The only difficulty the car has EVER given me is rev-matching the 3-speed (a problem with the 2J as well), those gear splits are a nightmare when things get tight and twisty. Aside from that, the car stays amazingly well planted and urges the driver to push it harder and harder.

The chapperals got the worst transmission in the world.it doesnt matter if you try to make a nurburgring gearbox tune or short track,first gear always bog
 
I can't get my head around anyone having trouble with this car. It's a joy to drive, I love it at the Nordschleife.

To the OP.
Are you using aids with the car? I found the Alfa Romeo GIULIA TZ2 carrozzata da ZAGATO CN.AR750106 ’65 (Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance Gran Turismo Trophy 2009) will roll if you have all of the aids switched on but it is a joy to drive with them off.
 
I mentioned this in another thread recently: The 2D (ignoring the 2J as I've only driven it in the recent wet TT seasonal) outclasses any car from its era on tight tracks like Eiger and Autumn Ring. That includes the Ferrari 330 P4 and the Ford Mark IV. Even with 3 gears it does so.
 
Any particular reason for the 7/7 brakes? No difference means no bias, 1/1 is the same as 5/5 is the same as 10/10.
 
7/7 is stronger than 5/5, stops you quicker, it's really my own personal preference as it fits my driving style, if you have other ideas for brake balance feel free to change it, it's one of the more flexible parts of a tune.

Very wrong. 1/1 is not the same as 10/10. As previously stated, the higher the number, the stronger the brakes. I have tested this extensively so I know it to be true.

I agree,your car stops better with higher front values then rear because the cars weight transfer to the front when you brakes.the games brakes is really close to real life's brakes where the bigger the brakes are,the less distance you gonna have when you brake.thats why raising the brake values is better then leaving it alone or decreasing the values

You've completely missed my point. I'm not talking about bias in this case. It was said that 1/1 is the same as 10/10 and it is not. Nothing to do with bias as both front and back are the same in this discussion.

Oh yes? Take your ABS off, set your brakes to 0/0 & do a 200km/hr (125mph) to zero stop. Then set your brakes to 10/10 & try the same. (Don't do the second one near any walls. :lol: )
 
I have a question after reading all the comments. Is it really worth the credits if you already own the 2J? I happen to love my 2J and it is one of my favorite cars in the game. So is it really worth spending the credits on the 2D?

I am not trying to collect all the cars in the game so truly what advantage does the 2D have over the 2J? It's not like I don't have the credits and running the 2J at the Ring is Seasonal 4 pays $1 million so it's not like I can't recoup the credits.

The only advantage the 2d have is the less understeer you gonna have around a corner

Thanks for your response. I have my 2J tuned and it does not have an understeer problem at least for my style of driving. I use the DS3 mapped with my own button configuration. I use R3 for throttle and brake so that I can get as close to an accelerator pedal that the wheel set up has. If this is the only reason so far then I think I'll let it pass for the time being.

It would be nice to hear some other input from some more folks at GTPlanet.

You should buy it while it is available.. It is a great car and it's "its own" car.. It is very unique and very rare.. I use mine all the time for seasonals and online races. It's very competitive with the GT500 class of cars.. The 2J is a generally better car.. But that's just how it is lol... Buy the 2D or you will be kicking yourself when you don't buy it, then when you finally want it you will end up waiting a month for it to circle through you UCD..

you don't have to want all the cars in the game to want this one!

and like you say, it's free money! a cool mil for 7 minutes work (including start-up)... and on the ring as well, where you wouldn't mind spending the hour and a half it takes to buy a 2D even if it was for nothing!
 
The 2D was great in the latest American Muscle Car Seasonal. Add ballast to make weight distn 49/51, cut power to meet 500 pp. Tracks like on rails and hauls in rabbits easily. Much better than detuned GT40. I guess with full power it would be squirrelly.

Oh and play around with the gears, do the 1st left, 2nd centre, 3rd right slider settings.
