Changing cars without saving?

I just built up just over $4.5M in credits to purchase a crazy race car to try and help me beat the last series in Professional since I'm sadly having a bit of trouble with my Minolta and some other race cars. I wanted to try the Audi R8, the BMW V12 LMR, Mazda 787B, Nissan R390 GT1 and see which was the quickest accelerator, top speed and overall I liked the best. Is it possible for me to purchase one of these without saving it as I only have 1 memory card and I don't want to lose all of those credits if I don't like the car?

Thanks

Sorry if this is covered anywhere else but I looked through 3 FAQ's here and the first page and did a search of changing cars and nothing caught my attention regarding this subject.

Nope, it will save before you try the car regardless of using autosave or not. GT4's garage isn't saved onto the PS2's internal memory unlike GT3's so whenever you change what car your in it has to load your garage and then save the change.

That sucks, but thanks.

By the way...use the R8. It'll kill them.

That's what I was thinking but I didn't want to buy it if I can win it in one of the Extreme Challenges.

It is not possible, but I have some ideas for you:
1) Try using the cars in arcade mode(if you can)
2) Use a spare memory card to back up your GT4 save

The Toyota 88c-v is a great car, able to win the entire series easily.

If you REALLY want one of those cars, save up your cash and buy the "black beauties" that come around on day 694 in the used car lots(I & II). Two are 1.2 million credits each and the other two are 2.2 million credits each.

There are prize car lists on this site somewhere. :ouch:

However, I'm sure you can't win the LMR V12 BMW nor either of the Pescarolos.

The Audi R8 is the prize car for the 24h of Le Mans (one of the two, the other's prize car is the bentley).

Go over the prize car list and base your pick on which cars you want + which cars you can't win. 👍

Good luck.

I really enjoy the Toyota Minolta but I still struggle in some of the final races in the last series of Professional to maintain first or it's too close for my liking which is why I want to try something else. I'm way past day 694 and those black beauties are no longer there. I never did see them, are they any better or is the only difference that they are black and slightly used?

Yeah I know you can't win the V12 LMR that's why I was considering buying it depending how it performs. I think I'll buy the R8 as it seems like a wicked race car compared to the Toyota/Nissan/Jaguar that I currently have.
How is the BMW McLaren F1 GTR Race car that you win in Extreme? I've wanted this car since I seen it but haven't finished Professional to get to it yet.

Thanks everyone

1. If you buy the car, you're stuck with it.

2. Qualifying. It changes everything. ;)

Buy the car you want to test but don't get in it,and go to arcade mode and test it.I did that with the Peugeot 905 Race Car.

You can not buy the Audi R8. Like Kent said you have to Win La Sarthe I to obtain it.
Yes, you can buy it. But I don't see a point in spending 4.500.000 Cr on a car that can be won.

I think that's your best bet. You can purchase one car, do NOT get into it, exit to arcade mode, try it out, then reset the PS2 and try another car. I've done it a few times before major purchases, and while you can't mess with the settings it should give you some hints on which you'd prefer.

I did not know this so thanks. But it's too late, I purchased the R8 and it's awesome, I'm about to start race 6 or 7 of 10 in the last series of Professional and all golds so far. Yes I shouldn't have wasted 4.5M credits on it since I can win it but I'm not waiting to do the 24 hour Le Mans race to get it. I'm finishing off the 8 and 9 hour endurance races before I attempt the 24 hour endurance races.

I figured out how to qualify(Practice) and that has also helped.

Thanks everyone
