I usually do not post on GTPlanet, although I am a member (obviously). This thread intrigued me, so I decided to give it a go.
For nostalgia purposes, I purchased the '92 Toyota Minolta LeMans Racecar. I recall running the Yosemite (El Capitan) Endurance Race in GT4 with this car and soundly beating it.
Bought the car, gave it an oil change
Installed SS Racing slicks
Used my trusty Logitech Pro Driving Force wheel with all aids except ABS switched off. I know the purists may balk at this, but ABS is a wonderful invention. At least I never use SRF...
Held on for dear life
Snagged a 59.902.

If someone could tell me how to take a screenshot and post it here, I will gladly do so as proof.

0:59.545 in a modded Bentley Speed 8. There's a lot left on the table because while I can get to consistency, I can't get to the super-fast times the really good drivers manage.

Stock 787, can't get under the 1.01.xxx mark, any advice? on the club i suggest to diversify events: TT with escudo or gt r and to lower the overall time of the session

I'm delighted if my little game has encouraged a long-standing GT-er to join us :)

However, we are running this challenge on RH (Racing Hard) tyres, before I add your time to the list could you confirm which tyres (Soft, Medium or Hard) you mean by 'SS Racing slicks' ?

To post a pic, I believe you will need to upload it to an external hosting website such as flickr or google plus, and then copy the image location (URL) from there and press the picture button on the post form to add it to your post. (However, this is optional).

Is there any significance to the reverse layout? Is that sorta considered the proper direction to race this track?

Mazda LM55 VGT 57.987 too fast for me, but at least I learned the track now.

Nah, I think forwards is more common. After trying it out in both directions, I picked reverse mainly because of the unique challenge of the first two corners, where you brake going over the crest and then down into the tunnel. Together with the fast sweepers towards the end of the lap, this gives two sections of high-speed curves which feel great when you get them right.

On the 787 I'd say fit a turbo upgrade of some type, full downforce front, full or nearly full rear.

Did 58.088 with the Toyota 88-CV Minolta. 58.540 with the Sauber C9. But they can go faster because I only used 900hp. Got 59.775 with 690hp Bentley. This is my leaderboard currently-

56.538, 787b abs1 no aids. Could probably do a 55 if i really tried.

39.160 Red Bull X2014 fan car, abs1 no aids, this one has a lot left in it...

These are both on rs tyres and midfield FOWARD, who needs rules.

JUst tried reverse/racing hard, can't even crack a minute with the 787.
:(

I'm running the following setup on my 787B for a ~58.8 :

Tyres: RH / RH
Suspension:
65 / 65
15 / 14.15
4 / 4
5 / 5
3 / 3
2.2 / 2.0
0.00 / 0.30
Brake: 6 / 4
Gears:
1: 3.078
2: 1.988
3: 1.449
4: 1.177
5: 0.972
Final: 3.700
Diff: 10 / 40 / 20
Power: High RPM Turbo, Oil Change
Downforce: 600 / 765

Chassis: Improved Chassis Rigidity
Aids: ABS 1, TCS 2
Gearshift: Manual
Controller: DS3

hope this helps anyone, the main things are the downforce and reduced rear brake bias I think. If you find it too tail-happy in the high speed sections you could up the rear df, I find a bit of drift helpful.

However, I think the LM55 VGT is probably an easier bet than the 787B for anyone battling to beat the minute.

787B stealth, 694PP, ABS1 only (and racing line, I always have this active despite most of the time I complete ignore it), Logitech driving force.
Best lap 0:58.237

0:57.626 was on RACING SOFT, so it does not count

time to do the track in under 0:50 with the Lotus 97T!

Got the LM55 down into the 57s with a 57.612

Here's my chassis setup:

Suspension:
43 / 43
16.00 / 16.87
4 / 4
5 / 5
3 / 4
1.5 / 1.4
0.00 / 0.20

Brakes:
6 / 5

Downforce:
600 / 800

Everything else standard bar oil change, ABS the only driver aid. The key thing is to lower the rear toe and downforce, and raise the rear roll stiffness slightly, to get it to rotate into the corners :)

Just went on for a bit (to the Club), pretty confident at first because I'm in the 59's on Mid-field forward without trying too hard, but just not familiar enough with Reverse to string it together - a couple of those curbs REALLY punish you for running wide. Did a 1:00.7xx in the LM55 with my usual settings (bone stock, no oil, no tune, MT, ABS:1, rest off).

58.2 with the Mazda LM55 with no tune. It needs more turn in, can definitely do 57's! 58.4's with the TS020.
