Need to get back into this, since I want to try things like barrier islands, and a Gibraltar map build, but to my own design.

For anyone that does not know City Planner Plays, he is a popular YTuber who plays a lot of city building games, and mostly Cities Skylines 2. As the name suggests, he is a former city planner. He is setting up a very intriguing challenge over the coming weeks. He is building a map in CS2 on some live streams of a town in Wisconsin called Mount Horeb, and when complete he will run a competition to build in a particular area on the map, and the winning design could potentially be created in real life, as he is working with the developer of the land. 😮

Even if you don't plan to enter the challenge, it may be interesting to see how it all pans out. :)

And as an aside, he is using a mod to create the map for the challenge someone has created with him in mind, which uses Open Street Maps to import various aspects from maps almost instantly into the map creation tool in CS2. It is an amazing sight how quickly it imports the information. 😮 Atm it is a private mod, but may become public in the future.

I watched some of it, that mod looks pretty good! A lot of manual work is needed to make the roads look good, but it seems to be a good way to get the landscape correct. Once that mod is published I might give it a try :)

The mod seemed to be getting updated with new features quite quickly, and City Planner Plays seems to want to change and start again with each new update he gets and he sees the possibilities available to get more accurate quicker. He wants to get the project finished quickly to get the challenge out for people to use. It will be interesting to see what comes out of this challenge in real life.

The map mod could be transformational if/when it gets released for anyone who considers making a map. I would be interested in making a map of Liverpool after watching these vids because it looks so accurate so quickly.

I can't wait to see the next live stream to see how far he gets to finishing the map for the challenge. :)
