By the way. The SRT-4 is about only 300lbs lighter, but it dyno's just about the same horsepower as the rated horsepower. So it's probably only about 15-30hp short of the Evo.

The post was originally about setting age limits for the amount of horsepower one can have in their car, if im not mistaken. BTW, did you belong to the breakdancing.com freestyle message boards?

True, but where in your post did you relate hosepower to age? You talked about the SRT-4 being able to beat the Evolution VIII along with your brother racing a Supra in his Probe. The last sentence was the only one that would remotely link the two together.

No, I never belonged to a board like that.

What I don't get it why you'd set horsepower limits. I mean I know a lot of kids that drive trucks, a buddy of mine has a F-250 with a V-10. There's gotta be a lot of power in a truck like that.

I say just let the kid drive what they want and if they crash it, there problem not mine.

in victoria australia when you are on your P's you have a power to weight limit, i think its a 120kw's per ton of something like that

Its happened, nothing I can do about it.

A lot of things happen. Some you can stop, some you can't. But it is still a problem, either way. The solution may not be to keep kids away from poweful cars, but maybe we can improve driver behavior and responsibility.

I believe in the UK there is a CC limit for new motorcylclists. If you put HP limits on new drivers cars, they will just try and find ways of getting around it and tuning other parts.

Hence the engine size limit and not the hp limit.

There are still ways round it - the Micra SuperTurbo has a 1.0 with 130hp, but how many of those are there?

What really should happen is a better drivers ed program. I remember when I did it the instructor could care less.

I think more safety regulations are the answer. Whatever Volvo's got, it's mandatory, and the drinking age should be pushed back to 21. And enforced.

I hope they never restrict certain ages from driving certain cars, save for large domestic SUVs and anyone under 25.

But you said "pushed back to 21", which would imply that's it's currently not at 21.

I only slip clutches! Erm...

Yeah, because nobody cares if an 18-year-old is drinking. The drinking age in this country is supposedly 21, but you're stupid if you think that's the case.

I dont know where you got that from M5 but in Maryland if a cop sees anyone under 18 drinking your ass is going away. Ive seen plenty of parties with underage drinking get busted around here. Drugs are illegal too but people still smoke up, the cops cant stop everyone everytime.

 Have you ever been on a college campus? Hell, the University of Maryland itself isn't exactly the most academically-focused school in the nation.
