I love Le Mans. It's the ultimate proving ground for any car company looking to really make its mark. Look at Audi, BMW, Mazda, Bentley, McLaren, Ferrari, and Porsche to name a few. Want to establish your own legacy in northern France? I used a the 2004 Pescarolo LMP. For an interesting twist, I used a Stage 4 Turbo. I normally give this machine a Stage 3 turbo to compete against the other bigtime LMPs. I tuned the problems with it understeering and came out, basically a Home race for Pescarolo Sport (assuming that Pescarolo Sport is centered in Le Mans, France). By B-Spec'ing the entire endurance, I completed 24 Hours in 10 hours (unless us Americans get x5 speed). I won by three laps over a Nissan R89CP, then won my silver/red Audi R8. Either this weekend or after my Finals next week, I'll work on getting that sexy Bentley Speed 8.

So my choice to you? If you make it to 4.5M Cr., get the 2004 Pescarolo and play the small role of underdog. If you want to be safe, get a Stage 3. Stage 4 isn't a good idea unless running an oval or a long road course high to moderate speed turns.
 
i used a sauber c9 as soon as i won it n i won it with that..with jus an oil change..but i didnt see a need to use a stage 4 turbo..dun u think its overkill?..i understand a stage 3 on a pescarolo or an r8..on mine i got a stage 3 but my classic lemans like the minolta or the c9 or 787 or the r92 etc i leave it the way i got it..jus an oil change to give it that 20-50hp boost :sly:
 
I beat the C9 in my black 787b (Check my story about it in the write ups forum) it was close but it gave me some insight into the fuel/tyres pit mechanism in GT4.

You all talk of B-Specing the races, have you at all thought of actually driving the races for a bit instead of just hitting the go button and watching as the computer drives you around the track.

There is a lot of talk of how much people have completed the game and I kind of don't rate anyone that has nearly completed it by using B-Spec. Get out there and drive the cars. You may not reach 100% too quickly but the level of enjoyment will be far greater, or maybe that is just my take on the reason why I play GT4.

It seems to me you are all interested in getting these cars and then not driving them. Isn't it the point of this game to be a drving simulator not a method of bragging that you have managed to hit a couple of buttons and got the PS2 to win you races.

Maybe I am missing the point but I have so far not used B-Spec as the whole reason I buy GT is to drive the cars that would not normally be able to drive.

don't use a stage 4 turbo. power is not the key. your B-spec driver will mess up more if you have a stage 4. And when you be spec it, don't put it on overtake. put it on 3 or 4 with no overtaking.

I used stage 4 turbo. 3x, overtake on. Won by about 3-4 laps.

Gears lengthened, ride height raised, TCS 8, ASM off, brakes 4F/3R.

I believe the key is the gears - they need to be a lot longer than you think.

Some of the cars are only accessible via winning the Endurance races and not all of us have the time or energy to play Computer games for 24 hours...

I get moaned at for letting my B-spec dude win the 24hour race... I don't think I would have a girlfriend left if I A-specced it!!

I thought this B-spec option would turn into a question of "personal lifestyle" more than GT4 interest. I, for instance use the B-spec driver as a kind of GT buddy, i give him an equal share of the 24hour races just like if a mate came round to help. This is because when i'm with my mates I partake in other interests (cycling and swimming) where as i use GT as a means of personal entertainment. I don't think it is important to a-spec the whole 24hours BUT it seems a bit off if you ask B-spec bob to win a race you couldn't even if you had the time, sharing the driving equally ensures its a team effort. AND theres no I in TEAM (clearly there is a ME though) HAHA.

I love the endurance races, best part of the game as they actually make you think and drive consistantly.

Far greater with A-spec? Dunno. With B-spec, I'm standardly a few secs faster than the AI cars, so, that's no fun either. I wanna race, not cruise. At first, I did the Le Mans Endurance on A-spec, planning to leave my PS2 on overnight, while Malle Henkie would take over during the night. Where I won 45 secs in just 6 laps, Henkie lost it all in 6 laps. So, that's no solution either. And doing it entirely in A-spec? Cruising for 24 hours? Then I'd rather do it on B-spec and having some good races in Arcade mode in the time I would have been doing the 24h Endurance if I would do it in A-spec. But to win 6-8 secs per lap ain't fun either, but that's my opinion.:)

this is seriously driving me nuts! i'm B-specing this race, and my driver keeps crashing into the wall on the straight losing me valuable secinds. i'm on lap 11 and 24 seconds behind first place, with no suaber and no 787B in the race. i'm getting aggravated!
i'm using my minolta with turbo upgrade 4 aswell and my driver has 1130 B-Spec ex. points.
any pointers?
 
Get more (5000+) b-spec pts. Raise the susp to 90 and soft springs to 12 f and about 13R
reduce D/force f&R to about ½ or even 1/3 default values.
spread your gears more (auto to 25 , then pull back the final ratios)
start the race with medium tyres. run the first 8 or 10 laps with medium tyres, pitting as necessary, but doon't switch to the FH/RSH combo till your second or third pit.
