Circuit of the Americas is a brand new race track in Austin, Texas for F1 racing begining in 2012 and will play host to it's first Moto GP race in 2013. A very cool thing about this track is that it incorperates many popular aspects of other famous tracks, such as Hockenheims arena turns. If you would like to see this track on Gran Turismo 5 you can vote for it on GT Planets feedback section. I provided a link below. I put details and characteristic type things as a description in the link. Hope you guys would like to see it added to!

http://feedback.gtplanet.net/forums...s/suggestions/1745563-circuit-of-the-americas

::UPDATE:: Guys I'm totally aware it isn't finished, just to clarify. The track will be done by summer next year for F1 and I know they already have digital renderings. If you look at the link they already know it will have 20 turns, 133 feet of elevation change, and will be 3.4 miles in length. But I thought the fact that it is being built now could be a good chance for PD to jump in, see some renderings, and develop track as it is being built. If anybody actually was thinking that once the company decides to make a track and it will be in the game super fast, you are wrong, it takes work. But knowing the task before hand makes it better and easier to do, so that down the road it could be released. Really it could come out in about the same period of time as any other track because it does take plenty of time to code a track.

Will it have corners?

This is quite an unnecessary contribution, because even the indy circuit has corners. The right question would be, will it have left AND right corners/turns?

Track isn't even finished being built. There's no way it'll make it on GT5. You can dream for GT6 though.
Cheers'

Here's a map of the track for those interested:

Anyway, I think this looks like an interesting track. However, as said before, it's still being built so it would be very unlikely to see it in GT5. Definitely would love to see it in GT6 though. :)

1 What is the point of this thread exactly ?
2 The track isn't built yet
3 Nobody has even said anything about DLC tracks for GT5
4 If there were going to be DLC tracks for GT5 this one would not be first choice

Oh gee, I wonder? I see were you are coming from though, because F1 and Moto GP running straight line drag racing tracks "so much". I can see how you would be confused by the reference of turns from other famous tracks, and quote: "it incorperates many popular aspects of other famous tracks, such as Hockenheims arena turns." Come on man!!! How much do you know about auto racing? Ya know, I'm starting to wonder if you even own the game!!!

Same goes for you as the last guy

Remember how log it took to code GT5? I'm factoring that for GT6 so for reasons I said in the update to the original post.

I can see GT6 implementing this track in the game, but not GT5.

You don't check the GT Planet main page alot, do you? There was 24 or 25 new track logos posted on pd's website. So ya, new tracks are coming. You also don't get the economy of it. America is a huge target market, why do you think F1 would build a new track just for it, sponsor money. Revenue from America is big and this track is a big deal for American auto racing, so it can make PD money. Everybody asks for a bunch of other big F1 tracks but that clearly t happen. This track is designed by the same guy, I forget his name, that designed abunch if other big F1 tracks and it incorperates the best parts of them, so for a racer it could cover many of peoples favorite areas.

I feel like you were the only logical person who responded, lol. Thanks for saving me the trouble of posting a track pic. Does this track remind anyone else of a backwards Le Mans??? The first corners, if rounding the circuit the wrong way, seem abit Le Mans esk. You get the big long straight in about the same spot as you would get it at Le Mans, followed by the sharp turn and another longer straight with a kink (turn 10 on the map) in it. Then something resembling the Porsche Curves. So if ya go backwards around the track it reminds me alot of Le Mans.

I live in Oklahoma, and am going to the inagural race next year! The look of the track reminds me of a roller coaster, and I can't wait to see Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button work their magic!

I just can't wait to go see the race next year. :D It does look like one of the better modern F1 designs but only time will tell.

Oh and the track map someone posted looks pretty fun. Interesting to know what kind of (if any) elevation changes are going on.

40 meters....

40 meters....

That is 133 feet for you all who aren't on metrics system. It will be the third most in F1 behind Spa and Suzuka

Hermann Tilke is his name. He has designed the following circuits for F1-

Sepang Intl. Circuit (Malaysia)
Bahrain Intl. Circuit (Bahrain)
Shanghai Intl. Circuit (China)
Istanbul Park Racing Circuit (Turkey)
Marina Bay Street Circuit (Singapore)
Valencia Street Circuit (Spain)
Yas Marina Circuit (Abu Dhabi- UAE)
Korean Intl. Circuit (South Korea)
Buddh International Circuit (India)

Assuming they try to have a Bahrain GP this year, Tilke has designed 45% of this years FIA Formula One World Championship venues. To add to this, Tilke has headed renovations of the following Circuits-

Hockenheimring (2010 German GP)
Circuit de Catalunya (For years, Spanish GP, including this year)
Autodromo Nazionale Monza (Italian GP)
Nürburgring (2011 German GP)
Silverstone Circuit (British GP)
Fuji Speedway (Past Japanese GP)

Now, again, assuming that the Bahrain GP IS brought back this year, that means 65% of this years F1 GP tracks have been Tilke-ized. The only ones that havent been tainted are

Monaco
Spa-Francorchamps (Belgian GP)
Suzuka (Japanese GP)
Hungaroring (Hungarian GP)
Circuit Gilles Villeneuve (Canadian GP)
Autódromo José Carlos Pace (Brazilian GP)
Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit (Australian GP)

So, needless to say, he has some experience building tracks with both Left and Right Turns. Personally, I think that tracks other than Bahrain, that are 100% Tilke (This will be the Circuit of the Americas) are Soulless, boring, and lack inspiration. Also, Silverstone used to be my favorite Circuit, but since its recent "Improvement" , I don't like it at all.

Back mostly on subject...
I really really hope Circuit of the Americas isn't included, because if its a Tilke track, chances are I wont like it. I know my opinion isn't probably that popular, but ah well.

Thanks for the facts man! It's funny but besides Monza, all tracks you named he hasn't touched are my favorite, lol. The thing about this track that intregues me is how it will include popular features from other tracks such as Spa, so I really hope they don't, pardon the language but we're all thinking it, **** this up. I would really like to see a new high-level international track in America, I hope this is it but I don't know man, we'll have to see.

If it was me, my track would include elevation changes, a long 1 mile straight, a replication of turns 3, 4, and 5 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, and a challenging, left-hand high-speed kink (similar to the Daytona Road Course) just before the banked 90 degree final turn that dumps you onto the front straight. Just me but that's what I do. I would also make sure that an American 24 hour endurane race would be among my track's sanctioned events. How cool would it be to get to design a race track?

It reminds me of an aircraft's joystick. Or a vacuum cleaner....

LOL, yup, I see it

Yeah, old tracks, from what I gather. I don't know since I only played maybe half an hour of GT3 and none of the others until GT5.

You also don't get the economy of it. America is a huge target market, why do you think F1 would build a new track just for it, sponsor money. Revenue from America is big and this track is a big deal for American auto racing, so it can make PD money.

1) America isn't a huge target market. It's a huge potential market for F1. The actual number of American F1 viewers is relatively low. I'm wanting to say that the US accounts for only 10 million F1 viewers, which is a fraction of what they get from smaller countries, and not much compared to their total 600 million fans.

2) F1 isn't building the track. F1 doesn't build tracks. F1 simply allows independently-built tracks to join the F1 race schedule, if it meets their standards, if the schedule has room for it, and if they think it would be good for the sport. The folks building Circuit of the Americas have absolutely no affiliation with the FIA, the governing body of Formula One.

3) Hosting an F1 race is a very expensive ordeal; so much so that even big name circuits like Indianapolis can't afford to host it. It's not unusual for circuits hosting F1 races to actually end up in the red for the events. Indianapolis used to host it but the circuit owner (I forget the name) couldn't justify the expense of it, which is why they stopped racing there several years back.

4) A circuit being big for auto racing doesn't earn PD money. Indianapolis doesn't send PD checks every week, and neither does Daytona, Laguna Seca, Monza, Fuji, et cetera. PD earns money directly from us, not from race circuits.

I see some that bites my joke and some that doesn't.
You are one.
Loosen up man:)

American people should accept jokes like that since they have so much pride in whatever they are doing.

Speaking of no corners, would be nice if they actually made a drag strip with lights going green every minute.💡

I'll still take old tracks from past games, I'm just glad there will be more in the game. Hope some incorpertare time and weather change, I really like those. When I said target market I was talking about for PD. But as afr as F1 I know all the sponsors have wanted to be here for some time because it is acountry where they can sell there products better then most, so the establishing a presents here would be big for them. I know that PD isn't getting checks from them, but if we are paying for a DLC then money is going into their pockets.

drag strip would be nice. That perception is poorly misconstrued. What about the 12 Hours of Sebring, Pétit Le Mans at Road America, or the Rolex 24 st Daytona? Street courses like Long Beach and St. Pete, Mid-Ohio sports car course, Road America, and Waltkins Glen and Infinion. F1 use to rum Indy's road course and at Bell Isle in Detroit for the Detroit GP.

Would definitely be cool to have the Austin GP track put in the game. There are so many great tracks out there that should be considered.

About those track icons in a news update, did anyone from PD say that these would be added or are being looked at? Just a little skeptical that PD will add that many more tracks to GT5.

I would be a little skeptical to, except for the fact these are all tracks that they have already made for past games. If they are adding tracks from past game why don't they add Road Atlanta, which I beleive was in a previous game of the series?

Well thanks for your personal reply, but did it come to your mind that I acctually tried to make a sarcastic comment on the "last" guy?

Of course just a dumbass, sry for that no offence ment to anyone here, would assume that the F1 or MotoGP would drive on a track like indy cirtuit.

And please, there is a button for multi-quoting use that, it's a bit annoying when you post 3 replys in a row commenting on other posts.

Amac500 - please don't multi post. Use the edit button, or the multiquote

feature, in future. Thanks.

Comparative to most here the track is right down the street from me!!

I'm really looking forward to this and know a few people working on this project in one fashion or another, from video production of a documentary, to being several architects working on the design of several major facilities.

Currently there's 3D models, CAD drawings, GIS topo, track analysis etc, etc that can be implemented into GT6 realistically. In game development there's alot of 3D Modeling and rendering that need to be done on this. So hate to be the bearer of bad news but we won't more then likely see this till GT6. That is not unless Kaz and the GT/Polyphony development team really, really, really want this in the game like yesterday. Not to mention that would be a hell of an update for the game and I think they would do more then one track! We can all wish right?

Here's a video I did in Google earth utilizing topographic information and importing an overlay for the masterplan concept to give some of you fools a better idea:

Its really really rough as the topo information doesnt reflect the amount of "cut and fill" they will do for the final product, so don't complain about that.

Just enjoy and conceptualize ;)

If you want to see more info on this check out this site as this guy has some real awesome updates:

Is it just me or do sections 2-10 remind me alot of Circuit de la Sarthe?
