I have always wonderd this, why is it so many British teenagers, have a love for Civic type R's? I really think they suck! They do suck completley, I came across a guy who traded me 2 cars over a period of two days, A Ferrari, and a EVO for a silly good looking civic, what is your personal opinions on these supports to be amazing cars?

I personally think the Nissan GT-R is an ugly son of a gun and the Ferrari 458 is a tad overrated in the visual department, but I don't question why other people like them. It's all down to personal taste.

Yes it's certainly down to personal taste. :odd:

And what's wrong with the GT-R??

I think the GTRs terrible, i lire how it drives though, I have a wrx 05 and I'm only 18, only 18 that knows how to insure one on the sly lol

Can't speak for those whippersnappers, but Civic Type Rs rank among the best FFs in the game, and are a fun challenge to use online against "better" cars.

iamsupernasty
The way you feel about Civics, is the way I feel about Imprezas.

For me, it depends on the Impreza. They have changed the front end from nice to ugly and back again every few years.

The nicest looking imprezzas are the 94,98,02,03,05,06 models by far, everything after looks awful lol, o and the 22b model

I personally like my EF/ED chassis Hondas (88-91 Civic/CRX) as well as the 90-93 Integra (sad that it wasn't included :( ).

The EG6 and EK9 are two of the best performing cars in their respective classes, they're not terribly difficult to learn to drive (Though I find FF impossible and illogical so they never really appealed to me) and they're a street racing darling in most countries.
They're easy to modify since parts are so readily available, plus Honda has a wide range of tuning companies that use their cars as bases.

The Red Badge is world renowned, so people want a bite of that fame. That and they're a rather practical little car that can go like hell if you prod it hard enough.

This explains a lot, thank you.

I'm going to be torn to pieces for this, but, I own one of these Type R's. I find them one of the best and most fun cars to drive. I've driven quite a few fun cars in past jobs, including a fair few 'exotics', and this Civic still puts a smile on my face every time I drive it! The old girl is 11 years old now, but she still likes a thrash now and again!

I never had a Type R (I'm not even sure if they ever built a Civic Type R for the USDM), but they did have Acura Integra Type R for a bit. We do have the Si. I think they only built three generations of Civic Si's here in the US, but they were pretty quick.

I had a Civic in high school, but mine was a '95 EX model with the 1.6-liter SOHC VTEC engine rated for 125hp. Basically a step down from the Si. Had all the same stuff on it except the big engine and mine was a 2-door, not the 3-door hatch.

The single greatest thing I found about my Honda Civic is that it was incredibly easy to work on and not hard or expensive to maintain. For somebody who didn't want to worry about having something unreliable, or expensive to repair, and someone who wanted something fuel efficient - it was a great car. It's just a small car as in not having a lot of room inside.

Right now I have a Volkswagen Jetta and I really like it, although it's a little more expensive to keep it running than my Civic was.

I know I'm going to get hounded for this, but the only thing I can't stand about Civics is when people put those loud mufflers or body kits on them. It just looks stupid and really doesn't make the car faster.

EDIT: I didn't realize we were talking about the game, and not real life. Anyway, yeah everybody has Civics on the game. I own a couple and I just have them in order to race in the FF or Civic rooms online. I enjoy driving that Mugen Motul Civic Si Race Car '87. Other times I'll see Civics in the races and just plow past them with my truck or overpowered classic muscle cars. It's fun to run them off the road once in awhile too if I'm feeling the need for some fun. Every now and then I'll bring out the Spoon Civic Type R and Spoon Integra Type R to see if I can get any good trades for them. It would be nice to see the Mugen Civics, Mugen Integra and Mugen CRX-Pro's be put back into the game. They were in GT2 and were fun to drive, but they were left out of later GT games.

Like all different drive configurations, we get used to one and dislike those that are new to us. Having a Honda Civic as my first new car in real life, I had no problem learning to race one in GT5. A well tuned Civic with a good driver, can often school a FR with similar PP in the game.
For example, the mid-engined Ford GT on Nurburgring was a huge challenge until I learned how to drive one properly. Just sayin!
BANG

After me saying I don't like them, i am going to purchase a type R soon, Red leather reccarro seats, Re-mapped engine, carbon fiber roof, etc lol

They are great cars. I drove EK's for almost 8 years. 2200 lbs, double wishbone susp all around, easy to work on, engines very easy to swap, heavy aftermarket, and theyre cheap

I moved on but EK's will always hold a special place in my heart. Many 'memories' in the hatchback of those cars... :P

For me i love them i've have had six of them since i pass my driving test from show cars with hydraulics to striped out B18 engine'd turbo powered street racers. As for GT5 i think i've about five of each model in game i love Japanese cars in real life and in game there the only cars i'll drive. And if ur truly from Ireland you should know that north and south we have a heavy Japanese car scene.

Teenagers love Civics because their parents can afford them, insurance is manageable, and sourcing for parts is ludicrously easy.

It's one of the best cars for a young one to have really.

All Honda Type R's are great cars, including the S2000. You probably need a wheel to enjoy them in-game, I dunno.

There's no such thing as an S2000 type R :odd:
(though I really wish there was now D=)

Ahh... bad wording on my part. I meant all Honda Type R's are great cars, as well as the Honda S2000 (if this clears anything up).

They're decent cars but the one thing I hate about them is when someone gets one, they think they're a race car driver. It's either a huge spoiler or huge mufflers.

Oh right XD I had assumed that was the case but I felt like giving you a hard time cause I'm very tired

Honda Civic Type R ≠ Honda Civic with a huge muffler

Take it from the real drivers:

Hell, I'd take one over a WRX:

That's not my point. Not new cars but the crappy old ones that you can pick up used. That's the way it is around where I live, spoilers and mufflers. Disgusting.

Just because some people treat a car badly, doesn't make it a bad car.

It's a common stereotype (and an often true one) that Silvias end up in walls, Subarus are driven by the worst people on the road and Hondas (specifically Integras and Civics) are destined to have a wide bodykit a loud muffler and have its springs heated by the end of the week if given to a teen.

It doesn't change the fact all of these are magnificent cars.

Eh, I guess it's just personal opinion. I've always been one for classic muscle cars and not ricers or supercars. To each his own 👍
