The Chrysler 300C is coming to Australia in November but what I dont understand is they are charging $70,000+ AUS for it with the 5.7 Hemi. That abit pricey dont you think?

How much do they go for in the US? $35000? roughly the same price as the 2005 GTO? We pay $60000 for the Monaro CV8. Is the car getting heavly taxed or what?

According to Car and Driver magazine, little V-6 ones goes for $23,595, big V-6 for 27,395 and Hemi for $32,995. Also, those are standard prices. Options and haggling will change the prices a bit. If the Australian sticker price is for loaded ones, It's probably not too bad. Personally, I prefer the Magnums. 👍

$70,000 for a 300C? :odd:

It goes for around $45,000 Canadian, and there isn't too much difference in the Canadian dollar compared to the Australian dollar. It's not going to sell all that well, just way too expensive.

Yeah I think we are only getting the fully loaded versions, but still $70,000+ AUS thats $55,000+ USD.

I suppose its not that bad as it compares to our Holden Caprice price.

Yeah thats what I think, I dont think they intent to sell heaps of them though like their other Chryslers in australia. All our cars are expensive in Australia.

Wow, you guys are right. At this one website, $35000 U.S. is like $45000 AUD. Maybe Australian 300C comes with custom body kits and 20 in. wheels! :D

I don't know about the rest of the U.S., but kids around here see it as cheap Bentley wannabe. Again, I like the Magnum, waaaaaaaay better. I saw a black one today, lowered, with tasteful 19 -20 inch rims and nice looking low-profile tires. It looked mean. :)

20'' wheels are an option I think. I saw a Magnum with huge chromies on the showroom floor once. Can't remember if they were 19s or 20s though.

Magnum RT comes with standard 18" wheels; the only optional wheels on the Magnum are on the SE, which comes standard with hubcaps (alloys are available as part of a package).

Also something funny, I was talking to the dealer and my dad says "isnt there another similar model" (refering to Dodge Magnum) and the dealer says:

"ah yeah um its called sct 8....ah Sti 8....... um str 8........."

I said "SRT 8"

he said "Oh yeah thats it"

He hadnt even heard of the Dodge Magnum, he looked at me funny when I mentioned it. If the Magnum was to come to Australia they would have to sell it as a Chrysler anyway so I doubt we would ever get that.

Well, they could just put all the front end 300 body panels on a Magnum and call it a '300 estate'.
Could make a Ute version too :dopey:

A fully loaded 300C can almost reach $50,000 US. I know the SRT-8 models that are equiped with 20's from the factory will be going over $50,000 US. We just got word at the dealership of the new Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8 wich will be nuts. 0-60 in 5 seconds in a Cherokee  A fully loaded SRT-6 Crossfire is $54,000

Could be... I was amazed with it, but maybe it isn't listed anywhere. I thought they were huge aftermarket wheels (they were almost solid, barely any spokage) but I looked closer and they had the Dodge emblem in the middle. I asked the sales guy and he said they were an option.

They already have:

It's called "300 Touring".

So, isn't this the first time Chrysler corporation has sold a car Down Under in about 20-25 years? Are they planning to reenter the market with a full model line?

It wouldn't surprise me if they are doing this just to test the Australian market. If everything goes well for Chrysler, I see no reason for them not to bring their full lineup to Australia.

Theyve been back in Australia for awhile now (Probably about 7 years or so), starting with the Neon, PT Cruiser, Viper, Crossfire and now the 300C.

They have been fairly low key and doesnt seem to push for much of the market share.

Ok heres another question for you guys, How much does the Chrysler Crossfire cost in the US and Canada? Our RRP is $69,990. I feel like you get alot more for your money with a 300C.

The standard Crossfire in the U.S. starts at $30,000. That climbs pretty quickly with all the options most dealers tack on.

I'm not sure how much the SRT6 version goes for...

What do most Australians think of American cars? Good/bad reputation?

Crossfire lists here for $29000; base convertible is $34100. SRT-6 hatch starts at $44800; SRT-6 convertible at $49100.

BBC's Top Gear programme really hated the crossfire and the 300C (to a slightly lesser extent). I don't think they'll do well in Aus. Too pricey for what it's up against.

Its always funny when they make jokes about yank tanks handling like boats.

Well a 2005 Holden Caprice has a RRP from $74,990+ on-road costs, and thats locally built. I would prefer a 300C over a Caprice.

I believe it's supposed to compete in the Australian V8 Series, right? I forgot what website it was, but I read Chrysler's heading into the Australian V8 series. Actually, I read it was their return to the series. If so, I wish this machine all the best down in Australia with those wonderful Australian folks.

I don't know about Australian dollars as opposed to American dollars, so I don't know what the pricing would be like in Australia.

I really hope they enter it in V8 Supercars that would be awesome, I havent heard that they are yet though.

1.00 AUD = 0.775254 USD as of now

or

1.00 USD = 1.28990 AUD

Which makes me wonder why nearly everything is double the price. (Eg we pay $100 rrp for GT4 you pay about $50 rrp)

It would indeed be a big change to the V8s to let Chryslers race... however the V8 supercar series seems to be pretty locked into the Ford/Holden rivalry, with many of the same components etc. The rules would have to be changed considerably if we were to let the Chrysler enter. There isn't any rules stating each eligible V8's road going version has to be locally produced is there? The rules seem to change all the time.

Well it wouldn't worry us like the 4WD Skyline did :)

I think that's mostly due to the huge plunge in the value of the US dollar. Prices there are probably still based on what they were when the USD was worth almost twice what the AUD was worth, but it's fallen so much that it doesn't make a lot of sense anymore.

I hope your right there John! It'll be good to have two GM makes beating Ford :D

to be eligable for entry the model base has to be locally manufactured, so no, any rumours aobut the 300C entering V8supercars are not true. The most likeyl other make to enter V8 supercars any time in the next few years is Toyota (rumours the next camry will be larger, closer to Falcon/Commodore size, as well as having a V8 range topper)
