What you got this Christmas?

My Wife / Family / Friends made me happy with...
The 24h Le Mans Chronicles
Tracks - A book with more than 200 awesome Nordschleife Pics
A Senna Biography
40th Anniversary N24 DVD Set
Alpinestars Karting Gloves
And a Monster :)

The usual chocolates and smellies, but more impressively (and unexpectedly), a Bosch drill and a Bose Wave System III.

I got some new Jeans. And.....that's it. My family doesn't exactly make a lot of money and we all struggle, so we do a gift exchange with a $25 limit. May not seem like much, but we make do. :(

A few design books - notably, one from Alain de Botton, and a massive hardcover on Bauhaus - and a handful of different gift certificates to deal with for most of the year. Some bourbon too, but the most thoughtful one (so far, as there's Orthodox Christmas on the 7th):

Spuuuuuuuuunky! :D

Got some money, some candy, and some very nice headphones. Pretty good, overall.

Ladies like a man that smells nice and has hair.

Sony MDR-7506. Supposedly some of the best you can get, period. So far, they seem pretty damn spectacular.

Not saying you had control of the purchase, but Audio Technica ATH-M50's are a decent step up from those at a slightly higher price of $20 dollars more. Are you new to audio?

Nothing from anyone. Meh.

Same here. I wasn't expecting anything anyway. I have no use for anything.

I did receive a GoPro Black for my tour but that is for my motorbike. So the bike got a gift, not me (I will give it back when finished with it).

Oh, my old man bought me a double Baileys & Jameson's, offered with the intention that I make it the last drink of the night. It was.

Well, to be honest, I went to my dad asking for comfortable earbuds, and ended up with these. So yes, I'm very new to audio.

Most of the presents I got were clothes, but then there was the pièce de résistance;

1:24 scale. Includes an opening hood and 'trunk' as well as working roof flaps.

Yeah, props to your dad. I did my switch from earbuds about a year ago and it is something I won't regret. You'll probably catch yourself experimenting with other headphones, which that is something that I do a-lot :p

My family noticed my love for music and got me these for Christmas.

Full Olympic weight set and bench. I'm very happy, my home gym is nearly complete.

GT6, clothes and chocolate etc and a book on the history of Bathurst. Full of old photos and stories, which is what I'm into.

GT6

A Daleks jigsaw puzzle

A new rucksack for work

A radio controlled Mercedes SLK which I've had great fun chasing the cats round the house with!

I have a friend with a pair, they're nice, but I prefer my Grado SR225s.

My significant gifts were a Nexus 7 tablet, a 20 something inch HD TV for my room, an iPod classic (needed something with lots of space, and I don't have the money for a fancy audiophile player.), some Beatles shirts, and some nice glass cups with the Beatles on them. One of the coolest gifts I got was an ornament hand-painted by my 2 year-old nephew with little snowmen on it, it's probably the first time I've enjoyed an ornament as a gift. I got lots of other things too, clothes and enough chocolate to last until my birthday.

Needless to say, I ate all of it already, with the exception of this:

I don't know how my parents paid for all the things I got, we get by, but not by much.

Yeah, open air headphones (especially the Grados series) sound better in general.

I don't get much for Christmas but my parents generally got me the things I need over the years and I won't ask for much more from them.

I got 3 pairs of socks. I didn't really wish for anything either.
Reminds me of my 2012 Christmas. My dad just shoved a bunch of plain T-shirts into some wrapping paper. Didn't wish for much though.

Eh, some people (i.e. all casual listeners) will prefer closed headphones, generally speaking, due to the fact that they often have an emphasis on bass. I certainly prrefer mids and highs over bass but it certainly wasn't always like that. Of course Grados being so open is a pain, people will think you're listening too loud at 25 percent volume.

I told my parents that because my brother always asks for expensive things that I'd rather they get me nothing so that he can get what he want and won't be complaining. This year was the second year I suggested it, but they won't listen.

Also, forgot to mention I got The Ultimate Hitchiker's Guide to the Universe. 20 pages in and it's my new favorite book, which was IT before, but I like this more because it's funny and doesn't make me think of small animals being killed.
I'll hate Stephen King forever for bringing that up twice in that book.

Enough Vodka to start a business.

Not even close to complaining. :D

Better than a pair of $1,500 Sennheisers?:p

(I actually asked for an HD800, just to laugh at my parents when they found out how much they cost.)

I got new slipper to replace my old ones, because they were literally falling apart, you could stick your hand through what was left of the heel.
A fluffy shirt, and fluffy pants as well.:D

Also got some MX boots and a 2TB hard drive, but I returned those and picked up a 4TB external HD, and I still have $60 credit for something else.
(I don't need new boots for the winter, even if the old ones are worn to bits, and 2TB wasn't enough to back up all my files.)

Tools for the garage, BBQ supplies, and utensils for the kitchen mostly.

I did get a couple jars of moonshine and a couple pounds of "gourmet" beef jerky.

And with £215, something to go inside it...

A new camera lens, a book, and a t-shirt. Should get plenty of use from all of them.

I've reached that age whimsical stuff is less important to me now than stuff I'll actually use regularly. May try and slim it down further in future years. A less cluttered @W3HS-like lifestyle appeals more and more.

That, and I'm also at the age where I much prefer buying for other people.
