This popped-up on LLN the other day, and after watching it, I have to say that the effect is an interesting one. Please, watch...

The catch-phrase is a bit awkward, but I would suppose that it makes sense. Between being sold-off by DaimlerBenz, the possible buy-out by Magna, semi-decent sales despite the absurd competition from GM, Ford, Toyota, and the like, Chrysler is trying to pull their stuff together...

The first commercial is by far the best one there, showcasing the nifty tricks that so many of their new vehicles have. The strange list of features is indeed one of the reasons I'd consider a Chrysler, but then I remember how well they're built, and then I go to the Buick dealer...

The first advert is impressively put together but it seems to me that Chrysler are making a big thing out of 'features' that every other manufacturer has on their cars too. What will their next advert boast about - electric front and rear windows? - Door mirrors on the left and right hand sides? - ABS across the entire range?

Making a big thing about average features firmly places Chrysler in my mind to be aiming to compete with the likes of Proton or Hyundai. People expect stuff like this from a new car.

"We melted down all its awards - and added more chrome."!?

Who the hell let that make it to air?

The first one is my favourite though - because of the effects. The rest are all pretty average.

"It's the way we come together that sets us apart."

More like, "It's the way we fall apart that keeps us together."

Its twice as funny cause its true:sly:

First ad is neat, mostly do to the effects. What they are making out to be unique... just well, doesn't work for me I guess. Especially that gas millage thing... I can think of a dozen cars that look better than the PT Cruiser... and get 10 MPG more than it... in the real world.

Just get bought by the chinese or something already, Chrysler.

OY.

Okay, enough with the Mopar bashing. It's not their fault they're getting tossed about on a stormy sea of buying and selling. It's Benz's fault for hanging them out to dry.

We need Lee back in a seat of power over there...

Actually, Magna (from Canada) is likely to buy Chrysler within the next few months. We'll see what happens...

Either way, the PT Cruiser is a joke these days, particularly when it is still running the old Neon bones underneath, so it is in desperate need of an update sometime soon. But the rest of the Chrysler lineup really isn't that bad, it just isn't quite as good as what you would hope.

I really like the new van, the 300C is still brilliant, and the Sebring is well... The Sebring. You take what you can get, and since they aren't giving out much, you do what you can...

I wasn't listening to the audio until I saw the text "and added even more chrome." That's priceless. Upon listening to it, it's just marketing fluff, mixed over a whole lot of lies, the most flagrant being the running slogan "Engineered Beautifully". It's actually the complete opposite: bland but competent and generic engineering underneath some rather interesting styling.

They should have pulled a trick out of Lexus' hat, and done a nearly wordless ad campaign. Just let the car speak for itself.
