and the cashier thought it was a cell phone...). It comes with a Swedish-chic design. And, it's a quick turbo-charged wagon.

What's Hot:

- Height-adjustable suspension.
- Premium interior details.
- Neat ding-resistance black trim.

What's Not:

- Noisy tires.
- Too much dyed black-Tuppleware, even though the ding-resistance black trim is neat.
- Longish stopping distance.

Bottom Line:

- Volvo still owns this segment.

Hey there Vanishing Boy can't wait to read part 5 :) Hope you get to test drive the Evolution Vlll great car trust me lol.. On the 3rd of sep the Evolution Vlll MR will come out to us American's and for sure I will test drive that..

Sad thing is that the MR will not come with the JDM headlights,Dark recaro's.Tail lights, etc

Insted we will get the ugly clear lights, same purple seats etc..

Futrue Mods for my Evo Vlll,. Evo Vll tail lights, BBS weels and new FMIC.. and thats it...

MLK-> Too bad I haven't test drove the Evo and the STi yet. But I'll get to that soon. :)

Part 5

2002 Mitsubishi Montero XLS (Alamo Rent-A-Car, Las Vegas)
026029-E.jpg

-> One of the best SUV's I've ever driven so far. The seats are the best, like those Recaros. The powertrain is so smooth and refined, although sometime its shows its weak side but more potent that Expedition. Engine and road are suppleand well mannered, but the wind noise is evident though the windshild. Streering is very communicative, the best on a large SUV. Despite its rants, the Montero is a bar higher than the Suburban and the Expedition when it becomes overall drivabiity. But I do agree that this SUV needs a bigger engine.

2004 Saturn ION Red Line M/T (Saturn of Henderson, NV)
027884-E.jpg

-> This car is ok, pretty decent car. This car performs like a sporty car, but not the way that GM claimed. And besides, this car will be mechanically similar to the upcomming 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt SS Supercharged, so the result of the Chevy will be pratically the same, performance wise. The center mounted instrument panel takes time to get used to. The quad suicide doors and the dent-resistant panels are a nice touch. The problem is that you don't feel the supercharger to kick in, in fact its like driving a low-powered V6. Of course the Recaros are excelent and the handling is better than the SRT-4. I always hear critics that they hate that electric-powered steering wheel, well for me its like playing Initial D which it has very little feed-back, a fun touch in my opinion. The Red Line is decent car to go fast, but not too fast.

Be back for Part 6.... :)
