****cheap Hard Disk Drive!!!!!!!****

I was browsing the plastation online forums for a minute, and found this interesting website that's selling the Playstation HDD w/FFXI (40 GB), official from Sony, for ONLY $69.99 usd!!!!!!!! $30 off!! Great deal IMO.

Of course the price has come down. Sony abandoned support of the HDD and the poor souls who bought it for reasons other than to play FF.

klos, say I have a 55 gig from my old computer. I got a few questions.

1. Will it work with my PS2, meaning, will I be able to save games on it and download content onto it? (i'm aredy hooked up)

2. If I will be able to, does it have to be formatted in any special way?

3. Can I download HD loader onto the HDD before I put it in my PS2? Would this be possible with other files too?

4. Also, if I'm able to, would I have to download a special file form the internet to allow PS2 playback?

It's from my old HP computer, standard IDE + crap, 5200 rpm, 55 gig, etc etc

EDIT: I didnt see the thread below. I just did more research on it...I got a 60 gig quantum fireball!! I'm gonna try it out tomorrow, see if it fits, then buy the hd loader software!!! yes i'm gonna have a hdd for my ps2!! ultimate system!!

If the hard drive fits into the slot in the PS2 and can connect to the Network Adapter, it should work. Almost all Maxtor drives work. I'm not sure what kind of hard drive HP uses in their computers, though.

1. You can save games to the hard drive with HDLoader or HD Advance. Do a google search to find information on where to purchase either HD Loader or HD Advance.

2. HDLoader (or HD Advance) formats the HD correctly so that you can download content later on. I think.

3. You can only install the HD Loader software when the HD is connected properly to the PS2. You can't just install it onto the HD when it is

4. If you get HDLoader or HD Advance, you don't need any other programs to play saved games from the hard drive.

I hope I answered your questions correctly. If not, http://hdloader.com or http://hdadvance.com should answer all of your questions.

Hdloader and them compatible hard drives really put a hurtin on Sony. They need a way to copy proof games cause ppl will just rent & copy now. Anyways don't use 5200 RPM hard drives, prob to slow. 7200 is very nice. And I hope my PM answered ur other Qs > Tripleplay

Klostrophobic

Well, you could visit the HDD forums on Playstations site for starters, but I heard in an interview that Kaz Hirai (SP?) said that they were already trying to make a succesor to the HDD for reasons I don't know.
