if IRL is soo much better, how come they arnt running races in canada, england, germany, mexico and of course right here in australia. ive been to the australian cart race for 3 years running, even in the dounpour of rain last year, the crowds just keep getting bigger and bigger every year. on to a street circuit where high rises dominate the land available for spectating, the race managed to attract more than 100,000 people for race day. how can cart be dying with figures like that

i believe i already explained that one:odd:

I like IRL and CART. I don't think one is better than the other. I just like any kind of racing, no matter what series it is. I like most any kind of racing.

eerr explain what exactly.

look at all the replys to this cart vs irl topic. it seems your the lone soldier for the irrelevent racing league. everyone seems to be barracking for CART here. dunno why, maybe because its actually real racing. heck even nascar turns right sometimes. look mate, you can ***** and whine all you want, just see how many people here are CART supporters.
i remembering reading some article from www.crash.net last year about american open wheel racing attendences. CART had a much higher attendence rate in the united states than the IRL, the indy 500 was also included in these results.

i have such great respect now for paul tracy for his loyality to the cart world series. i think its fantastic. he doesnt care if he gets a ****load of money offered to race in that series........you know.....that series........that is a joke.......whats it called....um... IRL thats it. no matter what, he will stay in CART. go paul, i hope eihter you or tags wins the vanderbuilt cup

oh yes the rule book that changes so that everything possible could be changed to make a irl driver win. i forgot about tonys book of crud

you must not be familiar with open wheel oval racing then, for if a yellow flag comes out they revert to the last completed lap.

I saw this whole mess coming when they first announced the split. I grew up watching Al Unser, Johnny Rutherford & Mario Andretti. I saw my childhood hero, A.J. Foyt win his 4th. Indy 500.
PFFT! What a bunch of BS!

Having grazed through this thread, it seems that if you believe everything you read then both the IRL and CART are dying, and they both have huge audiences. Hmmmm. I watch them both on British Eurosport as often as possible and I reckon they are as good as each other, but neither is as good as this year's F1 WC. IRL and CART are like NASCAR and the BTCC; two different series with different rules that still produce great racing.

Good point roo. i guess it is just what your preference is ovals or a mixture (mainly roads)

still the big arguement point is the politics (unfortunately not the racing) i wish the politics would stop, i watch the races on channel 10 and before the race, bill woods and neil crompton have this pre race report. its mainly the politics between cart and irl and unfortuantly its not the actual racing which has been pretty good in cart (i wouldnt know about the racing in the IRL because i dont have cable tv and i find oval racing boring)

I'd like to further express my sentiments towards each series, with 2 simple pictures.

Raceday, IRL @ Fontana 2003 (yes, that is raceday, not a practice session or whatever. I can prove it with more pics, if you don't believe me)

Now, Raceday, CART @ Fontana 2002

another thing i have noticed about the irl cars is that they are well strange looking

here is a pic of an Irl car

the front wing looks like its a foot behind the nose of the car. the rear wing is incredibly big. the car is short and stocky and what is with that bulge in front of the cockpit. the car looks awkwards and is no way a smooth looking elegant race car. it sought of looks like a 1996 ferrari f1 car, but with the buldge added.

sorry to do this in 2 posts

Im not being biased or anything but CART cars look more like a modern racing car. its lower to the ground, longer and smoother looking. and it hasnt got that hidoius bump in front of the cockpit

i first noticed the severe differences in the cars at www.deepthrottle.com an article similar to this post was placed on there but in more detail. but its true irl cars are ugly
