Maybe i'm illucinating :boggled: , but, i've been trying to beat my own ghost in "time trials-tahiti",....for about an hour, on a time of 2'01.579 :banghead: and, i've got the feeling that, when chasing the ghost, my car's handling is alot worse.. 👎 ?? So, i get out and get back in (ghost removed) and on the first trial, i get a time of: 2'00.050.. :odd: ?? Coincidence?? :irked: I think NOT!! I noticed the same thing on Mountail Trail, Deep Forest and Laguna Seca.. 🤬 !! Try it and, pay close attention to your car's handling!!??Let me know what you think

I usually press the select button to make the ghost magically disappear, fortunately the splittimes of the previous best run keep on appearing so you know if you are faster / slower than before.

And yes the ghost is way too annoying, not slowing down your car but blocking the view. This makes me instinctively choose different (slower) lines just so I am able to see where I am going. Only in certain license tests I use the ghost, usually where the start matters a lot.

Search for "ghost" and you'll get a lot of differeing opinions. Personally, I rarely use it.

Your car's handling is not getting worse in any way. Your driving is. If you're chasing the ghost you are focused on catching up, not on driving smoothly and quickly. This is usually counterproductive because itleads you to drive less smoothly than you should and causes you to make hasty mistakes in the effort to get (or stay) ahead of the ghost.

.....Hey, mr.PD, tell me; What's the f:censored: point, of having such hard Time Trials, like: Mountain Trail, Deep Forest, Laguna Seca, Tahiti & the f 🤬 Complex Strings(that i'd like to wrap around your neck  ) and the rest of the tests, to be so f 🤬
easy, that makes me ...almost laugh :grumpy: ??Same thing goes, for the S License Test!! Do you really think....most people will develop better driving skills, by... 🤬 :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: swearing at the day you were born and, curse you to....die!!! ?? Yours untruly: :banghead: :banghead: 🤬
Have a nice f 🤬 nightmare!!!! 👍 ........

Are you alexy2k, back from the dead? That's more smilies than I've seen anybody else ever use. It doesn't help the readability any...

Alot of us have been trying to tell him that. He just puts his fingers in his ears and goes "naw naw naw...I'm not listening" and uses more emoticons.

Oh dear, if phonypoly thinks the time trials are hard, what's he going to do about his S-licence tests? The time trials are so easy by comparison!

He's one we're never going to see all Golds from!

I was just about to say the same thing as Smallhorses. The first 9 time trials are extremely easy.
Far easier than golding the S license. Complex string is only hard becuase I only drive it at the TT.
Guess who doesnt play arcade mode much?
Ghost chasing is useful if you have a gold medal time saved and you can use that to get back up to speed quickly, however if the ghost is blocking your view press the select button to turn it on or off.

Oh well, i guess i'll just stay at bronze and silver in the S License and, stuck at 99% :( :indiff:
Can someone please remove those smiley's>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
They drive me :banghead: up the wall!!!!!!!!!

Edit button is a god send...

One odd thing I've noted about ghosts is it feels like I can hear the engine on them, along with the sound for a draft... but nothing actually happens of course.

I tried hitting select when chasing a ghost of mine, made it vanished, and I found I focus alot better.

However, they still have some uses, like where you could be a little faster exactly, like which corner and what line. But making them vanish is nice when you want to compeltely focus.

Well, ...FINALLY... 👍 .. after a couple dozen's trials.... i managed to beat my own ghost and Mr. T. Kagaya, in the f 🤬 TT9/ Tahiti, with a shiat time of: 1'59.196, and 1'59.468 3rd best!.. Mr. T. Kagaya-ss, can go f 🤬 get it up his Ka-gay-a**
Time to
I don't think i'll be trying my shiat skills on the...String Complex, anytime soon!! :boggled:
BTW, anyone who says TT9 was/is easy to beat, you either cheated(shark etc...), you were lucky, you're lieing.., or my game has a glitch, thus: hard to beat!! :sly:

Wonder if that makes me lucky or a liar?
I find TT9 rather easy actually and I dont have a cheat disc.
Mr phonypoly a good way to get on with more senior members at GTP is not to call them names. Most of the older members are respected and are known to be fast.
Famine has the 10th fastest time recorded at Racing Line for the Miata Enduro race. My best time was fractionally slower than his so I also am quite fast.
It is practice that makes us fast not cheating.

I'm with Harry on that.

I'm not uber fast or anything, but I have seen myself improve dramatically since I got the game in June of this year. I use to not be able to race FF cars at all really, and AWD pissed me off unless I set it up so the rear end would bust out under gas. Now I can take all sorts of cars, and do decent with them.

Stop calling everyone that can do something you can't a cheater, phonypoly. The fact is, the tests are doable, thats why they are in the game, cause they can be done.

And lay off the smilies... they are burning my eyes...

Whether or not the ghost is a good idea depends on the size and colour of your car, and how much it will obstruct your view.

The time trials are easy, you are just rubbish Phonypoly!

I don't necessarily agree with this, but he is a very, very poor "driver" - slow or not. Calling someone who can beat you at a canter "you either cheated(shark etc...), you were lucky, you're lieing" is phenomenally bad form and highly untrue.

Buck up your ideas, phonypoly. Saying other people "cheat" when you've admitted wallriding to beat a race is laughable.

My upp-ologies, to all :tup:Considering how many posts i've seen, with people saying how easy it is to get golds, this and that, with a game shark....??And you know how it is...., when frustration gets the best of you??? You say things you really don't mean, etc....., so, again, i apologize 👍 and i also promise not to use too many smiley's.. from now on!! Tahiti, is now.. my favourite race :sly:

The ghost is just a distraction. The only time is is ever good is if your looking for mistakes. in your line.
The only time I ever use it is for the standing-start tests. If I get a launch that is notably worse than the one in my ghost, I skip the rest of the run and retry. But as soon as I get a decent launch I flick it off and concentrate on the driving.

My thoughts exactly. After playing the time trials (just tt10 to finish) I noticed that when being in second place I would race harder and more wrecklesly. The key for me was immence concentration. I felt the AI car was too bold and solid, when they could've been more translucent. Nice idea with the select button, which I didn't know until now 👍

I just run six time trials last night after I golded S8.
I did the first five and then the 9th one which is the Rally track Phonypoly was having problems with.
TT9 and the trial at Tokoyo in the S2000 set fastest time on my third run.
The other four set fastest lap on first lap.
More practice in driving slower cars is the best way to improve your driving Phonypoly.

Apology accepted Phonypoly, have fun and learn while you are here. 👍

You wanna know something funny? The reason i was having such a hard time at TT9....after watching a couple replays of my best laps, i noticed that alot of times during the lap, the brake light was on  i have a habit to drive with my left foot, resting on the brake pedal :ouch: ...this Mad Catz pedal, is too sensitive

Hmm, think of the ghost as a real car infront of you...it would be even harder to keep up, for the fear of crashing into it. It's very distracting.

I doubt your cars charecteristics would change as a result of the ghost being there. The ghost can be very confusing, it's harder to concentrate and choose the quickets lines, like neon_duke said.

I find the ghost very useful to compare different cars and their characteristics, both in handling and HP. I think it's more fun to chase your own ghost rather than race against the AI who play 'follow the leader.'

Oh, remember that your car looses HP the more you race with it....maybe you need an oil change?

I thought he was on a time trial of Tahiti. Meaning the car will not lose hp because it's not an on-going series. If he restarts the trial again it will start from scratch, no differences.

That's true in GT mode. I think a quick oil change should fully replenish your car to showroom standard, irrespective of how many miles that it's covered.

That's a good thing then. Why should your favourite cars diminish in HP accourding to how many miles you have clocked up? It's a game so not everything needs to be real hey? 👍

Even the Real driving simulator has to be unrealistic sometimes. On GT 5 it wouldn't be silly to expect to buy parts that have already been bought before for the same car. And if crash damage is present, body work will also have to be purchased or the game wouldn't let you compete until the rules have been fullfilled.
