Regarding the whole "chase the rabbit thing": As far as i know gt 5 is one of the exceptional case in racing games that don't feature rubber band AI (maybe except in the A-Spec events, I remember having red).

Without a doubt, the rabbits are mostly visible in the seasonals. After putting in the disc again after a long time I tried to get myself some competion from the AI with going into the Arcade Mode on Professional and the most aggressive AI. As you all know the clue to the true competition lies in the wheels. E.g.: Say the opponents have Sports midle. Taking for me softs results in overtaking everyone in the first round, taking hards in falling back immediately. But taking midle too, in overtaking everyone in the first round except No. 1, the rabbit (Have to say at this point that I did only a few races so correct me, if I've did something "wrong").

I tried this in only 2lap races, but I do notice that in order to come close to the first place, I would have to drive 2-3 more perfect rounds.

What I would like to ask you is, what has to be done in order to get rid of the rabbit, but still keeping the competition over the whole race without using rubberband AI like in so much other games?

I mean if every opponent would have a car completely equal to yours in terms of performance, what would the race look like? Ok, at the moment they brake too early, but what if they wouldn't? Would brake later and drive more risky...wouldn't it be MUCH more difficult to catch up on such opponents?

I'd like to see different challenges. There seemed to be a lot of enjoyment with the overtaking challenge, and I think there could be others implemented as well.

I'd like to be the rabbit at see if i could fend off a chaser. Or maybe a challenge to conserve tire wear (or see how long one can keep a round of tires and still get a certain time).

I'd like to think now that PD has seen what they can do with weekly challenges and could give us some really neat things to come in gt6.

edit: oops, forgot this part:

I think the AI definitely needs more adjustment to be more competitive, and like GT4, we can choose the level of difficulty based on how each of us drive.

If the AI in A-spec even just used the same AI the B-spec driver uses I'd be happy..

B-spec drivers run much better laps, hold their own quite well (We won't mention Monaco) and would genuinely be far more enjoyable than the current AI.

That, along with the different "Personalities" found in B-spec drivers it would make single player far, far more enjoyable and allow PD to ditch the horrendous rabbit model without having to reintroduce rubber band AI.

Check out this thread on how to do set up Arcades:https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=251378&highlight=arcade+love

There's methods to setting up a grid listed there.
I always use stock vehicles, no aids including ABS, default or lesser tires, add ballast. Then I drop to last place and do a full pace lap. No passing until start/finish. No dive bombing/clean driving only. Sometimes it will take 20 laps and I'll only get to mid pack. Other times it's too easy. Just takes some experimenting for your skill level.

Similar method in one makes except the AI's aggresiveness can't be altered. Dropping a tire works well but sometimes the AI is painfully slow. More hit or miss than Arcade.

Chase the rabbit has gotten old but I just treat them as Overtake Challenges, nothing more.

I now tried the one make and noticed too that i have to drop my performance for a neat race but here it's too hit and miss for not being too slow. ...Or is there a standard formula like: If you reduce performance to 65% you won't be too fast and not to slow?

Unfortunately i can't talk about the b-spec drivers as I've never studied their long term behaviour on the track.

But one more question: May it be, that when you're behind the opponents they drive more patient and if you're in first place, they drive faster laps?

what do you mean with

I don't attempt any passes on the pace lap until after passing over Start/Finish unless there's an extremely slow AI. The reason is the AI drives very slow on cold tires. Too easy to pass most of the field on Lap1.

I'll even go all the way to P16 for more of a Challenge. At Nordschleife tracks I'll just wait for 15-30 seconds at Start/Finish then proceed.

Check out the thread I posted for Arcade Race set ups. Using stock vehicles seems to be a big factor for a good grid. Since the AI's slow spots are turns, I'd rather use less grippy tires and ABS 0. Comfort Hard tires have plenty of grip, I use those a lot now for lower powered street cars. 500+/-hp Race cars are fine on Sport Softs. Touring level type Race cars Sport Medium. Very high powered street cars Sport Hards at most.

They should simply roll back the AI to what we had in GT5 Prologue (minus the rabbit car), that would make GT5's offline racing 90% better. Remember, in Prologue you could adjust the speed of the AI with a slider value.
