It struck me a little odd that the Jaguar XJ13 Chromeline couldn't perform at the same level as the non chromeline version and just wondered if anyone else has had similar experiences with other chromelines?

The regular XJ13 in the game has a higher top speed by a clear 20mph, despite having exactly the same gearbox and suspension settings applied. (The chromeline hit a miserable 214mph, while the normal one hit 235mph!)

This was rather a strange surprise, especially when you consider that the 3 main factors for speed are all better for the chromeline version - Lower weight, higher bhp and higher torque values. Their acceleration is precisely the same until you hit 150mph, then the regular version storms off into the distance.

I've only got the Jaguar for comparison, so can only vouch for that one, but if you can shed light and compare the other ones you may have with their regular counterpart please feel free to post up your findings.
(Be sure to match the suspension and gearbox settings exactly to get an accurate comparison)

I'm working on that for the BMW M3 and will post a bigger review in my garage...

But to answer your question shortly, the M3 Chrome Line is a little better when used stock after fully tuning it it changes and the regular M3 is a bit ahead. More Chrome Line and Stealth comparisons might follow...

👍👍

Would definitely like to see some stealth comparisons, as I don't have any of them at all.
Could also be worth people doing similar things with the GT Academy cars?

I haven't finished the first one yet, so it will take some weeks! With the M3 for example I test the both cars on 3 tracks and with 4 different tunes, plus default settings...

One thing I know for sure is.

The Stealth Edition of the SLS AMG '10 will destroy the normal one, even though the normal one got like 40 more BHP... Because the Stealth are a racing modified car.

Chrome Lines on the other hand are not race modified, they are just chromed and with a bit higher value on BHP, torque, and lower weight (on some it's opposite).

And to Smuttysy, if you are ever considering getting a code for one or more Stealth cars... Get the Mazda 787B, then the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG '10. Those 2 are the ones who are really worth it :D

This only is for the untuned version, at least the weight on the BMW M3 Coupe! Because on the Chrome Line you can't preform all 3 weight reductions... the hp is the same, but it has different peak power/torque RPM and redline!

The chromeline cars look cool, and that is where it ends. I find I get more from the premium versions with same setups and tunes.

I love my chromelines! There does seem to be a minor improvement over stock cars, but I haven't fully tested, and look forward to the reviews from others here.

The Cobra and Lambo make them all worth it!
