Just thought of something that might make new time easier to view. How about have a page that shows recent submissions? That way we could see what tracks are getting the most action .
Wow, vBulletin really has you guys spoiled, doesn't it?

oops, i already entered my times in kgs, i didn't know the conversion to pounds.
I've added a link to a KG/lbs converter on the time entry page.

How hard would it be to rename all the single digit test from eg. "1" to "01" so that they'd be sorted correct ?....
Really, really hard, but I did it anyway. :)

Please add the HPA R32 to the fastest laps car list.
For your convienience:

Motorsports Stage II R32 '04
4WD
522 hp
1485 kg
(stock)

Just to revisit the issue of location of the Fastest Laps link...

Would it be possible to mirror/add that link to this Forum as well, so that folks could find it either in the GT4 forums or the Leaderboard forums?

Looking through the track list, Gymkhana needs removed. You can't record a time there. Shock absorbers need added to the optional settings list.

Glad to see we can select our cars now.👍

I think that some cars have more than six gears. The F1 has seven, doesn't it? Might want to get a second opinion on that, though.

No, because the "sub-forum"/link would show up on the forum home page, and I don't like that. This problem will be corrected in GTP7, it will all come together. I know the integration with the current site is a bit clunky.

Gymkhana removed. Are they actually referred to as "shock absorbers" in the game? I don't seem to remember such an option, strangely. I'd also like someone to clarify if/what has seven gears, then I'll get the field added.

I would also like to add that I will be including a link which allows you to search for all of a user's posted times from their forum profile and posts.

Hey - if we're spoiled, guess who brought the candy in the first place ;-)

Shock absorbers are only available on the sport suspension, I think. I wouldn't have remembered them either if I didn't see them on my Speed 12, which has them adjustable as stock.

please, add different categories for each drivetrain... RR, MR, FR, 4WD. is makes a much organized leaderboard, where you have a chance to be a good driver with different types of cars. In this format, you create a special category for F1 cars... Check the gt3 section of racing-line.org to see how it works... its really nice and its the way a leaderbord should be... there´s even rankings for top drivers in each category...

this would make this forum perfect... about splitting categories, we could do it differentely, with stock cars, tuned cars, lemans cars, JGTC, etc... so we can have a competition between the cars, after all thats what gt is all about, cars...

i really hope there is a separation into categories, otherwise it would just be a dispute of who drives the F1 better in gt4... not really the cars...

there is a site that allows you to view the best time for each car... but that is way to much filtering, after all, with mare than 700 cars, many of then would not have a single submitted time, that´s just not ranking for me...

so, here´s my 2 cents, i hope i didn´t forgot something... anyway, i hope you like the idea of the categories...

So they are adjustable? I'll have them added as open fields like shock bound/rebound are now. Would that work?

Well, it's not exacty like racing-line, but the Leaderboard is much more flexible in that way. By clicking on the column titles, you can sort by every field except for tires. Therefore, to see MR or FR times, you would just click the "Drive Train" title to have the times divided by drive train. I'll see if it is possible to sort results by time and by drive train, or maybe an option to filter out all drive trains but one, and then have it sorted by time.

I read all the suggestions, but I couldn't find enough info about that one or I omit that point may be.... It will be cool if Status "Verified" is direct link to submitted replay.

And also a database optimization. What if someone submits a lap time and there is a db entry with the same (driver name/car)? Would be that old entry removed and a new one appears only? So who submits 10-20 entries per month can or cannot flood the leaderboard?

My Nike 2022, or whatever, has 9 gears.

They aren't adjustable, though. It's actually 8 gears. I'm pretty certain that the F1 does have seven. Yes, the shock absorbers are adjustable. Why can't the database be sorted by tires, if it can be sorted by all the other variables?

I did try to do that, but the times were not ranked, they were separeted, but not ranked... i just gave that idea, because gtplanet right now is the biggest gt4 fansite... so, it will atract the biggest number of drivers... :)

The purpose of the categories is to see who is the best in each category (everything is ranked), still, don´t know if you like the idea os splitting the cars into their real categories (class c, JGTC, DTM, normal, etc) that would give a "realistic" feel to the leaderboard. 💡

I don´t have a problem with having to click to separate, but that´s just make it so "obscure", hard to visualize... (sorry for the crappy english).. well thanks jordan for listening to us, it makes a lot o difference when we can have a say on how the things are done... :dopey:

i would like to know what other users think about the categories... because it not all about the F1´s... i understood your point jordan, but still think its a good idea to split... 👍 :dopey:

Just noticed that there is no forward Motorland, only reverse. I assume both would be available, right? Also, what is Kashiwa?

👍👍 I agree with you in that having the different classes to seperate an F1 from a Vitz would be very usefull. I've submitted some times, but I don't know how good they are compared to similar cars, A. because there arent really many of the speed I've submitted, and B. minolta, f1, and other super fast cars with times on there make slower cars look bad. But I am happy I got within 20 seconds of someone's F1 lap time with a big heavy car.

What if we have a game version not in HP?
OK, but I'm playing it in italian, in CV. :ouch:
By the way, the current unit in IS is the kW (well known that it's not used anywhere), and the kg for mass.
Is this an USA/GB-only leaderboard? :)

Also, I'm pretty sure the correct value for horsepower is shown into garage.

At last, I think the roaster for all tracks will be full of F1 in a short time for the first 93 pages 👎 No way to filter cars? Do you know this site? http://gplrank.schuerkamp.de/php-pub/gplrank.php
more explicit, the MULTIPLE CHOICE HELL layout.
Thanks

Kashiwa is the location for motorland. In other terms, the same circuit ;)

Check out GTTimes' GT3 database for an example of robust filtering.
I think for a site of GTPlanet's size, the ability to filter (broader than only by drivetrain) is almost a must-have, especially once the Leaderboard starts getting heavily populated. If someone wants to know the fastest time in a (insert any mid-level car here), they won't want to scroll through pages and pages just to find that car.

Additionally, the database would incur less stress with filtered queries than it would with "select all" queries.

I don't think this is a USA only leaderboard, Duck (by the way, welcome to a fellow Italian from another fellow Italian :D).

As a matter of fact, I think it is open to everybody that wants to submit a time.

Just do the conversions 👍

Also, I'm pretty sure the correct value for horsepower is shown into garage.

Nope. That value is not the correct value for horsepower, as it is always in the units of PS, no matter what choice you make in the Options, under Units.

The correct value for the power, in the units of your choice, is shown in three places:

1) Car Screen - when you click on a car listed in your garage, this screen appears, and you can see the car rotating
2) Sell Screen - access to it when you are on the Car Screen, by clicking the Sell icon
3) Settings Screen - the blown up version of the Power/Torque Graph

Everything else is always in PS, no matter your choice of units.

Take a look at this thread, it has full coverage on everything you always wanted to know and never dared to ask about Power :D

Oh, well, in that case the name needs changed to just Motorland. To avoid confusion, you know? :P

Hello,

what a nice leaderboard system! One small thing that I noticed: there are options only for two controllers, not for DS1 (the one for Playstation 1 I mean) for example. I'm using DS1 since my dusty old PS2 has problems with analogue buttons, the steerings starts pulling right, the game starts scrolling menus on its own etc. :ouch: Luckily the good old controller from PS1 works with this game.

Can we please have a KW to HP converter as well, i have to google it to find out lol.

Also could you display a number of entries next to the track.

eg Nürburgring (23)

that means there are 23 entries.

More of a question but I wasn't sure where to post it. Please feel free to move it if required, nice Mr moderator.

If I post a time in the GT1 board and then beat that time and post another, can I replace or delete my first post in favour of the second post or will it show both?

I've submitted times for GT4, and you can edit your current time, or delete it and make a new one, or make a second one. I don't know if they want you submitting multiple times, but I know you can edit or delete them at your will.

You said it!
I'm an engineer, and no matter the unit you are using, I can manage it.
But a lot of users can't, or simply are too lazy :dopey:
A db based on hp and lbs can't be international.
If the admin pretend to be international oriented, use international units.
If not, just US/GB oriented, as I said. I read, in this forum, about many records. People don't like to submit them because the form is not very friendly with 'PAL' people ;)

I am an Engineer as well (see my singature and my profile) 👍
I am from Italy (SI system, you know, that kinda thing).

Yet, I think better in horsepower and ft-lb, for power and torque :D
Still like Kg for weight (ok, mass, but we freely interchange it as a measure of weight, don't we? How many times did a person ask you how much you weight and you replied 980 Newtons? :D  )

Another quick solution would be for you to put the units for power and torque to HP and ft-lb, and leave the distance / speed in Km / Km/h (in the options). This should still make you happy, right? You still get to see the speed in "Italian" units, but then you have the correct value of power (already in horses) to enter in the leaderboard.

Plus, you being from Italy, should be used to horsepower anyway?
We always talk about how many "cavalli" a car has... Never heard anybody talking about KW :D

Is it possible to have some indication of when the times were updated? To see if anybody had entered times after you had so you could check them, that sort of thing.

And also a database optimization. What if someone submits a lap time and there is a db entry with the same (driver name/car)? Would be that old entry removed and a new one appears only? So who submits 10-20 entries per month can or cannot flood the leaderboard?
It's going to show up as a new entry. Of course, if someone does flood the leaderboard in any way, they will be banned.

Why can't the database be sorted by tires, if it can be sorted by all the other variables?
Because it's essentially two different fields, and I didn't really want to bother figuring out how to sort them, and then try and explain that to the programmer.

Check out GTTimes' GT3 database for an example of robust filtering.

I see what you mean, that would be nice. Truth is, I've run out of patience with the Leaderboards, and I've also run out of funds for the programmer right now. Advanced filtering is something I would really like to add, but a lot of it depends on the success of the Leaderboards.

Just noticed that there is no forward Motorland, only reverse. I assume both would be available, right? Also, what is Kashiwa?
Changed Koshiwa to Motorland.

Thanks atlop, at least somebody likes it! :) Don't worry about the DS1, just enter your time as DS2. All we really want to know is how you ran the lap, with a controller or with a steering wheel.

KW to HP is in, and great idea on the time entry numbers. Maybe for a "future version" if the Leaderboard is successful. 👍

Your new time will show up as a separate entry. This is fine, don't worry about it.

Well, this site is US based, and its the standard that I'm familiar with. I have provided two very very easy to use unit converters in the time entry field. Any way you look at it, somebody is going to have to do some conversions.

Is it possible to have some indication of when the times were updated? To see if anybody had entered times after you had so you could check them, that sort of thing.
Hmmm...the date submitted and last updated is displayed in the time entry page. There's not currently any way to do what you are talking about, if I understand your question correctly.
