So I was getting ready for R2 of the Midnight Racing Club at Nurburgring GP/F, I did a 1:54.011 with the Denso Sard Lexus SC430 (502hp), after days of practices I repaired my Chassis, (well I though it was going to help me with oversteer) but what it did mainly was understeer my racing machine (no wonder Rigidity) and I ended up with 1:57something something as my fast lap on 30 laps race. Therefore Never Repair Chasis!!!! :ouch: :banghead: :banghead:
 
I had to repair my 430 Scuderia after running Le Sarthe numerous times and a the 'Ring 4 hour. It actually really helped get the cars handling back to how it was when it was new.

Well true.......... but it cut important seconds, & in endurance races... that's fatal
 
Do you think it was down to the tune you was using the the chassis restore caused the under steer?

Nop, I didnt change my tune, the chassis repair led to understeer. Some people would say the online, but I just dont believe in that
 
I've noticed some cars I have under steer on line when they are perfectly fine in my lounge. Could it be to do with lag?

It simply means your suspension is set for under-steer, and chassis flex helped sort it out. Fix your tune, and your lap times just might drop even lower than before. ;)
Mileage doesn't rack up online, so I assume you practiced offline (where the physics are different).
You cannot get a great setup for online racing while offline, go into your lounge, or a room and tune the suspension there.

Physics should be the same on and offline as long as you're able to adjust both tire wear and skid recovery force settings. The physics with tire wear off are bad, and most of offline GT5 has tire wear disabled. Most online races have tire wear on, and because of that, they are realistic as opposed to the default settings in most of offline GT5. Skid recovery force on is also unrealistic, but offers a performance boost when on.

I did it offline but it doesnt matter, because I practiced offline later of that race and got 1:57something something (the same as online). Proving Online Offline Physics don't change. The only tune I did was the aerodynamics, Front Max and Rear Min, improving oversteer. Therefore repairing chassis (aerodynamics) would tend to understeer.

Mileage does rack up in online, when you drive a new car, after some races you notice some HP develop and so your turns (oversteer) to the point of increasing PP.

The only option I have is to continue racing and tuning that suspension could be of great help, thanks. :sly:
 
Funny I was going to do a search for this very same thing tonight. I thought I read somewhere that you only had to do the chassis overhaul every 2000 miles or so. Tonight I was doing a seasonal with my Lambo 640 and it wasn't turning for jack. It has about 700 miles on it, I took it to the shop and old Stan and his crew did the suspension overhaul for only $194,999.99. That did the trick and she took corners like a brand new car after that. So I don't know if it's miles or damage or what that causes the frame to get messed up but after 700 miles it was done.

Nope, ran a race then went to Stan and he fixed it up. Ran another race with fixed suspension and it was a 100x better. I did nothing to change the car besides restore suspension. The question still is does it get worn down by mileage or crashes? I have read on other threads it is solely from mileage but I really don't know.

edit: My ZR1 is in the same boat, I'll experiment with that one too and see what happens.

I bought the Lexus months ago and for the first time took it out in an online lobby. It had terrible understeer and I could find sense in that a chassis rebuild, after clocking many miles, might create understeer as a brand new one has too.
