Chrome paint vanished

I'm usually not one to whine, but this I just have to share :P

After collecting 430 cars without ever getting a chrome chip as a reward, I decided to do the restart-trick to finally get one.

All is well so far... I spent about an hour or so restarting (my wife thought I'd gone crazy I think) and after a lot of Matte Pink and such I did indeed get the much anticipated "silver chrome" popup!

Hooray, I thought. But then I figured that after having spent so much time on it, and seeing how my luck so far would mean I'd probably never get another one regularly, I figured I'd dupe it. So, after having clicked "ok" on the popup, I exited the game, copied my savegame to a usb stick and started it up again to gift the chip to my other account. And that's where it went wrong... no chip!

I don't know how it disappeared, when restarting I didn't get the 430 cars gift popup anymore, so it must have registered that, but the chip is nowhere to be found...

I's a shame, I was looking forward to cruising in my mirror-on-wheels :P

Anyway, I thought I'd share this as a warning to others: don't exit to quick after finally getting your pimp-paint :D

If anyone has some chrome-chips to spare, my PSN ID is Khoin ;)

I've got the final 24h endurance running in Bspec right now, should be finished in about 10 hours, I'll try adding you after that!
 
i have one rule for myself: press "save" button before exit GT5.
GT5 in some cases doesn't save. For example, after using Tuning Shop, auto-save won't happen. So, if you exit GT5 right after Tuning Shop - all parts you've bought will disappear.

+1 Got myself into that habit as well
 
Would've figured the game would save when you earn something.

It saves when I get the daily bonus, so it should apply to earning special items.
 
In this case if he didn't get the "you now have XXX cars" message again on the re-login then the game was saved. Stranger things happen in GT5 than paint chips dissapearing : )

Indeed :) It saved, but without chip :P

Maybe GT sensed I was about to dupe it and put a stop to that :D
 
Sometimes the game wont save the changes until you get back to the GT life screen, but always worth hitting the save button just to be sure.

You also get this with sharing cars, if you set 5 cars to share then quit the game without closing the garage, the cars will be shared but wont be marked as shared or in you online list next time you log in.
 
if ever am cloning paint chips i always save on the 'title' screen where u choose gt/arcade mode.
U have plnety of offers already but if u want silver and/or gold chrome then i can send u a selection through
