Chips: Attack Cat

My room mate's cat, Chips, has been through a lot in his life. He overdosed on my dog's pain pills and spent three days at the vet on IVs and such. He was run over by a truck. He was squished in the garage door. That all in the past nine months. He's over six years old so I'm sure there have been plenty of other horrible things happen to him. For starters I'm told his entire family, raised in a barn, were eaten by coyotes.

But we know everything is ok with Chips when he brings home the meat.

Ahh, good old baby bunnies as a gift. He likes you. One of my older cats caught several when he was little - in fact, they were nearly as big as he was.

Good job, Chips, and thanks for the gift of respect.
 
Yuck. I sure wouldn't like to clean that off the floor...

Precisely. My lady and I give Sir Chips much praise when he brings us gifts. But his owner just calls him an evil murdering bastard. He does not understand what all the deliveries mean, apparently.

And yes, cleaning up is no fun. But that's part of the cycle.

One of my friends had a cat just like that. Oldly enough, his name was Magic. No relation.

We had the pleasure of watching him chase down a bunny once, and then afterwards walked up to us and put it at our feet. We were amazed every time there was something at the door.

The bunny's unlucky front left foot was seperated from the rest of the bunny and moved several inches from his body.

Rabbits have four feet and they still die. Where does this myth come from about lucky rabbits' feet?

Cats are the greatess for gifts. Dog bring you your slipper or teh paper, cats bring you dead animals :D

Mine used to bring back voles, young brids, field mice etc. They one brought back a live mouse, released it in their room and then killed it over night placing the body by the door.

So clever :lol:
 
Chips brought a mouse back one day, alive. I was carring an armload of stuff to the car and left the house-door open. I saw him jump on the fence with the mouse in his mouth. "Good kitty! Excellent kill. You're so great ... hey. Don't go in the house with that. OH ****! IS THAT THING ALIVE? STOP STOP STOP!!!!!" Cat enters house. "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" I chased him down, scooped him up, with mouse in mouth, wriggling, and tossed him back into the garage.

I've wanted to put in a cat door for him so he can come and go as he pleases, but I really don't want bloodied up dead wild animals in my kitchen.

But its so funny to watch them hunt, in your kitchen. Okay I never saw that, but I saw the mouse hide behind thr washer and sneakily grab dry cat food.

It would seem so. Chips would be using a "boxed" window in this case. However, I feel that a camera could be put in the step looking up. With some color recognition in there too you could get a detailed image from below and still recognize if the animal is carrying a load.

Ah, you could also do it with weight.

Eh, Chips has never eaten anything that is not in his bowl, as far as we know. The 'deliveries' are always complete, even if they're severely dismembered. Also, they don't tend to eat the entire critter. I would imagine a fluctuating target weight would work, based on previous weights, and the margine for change could be a percentage of the whole. The animal will grow and shrink through the seasons anyway.
 
He might be a cat but he's not that bad mannered. He probably eats some, it would surprise me if he didn't.

I dunno. If the animal was say, pre-dinner and ried to enter with a catch I'm sure there would be a problem.
 
Luckilly, my cat has never brought us a gift, why do i feel left out? The only one time we've had her bring something in the house was a bird, which she dropped on the carpet in our living room, and batted to and fro, with feathers flying everywhere. Since we took that away, she won't go near you if she's caught something. But don't think she doesn't make a mess. Every morning she gulps down her breakfast, and once everyso often when we're not quick enough, we find it sitting on the carpet somewhere.
 
Well, I've always considered getting a cat, but now I'm not so sure… :p Maybe I'll stick with rats – they won't catch anything bigger than a Jerusalem Cricket.
 
Wow, your cat catches a lot. My sister and I both have a cat that lives at my grandmothers, because my father hates them. They only kill mice. One morning, one of them brought a dead mouse to my grandma in bed. It was pretty gross.
