Chrome line cars. Just Looks, or do they actually perform better?

Well it does say on the card that they are "specially tuned" though I cant say how different they are since I haven't driven their "standard" counterparts but at the same time, it feels they are better. :p

The Lamborghini Murcielago feels like a boat. It just floats all over the road. S3 tyres mind you.

I thought they were the same, just professionally tuned with a nice look. I have them, but beats me if they're "unique".

The chrome M3 has 19 horsepower more, and is 30kg lighter.
At a quick glance, the 300 SL is a bit more powerful too.

So yes, the chrome cars are more go, and not just more show.

Also worth noting they can all be tuned. My Murcielago is tuned to just under 900BHP. But a little bit of advice if your going to do that, buy the Rigidity package because it handles better.

Yep to confirm, they have added parts here and there from engine parts to aero. Their colours/body kits/extensions/wings cannot be changed but the rims can be.

I powered my Lambo to the max, and to confirm, yes it does drive like a boat. Have since brought the fully customisable supsension and it is better, but still has boat tendencies. I lowered the ride height for tracks like Daytona Super speedway and it made a small difference. The Shelby can't handle to save it self, but I completely expected that. The M3 handles quite well, haven't driven the others yet.

Yes but have you guys also done the same to a Dealership Lambo and compared the two?

I.e when all is maxxed out, how do the weight and power match up.

The Chromed Shelby Cobra is a real challenge... Try it without ABS :P

I tried the Chromed M3 yesterday and felt like the standard one... Maybe it's a little bit faster.

 The 787B is fierce! I tricked mine out to the max, and was screaming down the straights at Sarthe in excess of 225mph!

I was not impressed in one race though. Whilst racing Sarthe at night, I had left the competition for dead, with the ridiculous acceleration of the 787B, but I was not prepared for what I saw in my rear view...

I was shocked to see, a stealthed GT-R GT500 flashing his headlights, trying to get me to yeild! I know the GT-R is fast, but it shouldn't be as fast as a maxed out 787B... Somethings never change!

I bought the CE from Game Stop but didn't think about the chrome line cars until I got home. How do you get them & can they be used in GT mode? Is it in the software when you perform the install or is it with some sort of voucher card that's entered in with some sort of alpha numeric code?

I just called Game Stop & asked them this question, the only code they gave me was for the 2 car promotional, nothing for the chrome line CE.

Go to your PSN account control, and redeem codes enter it there. I have the McLaren Stealth and I can't tell you what's different from the regular one save this one has more hp and is a bit lighter. Can't change the rims though. One thing that seems to be a bug me is fully customizable transmission you can't set individual gears, seems like it's a bug to me.

It should be on the back of a piece of paper in the actual game case with the game. then you have to scratch off the back which reveals the code, then redeem it under account management.

:odd: the Chrome line code is IN the GT5 game case....err box, the Gamestop pre-order cars are the Stealth MclarenF1 and the Gamestop branded stock car:)

I have the GT-R GT500 and it's ridiculously fast. And I haven't done any mods to it yet. I want to spend my credits elsewhere for now, but I can't wait to see what it does maxed out.

On a OP related note, the Chromeline 300SL does NOT qualify for the 69 and earlier race. :dunce:

The Stealth gt500 gt-r has a top speed of 186 though needs more top speed acerlation from 80-160 is rapid though.

Excellent, thanks for letting me know. I haven't had a lot of time as I thought to devote to GT5 since it's release, the holidays & family kept me extremely busy.

So is anyone like me, and refuse to use the Chromeline and Stealth cars because they don't want to put any mileage on them whatsover?

Thankfully you can use them in multiplayer as mileage doesn't accumulate there.

The oil change trick also works on the CE bonus cars. $250 and you get a nice 30 HP boost. I even forgot to do it on my V10 R8 and raced it once, went to do oil change and now my HP is at 555 instead of the stock 525. 👍

I'm looking hard at my Gt-R GT500, after that incident. 👍

The 300SL does have sport exhaust and a brake controller, so its a little better than the stock model.

It's unfair if these cars can be exploited online. Another case of "rich people will win in any situation".

Unfair advantages ftw!

I just found out something very very very interesting.

I was showing my brother damage in practice mode and smashed my LFA into a wall at 200+kph. Now I have to pay $187,500 to get the frame rigidity repaired and no matter how much more I crash it it still costs the same amount. Seems like the max you are charged to repair a car is just over 50% the value new.

The Chrome Line cars (and pre-order bonus cars) are not actual in-game cars and as such do not have a value (I guess). I crashed my Murcielago (Chrome Line) and McLaren F1 Stealth a bunch of times ... they cost $500 to fix no matter how much you wreck them :)
