Child of Light is a platforming role-playing video game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft. The game puts players in the shoes of Aurora, a child stolen from her home, who, in her quest to return, must bring back the sun, the moon and the stars held captive by the mysterious Queen of the Night. Helped by her playable companion Igniculus the firefly and several unlikely allies, Aurora will face her darkest fears in this modern take on a coming-of-age story.

Gameplay is described as having attributes of a side-scroller with RPG elements such as leveling-up to increase stats over time. Battles with enemies utilize a system similar to the Active Time Battle system found in games like the Final Fantasy series and Grandia II.

The game is very impressive so far!

I enjoy this game, looks very nice. Had the game now for 7 days. Due date for release here in Australia was may 1st I think, but local game store made a mistake & sold me one on the 24th. Oh well.

Oh. If anyone is wondering about the trophies for the PS3 or PS4 versions, thay are the same.

Picked up the collectors edition today. It's an intriguing game.

A little bit like the Trine series.

I just spent my first hour with this. As pretty as it looks on the internet, it's something to behold at its actual 60fps. The music is fantastic, and I'm really liking its JRPGness. Rubella the jester brought back memories of Chrono Cross. For Igniculus, I'm finding a mix of the right stick and thumbing the touchscreen to work best (Wii U); if my TV wasn't so color-rich compared to the GamePad, I'd just play off-TV because almost all of the text is barely legible on the main screen. I intend to try playing 2-player with my wife tomorrow. :)

It's a very good game.

The combat system is excellent, you can mash your way through if you're not into it but there's a lot of depth and strategy there if you want it. Visuals are stunning, music is great, story is really good but hampered by their need to have everything in poems. It's cool sometimes, but a lot of the lines feel like they're prose that's been shoehorned into being poetry, rather than something written as poetry from the start. In some ways the story is classic Brothers Grimm style dark fantasy, but it has enough original twists to it to keep things very engaging.

Pretty short, as far as RPGs go (Steam says I've been playing for about 9 hours, and that's on normal and I've still got a lot of the sidequests to do), but I think of it as a condensed and excellent experience along the lines of Last of Us, which was also short. I can appreciate that they made a great game and didn't add too much filler simply for the sake of stretching it out.
