I have the Toyota Minolta race car which has a lower power to weight ratio and I have it's top speed at 300.2 MPH at the test track. But that is with nitrous. I was wondering if the Chaparral is the fastest no-nitrous car in the game? I've gotten it to top at 274.6 mph at the test track. It will do 270 in the corners. I do not know of any car that will do this without nitrous.

I don't have my settings with me but I can post them within the next few days for anyone that is interested.

..i think your trying to test these cars too differently..

you need to keep everything stock; suspension and all mods, and go from there

it wouldnt surprise me if the 2d is much faster with its ground affects however, because its literally stuck to the ground

TEST CURSE: 278 MPH thru the turns...281 MPH at the end of the Straights. Best Lap 1'22.542 So far.

Toyota GT1 (Well Used "Black" one / a "New" one's probably Faster!) NO NOS!!! ...O.G. :D

Did a search, found this old thread, so thought I'd post my results here...

Just been doing some testing at the Top Speed run in GT4 with the Chaparrals, and other cars trying to catch them, but with no nitrous used at all. They are fast cars, but the old one is the quick one!

Chaparral 2D (67): 468.4 km/h (290.93mph)
Toyota Minolta: 459.1 km/h (285.16 mph)
Chaparral 2J (70) 448.1 km/h (278.15 mph)

I haven't had time to get out a Pescarolo to try here, and I don't own an Audi R8 or a Bentley, so they might be able to catch the Chaparral. I've tested the Nissans, the GT-One and the Sauber, and they go about the same speed as the Minolta.

KOOL! 👍 Much better than starting a new thread on the same or very similar subject! WELCOME to the Forums Ozmac...you'll do well here! ...O.G. :D

The Playstation Pescarolo C60 is hot on the heels of the Chaparral 2D (at least at my place!). Got it up to 462.7 km/h (287.4 mph) tonight at the Top Speed part of 'Power and Speed', but the old 67 model Chaparral is going to be hard to catch! The vacuum cleaner model (the 2D) is way behind, and besides, it looks weird.

There's a thread in the "Tuning and Settings " section called three hundred mph, and a guy there is trying to get the 2D up to 300 without resorting to nitrous.

So far he's got 297.3mph, but I think he's done about 1500miles in that car and says he needs another one...!

Yep, read the thread, and it's fantasyland.

Yep, read the thread, and it's fantasyland.

Fantasyland? You mean the real Minolta Toyota could not nitrous past 300mph while popping a wheelie?

Eh? That thread is all about getting past 300. If he was in fantasyland he would just say "yeah, done it". Why would anybody lie about failing?????

Having just cracked 300 in the Nardo after a long struggle, I know it's all about little tweaks, refinements and technique.

It is certainly possible to raise a top speed by 10mph at this level with little tweaks and refinements. I just added 25mph onto the top speed of my Nardo.

I have had both chaparrals exceed 300mph without nitrous, as it isn't even an available option for them, but the 2D is far easier to do it with than the 2J as the 2J gets very squirley going through the turns. I'd post settings and times, but i am one of the lucky ones whose PS2 has stopped working, Thanks GT4.
Still love the game though, or at least the time i got to spend playing.

Been away on business. Nice of you to think of me.

I don't doubt the times in fantasyland are real; I just don't like nitrous – just the lazy way to get to 300.

Without nitrous, in the Chaparral 2D, my best so far is 488.88 km/h or 303.65 mph.

Best lap at Test Course is 1.17.556. Betcha can't put together even two sub 1.18 laps in a row with a fantasyland nitrous car.

And I know what you're going to say next...

Aaah, well as that's your reason you have a valid point! :) To be honest I normally never bother with NOS, but the 300 mph thing made an interesting challenge.

Sorry to get all grumpy earlier...
