So I was at my Grandmothers house a week or so ago, and she was showing me what she had gotten for my 2 cousins. It was a couple of rather nice Trek Bicycles. As their birthdays and Christmas come rather close together, she only gets them one, large gift. Thus, she asks what I would like, also telling me that the bikes were around $300.

I've got a couple things on my mind.
1. Xbox 360, so I can dive into some Forza 4 and Halo
2. Have her pre-order me a PS Vita, although I don't yet know how much better or more it can do than the current PSP
3. A nice, race wheel set-up, as my current is a Driving Force Pro
4. Any number of other things that may or may not be doable.

Help? It's worth noting that both through her and myself, we donate about $1000 to the American Cancer Society, so I'd say thats my excuse for not wanting to have a selfless present. Also, in her eyes, no is not an option. I'd say this is a really fortunate dilemma, but a dilemma none the less. Ideas? Suggestions?

Edit: I was looking at some nice pieces of McLaren-Mercedes kit, but i wear a Extra Large-Tall, but their sizes only go up to 2XL.

Ya get a Xbox. Dont get the 4 GB hard drive you will have no space to install Forza 4.

Can you swap the Hard drive out like on a PS3? Because I don't think the one with more memory is in the price range. Is there an option to not install it?

Yes you can swap hard drives easily. You don't have to install it.

Are they, by chance, the same size as a PS3 hard drive? I've got a 200 GB laying spare...

The other size is 250. You could probably get info about other hard drive options by going on google.

You, even having Xmas, should just ask for the praise of your family and peers. Why be greedy?

You want a nice bit of kit? I want my sister to be free of a lethal illness. ;)

Remember what's important in life. Then ask what you really want.

I voted "Other", so I'm specifying below.

Don't take this as an insult and more as a critique, but my answer would be "a brain". Then you wouldn't need to go on the interwebz asking complete strangers to tell you what you want as a present for Xmas.

Shem, your, your different! Did you drink too much, too little, what happened?

Whatever you want. Don't let anyone else decide for you. Sometimes you will regret something, sometimes you won't. Using your decision to guide you will result in less regret than if others choose for you. Remember, their enjoyment is different than yours.

Don't get a Vita. Xbox and PS3 aren't all that different either. Race setup is cool but I don't know in my opinion I'd get something else.

Go for the XBOX & Forza. I got an XBOX 360 last month when Forza 4 came out, and it's a fantastic game, definitely worth the price. It's just like like GT5, but with many more career mode events, the car list is more broad, and there's a nice livery editor. But if you plan to spend most of your time on Forza playing online, think twice, as my experiences with it have been modestly entertaining at best, due to not much to do, meanies, and a widespread use of suped up GT-R's. Then again, GT5's online has similar issues, but Forza's online is just boring. Now if you buy your games for a good career mode, Forza's a solid choice. There's hundreds of events, with plenty of variation. Just about every car in the game has an event suited for it. So yeah, I'd go for the XBOX and Forza 4.

Ask yourself, 'What do I want?'. Think about your innermost desires, and what object best suits these desires... You may have a craving to drive the new M5 round the Hockemheing ring, in which case, get the Xbox, and Forza. You may want PS3 graphics, but in your pocket, in which case, get the Vita...

We are not you. We do not know what you want. Only you know that.

Personally, I'd go with the racing wheel setup, but that's because that's what I would want, as I have no interest in the XBox and less interest in the Vita (I'll take your DFP off your hands though! :D ). But that's me, not you. It's your present, ask for what you want. It's not GTPlanet's present, it's yours.

My suggestion would be to tell your grandma to surprise you and decide for herself out of those options. Half the fun of getting presents not knowing what they are. You know? Like, back when getting presents was fun? 👍

Thats a decent suggestion. Thank you for the actual help, as for the rest of you who seem to hate me, Sod off.

I personally feel a "pre-order" kills the special values of getting a gift for a special day, because the gift is a ticket to WAIT for an item to release... picture the scene; you and your other household members gather to unwrap presents. Everyone can go and look at/ try/ play around with their gifts. Meanwhile, you're sitting there with nothing to do except wait for a handheld to release...what real smile is there going to be? "Hey I got a VITA! :dopey: but I still have to wait... :indiff:"

Bare with me as I don't even know when the VITA's coming out, but fast forward to it's release date: now you finally received last year's Christmas present... Will it still feel like one? Or will it rather feel more like any regular gift?

Sorry for the slight ramble, but to me, "deciding" on a gift that someone else is going to give to is rather strange (I almost want to say it's wrong), because it's mystery of not knowing what you get that makes gifts special, especially if it happens to be something you like without telling them to buy it for you... I know it's better to unsure that you get something to like rather than something random, but that's just being nit-picky and to an extent greedy imo. You should be grateful that people are giving you gifts. Seeing the bigger picture ftw 👍

P.S. IF anyone ever runs into the situation of not knowing what to get someone (I run into this a lot since I'm not connected well enough with any of my friends), gift cards are the way to go. 👍

Shem, your, your different! Did you drink too much, too little, what happened?

Drank far too much.

I'd say get the wheel set up. It's the only thing you've stated that probably won't be out dated by next Xmas.
