So, the results are up, at the bottom the first post. All three of them! :dopey: Congratulations to Smallhorses and raz_10 for their podium times. :sly: Seriously, nice laps by you two, and I'm sure I could say the same to those of you who didn't submit. But it's fine, because this is a warmup race, and it was only for the practice. That includes practicing submitting. ;)

I'm the only one required to post verification (and I'll get around to it in the next couple days), although raz and Smallhorses are welcome to if they wish. And anyone who forgot to submit can post their lap in this thread if they feel so inclined. 👍

Edit: Stupid question - how do I change the thread title so that it says "(Results)" on the end? :dunce:

Quick post as I'm off out to a meeting and will comment on results later.

To edit thread title.
Click "Edit" button for original post.
Click "Go Advanced"

Now you can change the thread title in the title line at the top. 👍

Ok, congrats to Austin for his table-topping time! 👍 Suspected you'd just edge me out, I'm notoriously slow in the last sector of any OLR due to not having a time to aim at. :dunce:
Was hoping to break under the 1'11.5xx mark though, as I expect you were too, ;) but ran out of time. :(
Hope Ricardo gets a little extra time to run the Suzuka challenge and will push us a little harder, along with all the rest of the guys that ran splits here but didn't submit.

Since you're new to the race organising you've probably not realised this, but it's good practice not to read other people's submission PMs until after the deadline has passed and then present the results as soon after the deadline as possible as you did. This way you get no perceived advantage in knowing people's full laptimes before the deadline and the potential to run a little more with a target in hand.
In this case it wouldn't matter since you were clearly ahead of me from the posted splits, and I trust you, however, I thought I'd best bring this to your attention in case it becomes an issue in future if more racers join in.
Now we're into the real racing it's a good idea to post deadline reminders in the thread, and possibly PM participants to remind them, which is why a larger PM box is a good idea! :)

Thanks, Smallhorses, and you had a great time, too - also prettier to watch, I'm sure!

I actually did think about reading the PMs, and decided that it was okay to look at them since I wasn't going to run again, but didn't think about the fact that the senders wouldn't know that! :dunce: So that's good advice. 👍 And I am planning to do both of the reminders you mentioned, about participation and the deadline. Hopefully it doesn't peter out like so many GT4 series have done. :indiff:

And as stupid as it is for a race series organizer to be saying something like this, I can't provide a video replay of my time right now because I can't find the one camera we have that can take videos. :dunce::dunce: I will get some proof to post here before the weekend is over, but it may just be a photo. :guilty: I promise, though, that when I track down that camera, I will take a video of the lap and post it here. 👍

Edit: Okay, I have a horrible photo with a matching horrible editing job in Paint to remove any clues of other combos. ;) This is a prefect example of why photo evidence is usually not acceptable.

Don't worry Austin, I'm not kicking up a fuss here, but I thought I'd better clarify a bit of background for the casual observer. (If these threads get any!)

There's a lot more reasons than that why photo evidence is not acceptable. All the photo shows is that you completed a lap in that time. What it cannot possibly show is whether the entire lap conforms to the rules, such as 2 tyres on track at all times, correct power & tyre type. For example, from that photo alone it's impossible to determine whether you used +10% power, S3 tyres, left the track in 6 places and hit the wall in the tunnel.

From the evidence we've seen throughout the week, that our splits are so close it would seem highly unlikely that this is the case, and given that you've always supplied video evidence (another can of worms that we'll not go into here!) of everything you've claimed, coupled with the fact that I've already said I trust you makes this kind of redundant in this case. However, for the benefit of anyone reading this that's never competed in an OLR before it's worth clearing up the reasoning against photo submissions in many events.

A MAX Drive or Sharkport / X-port replay is the only way to get replay evidence in a tamper-proof format, since as far as I'm aware only some of the coding boffins at PD are aware of the formats and formulae required to turn the info into a meaningful replay within GT4, and what would need to be edited in order to "fake" a lap.

Since this is Austin's series and is being run with different submission criteria than the official GTP WRS, and based entirely on the honour system, it's good enough here given that most of the racers that are interested are known, proven, clean racers that've taken part in other series.

I can vouch absolutely for raz_10 as I've checked many of his WRS & ARCAT replays, and have had the priviledge of racing side-by-side with him in a LAN environment.

My replay is saved, and I can post an NTSC MAX Drive replay if necessary, I guess there's only really Ricardo that might be interested, but it's not worth the hassle if no-one wants to view it. ;)

Of course. I know photos are terrible evidence, and that's why I encourage video or .max replays, but my thinking was that not everyone would be able to verify their lap if I required one of those as proof. Honestly, we need as many participants as possible in this forum these days, and I trusted that there wouldn't be anyone inventing their times. Thankfully, that assumption has held true thus far from what I can tell. I'm not all that concerned about cheating in a relatively casual series like this, though; it's the competitive series like the WRS that tend to more often attract cheaters, and that's exactly why it has such black-and-white rules about verification.

Thanks Smallhorses 👍 likewise!
I also have mine saved. But if only you and I will be able to view/verify then yea I don't see the need to go through the hassle...

Sorry mean't to submit my time but it was my 25th Wedding anniversary and I forgot all about it! It was 1'13 something anyway. Still getting used to it after all the time out :nervous:
Congrats to Smallhorses and Austen for really fast times 👍
Hope to see you at Suzuka.
Regards
