okay so I have too much cash from the wealth of seasonal events

I'd like to know if chassis rigidity restoration in GT auto actually has any functional improvements. When is it actually needed? Is the amount charged based on how much collision the car has taken or just a % of the overall value of the car.

Also, engine rebuilds. When is usually a good odo reading to get an engine rebuilt? Is there significant gain over oil changes the first few times or is it only beneficial after you've gone through say 10 cycles of oil change.

I believe the best time to restore chassis rigidity and engine overhauls is evey 2,000 miles. As for oil changes, it helps to change your oil every time it gets a dark orange or blackish color. And no matter how many times you change your oil, it's always beneficial, horsepower and handling wise.

Chassis Rigidity should only be done if you start to notice poor suspension performance, like springs not responding quickly to bumps. And Oil usually turn black after around 200-300km.
 
If your engine and oil are in the worst possible shape, you'll be at 9/10s of what it will be after you perform engine and oil replacements.

Chassis restoration is entirely up to your budget preferences. It helps a lot if you're doing short high-grip races. It's value probably diminishes if you'll be doing long endurance races with tire wear on.
 
Engine rebuild is necessary when the huge hp drop cannot be restored anymore by an oil change.

I hate to post this but the chassis rigidity restoration feature is crap. There are enough reports where the chassis rigidity restoration has been done, a lap has been driven, or even much less and without hitting anything, and then again the chassis rigidity restoration is available. This feature is not meant to work like this, i`m sure.

I drove my Scuderia lots of times into the wall at top speed, i never noticed any change in handling. Could be that the handling got worse just by a few percent but again this feature is not meant to work like this.

When the Chassis Rigidty has gone to hell it should be very noticeably. And i bet no matter how often i smash the Scuderia the handling will never get noticeably worse. Some people say they actually can sense the deterioration in handling. But not me.
Could be that it only works for some cars. And if so this feature would be even more bs.

I actually did the chassis rigidity restoration, between 5 and 10 times on different cars, but never noticed any change in handling.

Could be that this feature only works when the 20.000 tune on the chassis has not been done, could be but i doubt it. I always do the chassis tune.

That's pathetic on PD's part if it's true! Too bad they'll never explain this feature in detail.
 
The ammount of damage your car has taken has no influence on car's body structure in GT5.
I do the body rigidity imrpovement after 2000km on my cars, it's noticable.

Well it should.

But i guess the way to test this would be on Daytona. To enter a corner at a certain speed. When the Chassis Rigidty has turned bad the red driving line should be longer. If this is not the case, well ....

I was a skeptic too, but the chassis restoration feature isn't crap, it's just a very small increment in loss or gain of handling that to most people would not be noticable, but it is there. The chassis doesn't go to hell, it deteriorates slowly, losing a few % points of rigidity over many thousands of km's.

I first restored a Ginetta G4 with 80,000 km on it. It was a beast before the restoration, and more controlled and predicatable after. Since then I've restored just about every car I race online with 4000+ km's on it.

The chassis doesn't deteriorate from crashing, just from mileage accumulation.
 
I have to say, Chassis After awhile is VERY necessary! My McLaren was off the road on every turn after extensive use! The 500,000 spent to restore was very worth it, and I'm running again like brand new
 
The engine is necessary if you notice numerous hp drops after oil changes dont cut it, but as said before. The chassis adds a noticable amount of understeer, and your steering response is reduced, you are going to nees to raise the stiffness in the susp. But i dont know where specifically, as everybody takes a different
line through a corner...

Anyone noticed the red driving line getting shorter in turns after the chassis rigidity restoration?

I predict the following: when the chassis rigidity restoration has been performed and i will start a race the chassis rigidity restoration will be offered again when i drive only a few inch. And i will drive that 'distance' very slowly. If this is indeed the case testing this feature any furher is silly.

Sure, it could be that the chassis rigidity will deteriorate from driving a few inch from 100.00000% to 99.99999%. Could be, but there is no way the chassis rigidity restoration sensor in the game is that sensitive. No way.

I bet the programmers of this feature are laughing their asses off when reading topics about chassis rigidity restoration. And the people's willingness to believe this feature is meat to work like this.

This feature has to be at least partially broken, has to be.

Only mileage affects the rigidity and when do you do it? i think it varies from car to car. For my minolta i did one around 1700 miles and my ferrari enzo after only 400 miles. basically to sum it up, when you feel your car cannot break properly, or not as agile as b4 then it's time to roll it into GT auto. I knew for my ferrari for sure cuz i always run the la sarthe seasonal events for money
 
I did the same thing with my Enzo after I ran the La Sarthe several times... Then I figured I would buy 2 more Enzos just in case the performance of the current one I was driving diminished dramatically. After the engine rebuild and chassis rigidity, the car feels just like new, but of course this could be all in my head... Yeah I'm sure its all in head.

Well that is no sound comparison, one should only test the chassis rigidity before restoration and after, not the two combined.
 
I've done the rebuild by itself and I felt like it restored my cars power. But I have to say that I could barely tell any difference on the Enzo when I restored the chassis rigidity. I'll try it on a couple of cars this week.

Haha you are probably at least partially right. I do believe it has an effect but only infinitesimally after 5000 km or so, and worthwhile only after 10-20,000 km's. It is really dumb that the game doesn't record when you last restored chassis rigidity because you're right, it'll pop up again as available after just a few miles. Doesn't mean though that doing it after 50,000 km doesn't have an effect, just means they didn't do a good job of programming this function and it's usefullness in the game. Same as oil changes. Wouldn't it make sense to have a record of when the last oil change was within the cars database?

Some people can't tell the difference when they purchase chassis rigidity in the parts menu either but it's definitely there too.
