I though after what happened to me today, i would make a thread for us all to share simalair experiances.

Basically, post any close encounters you have had with police, wether you were guilty or not, or even arrested!

Today, was in Reading with my girlfriend, we were sitting on a park bench chatting away playing on eachothers phones blah blah, then we decided to have a walk around, as we turned around at the end of the park we were approached by 2 police officers, well, we hadnt done anything wrong so thought nothing of it, then they said " we have reason to beleive you have drugs on you, would you mind if we searched you" we were like, what the ****, so obviously with nothing to hide we let them, but that moment when they said that i was dam scared!:lol:

I was smoking a joint last summer with my friend, when a cop car went by. We put out are sig's, shoved the stuff in are backpack. And went into the bushes.

P.S. i have gotten over the weed.
 
Although a stop'n'search is entirely legal, their handling of it wasn't.

What "reason to believe" did they give?
 
Ah i gues si better add the reason, she was twiddling her hair and some people on the other side of the park thought she was rolling up some cannabis or something.
 
They didn't see us, cause i'm a short green dude, but they might have saw my friend, hes a fat 330 pound peice of lard. But het got expelled a few weeks ago, for seeling dope to girls, and they got sick so they ratted him out.

EDIT: O wait Famine was talking to Ashely, cause i was confused for 2 things, we were smoking in bushes, 2 we live in completly different parts of the world so how woulkd he know the laws? w/e
 
There is a local street, near my house, which is very straight and rather empty (it is in an industrial park, and on weekends noone is there); it's an excellent road for high-speed runs--it's about 2 miles perfectly straight, 2.5 if you count the bit before a very slight bend. Me and my buddy finished changing his air filter, oil, and cleaning his MAF and he wanted to do a high-speed pass there, so we went off, me in the passengers seat. We took it up to about 120 mph, right to the end of the speedo, and were beginning to slow down when *bam* pass a police car going the other way. The cop had to turn around, so we took the next right, flew through another empty (but more twisty) part of the industrial park, then idled very slowly off. Two more lights later, where the road expanded to 3 lanes, there was one cop parked in the dealership, and one on the other side in the bank. Luckily we were in the middle lane and not spotted.

I've run a few other times but never been spotted doing something that illegal (the speed limit there is 40 mph or something).

Unfortunately, they put some speed strips on that road a few months after this incident.

(Blah blah blah, street racing is stupid, I don't want to hear it...as well as the fact that we werent "racing" anyone and the only other person there was the patrol car)
 
About 6 months after I had got my '03 Cobra, my friend Kevin went and got one too. We were out on some industrial road that's literally like 5 miles of nothing but openness(that a word?) near the airport, just having fun, and doing stupid crap. I parked my car off in the grass, and hopped in with Kevin. He gets up to 153mph right before we pass a cop sitting off in a cutout in the woods. Kevin does the right thing, and stops, when he sees the cop pull out with the lights on. The cop comes up, and was like, "Wow. I don't even know what to say. You were doing 153mph in a 45mph zone." Kevin's head dropped. The cop then went on to actually thank Kevin for stopping, and not trying to run. He then informed us that if we'd have gone about another 1/2 mile down the road we would have been out of his jurisdiction. Kevin explained to him that he had just gotten the car, and was just out messing around, and amazingly... the cop let him go with an extremely stern verbal warning.

Then there was the time that me and my girlfriend got pulled over in my Cobra by 5 Mt. Pleasant police cars for running a semi off the road. Yeah, I supposedly ran a semi off the road with my Mustang. After making my girlfriend get out of the car, and trying to question her(she knows not to say anything), and having me sit there and laugh at their hollow threats, they got upset and let us leave. I guess they thought they could intimidate me into admitting I did something I didn't do, but I've been pulled over so many damn times for so many reasons. I know better than to fall for any of their traps.:lol:
 
Hmm well the best I can think of is a saturday night myself and a few freinds pooled some money for beer and went off. One of us had a fake id and went into a gas station as the rest of us waited outside by a bush. A cop rolled by and yelled out his window, "hey get out of there". We turned and said sorry and he responded, "oh your fine". We looked across the street and there was a guy pissing on some historic building.

In terms of driving I've had some close calls. I was doing around 90 on a clear stretch of country road on a really nice day. I was coming up a hill and decided to drop it back down to the speed limit (55). As I was coming down the hill a cop pulled out of a farm market and went the opposite direction.
 
Pulled over while talking to my friend on my cell phone trying to find her house while completely messed on xtc and weed, with more of each in my pocket, a loaded hand gun under the drivers seat, pellet guns in the trunk, a metal bat on the floor of the back seat, and a half empty 40oz of vodka (though I didn't drink it that night) sitting in the backseat.

The officer missed all the other stuff, and I forget what I told her about why I was sweating and stuff, but I remember staring into my drivers side mirror between sentences to try and bring down the size of my pupils. She let me go though, even said to have a nice night. Funny, cause thats about the only thing I remember from that night.

Theres been other times, like when I snorted a huge rail in my car while parked in a parking lot one night, and looked up to find a cop parked right in front of me getting out of his car. Luckily, he must not have seen what I was doing when he was getting out to go into the store, cause he just walked right to the door and never gave us a second glance. We threw the stuff under my buddies coat and left with huge logs in our pants.

I've put the drugs down since, but yeah, thats the kind of past I come from. Hooray me.
 
Ok we all know how cool it is to drive something like you stole it.

Well a few weeks (like 10-12 or so) back me and 4 of my good friends decided it was a great night to get drunk and go to some punk rock show (the fist one in a long time that didnt have any emo bands, a blessing to all of me and my punk/metal head friends). And my friend Rizza (not his real name but its close enough) knew all the bands playing, so me him and another friend (T.A) decide to down a bottle of jack while we make the 2 1/2 mile walk down to the show.

when we finally get there the bar has, for the first time, security guards that acctually check for id to get into the bar, which is dumb, because the shows are all done on the opposite side of the building from the bar. And us, being the responsable citizens we are, left our id back at T.A's. so after were were turned away from the show, 2 other friends of ours show up on a, yep you guessed it, a stolen 4-wheeler, which i honestly did not know it was stolen till nearly a week later. So all 5 of us decide to get on the atv, and head up to another show that may or may not be going on a few miles up the road, so all of us being as drunk as we were thought it would be a good idea to go up a main road on the sidewalk.

dumb idea.

now half-way up the road a cop drives by, brakes, keeps going, brakes again, and then flips a femal dog, with lights going. The next thing i hear is bail, me, rizza, ta, and some other kid just take of running like hell.

the kid driving the atv didnt see a tiny ditch and flipped the atv, but still managed to get up and follow me and rizza.

the three of us, and ta as we find out latter got away safely, but the other kid, who i really didnt know got caught, but like a good friend, denined knowing even our names, he only said he saw us and wanted to get a few cigs, and decided to go to some partys with us.

thats my latest scrape with t3h law.

They were teenagers in Reading. That's usually all the reason they need :D

Fortunately, I've never had any really close shaves - I'm too boring and good.
 
I've never had any close shaves, or police accuse me of something I hadn't done. I've been interviewd by police though once, that when I was working for this mobile phone reseller compnay and the boss found out a few of the lads were running a scam and taking mobile phones. Everyone in the office was interviewed and 5 people were arrested, it turned out over 1 year they'd stolen over £40 grands worth of mobile phones.
 
I was dove hunting in the North fields of Etiwanda CA some years back, and was stopped by a San Bernardino Sheriff helicopter at gun point. Too many idiot anti-gunners live in this prime hunting area in the Inland Empire, and would often call the police of a "crazed gunman" in the area shooting at people.

They authorities got so sick and tired of responding to those calls, they blocked roads and put up "No Hunting" signs up near the hunting area, instead of arresting and giving tickets to those making the bogus police calls. It's still legal to hunt there, no matter what signs are posted, and the cops of the Eitiwanda area all know me by my first name because I still choose to hunt there and have done so nearly every year since the signs went up. In fact, every September 1st, the first day of dove hunting season in SoCal, they're there waiting for me as early as 5:00 am. Some officers have actually hunted with me. 👍
 
I've sneaked away from the police before, back in my "rebellious" days of when I was 14 :lol: Stupid vodka... :ouch:

Heh, nice story. I think I like the ones of people getting while stopped doing something legal more than those of people doing illegal stuff and barely getting away with it.
 
In my dumber days, ( 7 years ago when I was 19 ) I outran cops twice, both in the city, both at night, and both in my bloody 1989 Mercury Topaz 4 cylinder. it was scary as hell, but it was weird, about 1:30 in the morning, cruising from work down a 50 km/h street doing 100 km/h just wanting to get home, ( residential area ) a cop crested a hill ahead of me , I whipped by him saw him pull the 180 smoking, flip on the lights and roar after me, its was like an instinc, I didn;e even thing about it before I was turning down the closest side street and whipping through these subdivisions that all look the same...Anyway I lost sight of him for a second and turned down the closest street, pull into someones drvieway that had a camper parked in it, shut off the lights and the car, and ducked till I could just see over the door. I watched as 4-5 minutes later he drove by the end of the street REALLY slow, I waited there for 30 minutes before catching the nerve to crawl through the back ways until I was back home....

I did it once more after that, same kind of scenario, but I had three buddies in the car and was coming home from the bar, I didn't drink but my pals where feeling it pretty good, agauin, roughly 100 in a 50 zone and a cop has a radar trap hiding by a gas station, he zips out lights blazing, the guys yelling " PULL OVER ASS !!!" I took the closest side street AGAIN without even freakin thinking about it, tore throught the side streets, pulled into another bar parking lot when I found it shut off the lights and car etc.. etc,,, never saw the cop again that night.


I can say those two times I've never been so scared and so, ...adrenalin filled in my life, and I WILL NEVER DO IT AGAIN, scared myself straight !

I'm 16 now....not much has happened so far.
Oh lol I once did a very stupid thing. I was at a crossing going home from school. And the lights were red. But I know that crossing good enough to know when it's my turn to cross.
So I'm waiting there till the cars stop, and while waiting I see 2 people on their bikes on the oposite side of the crossing(not motorbikes) but they had helmets on, and white bikes, looked kinda funny. Some car was blocking a large part of their bikes so I couldn't see them good enough to notice they were cops on bikes lol. Never saw those before but I was about to find out.

So finally the cars driving there stopped and it was my turn to cross huh, but the lights were still red. Knowing that the lights could switch any second and that it was already safe to cross, I looked and went down the crossing through the red lights.
Now while I was crossing at that moment, I see the bikes coming into full view as I pass the car that was blocking them. Then I saw a red stripe, and a blue one on the bikes. I slowed down my pace looking at, what were apparently cops.
Lol I almost stopped at the center of the crossing, wanting to reverse my actions to gain 3 second in my trip of going home:p.

I couldn't believe how stupid I must've looked and those cops were shaking their heads like I was the dumbest moron on the world, waited a second and followed me. Then they stopped me, and I had no ID and stuff and I got a bill about it a few weeks later. It was only 16,- though:eek:

But still, I felt sooo stupid going through the red light RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEIR EYES LOL.
 
a few years ago, on a bike ride, i more or less accidently rode into the local US air base...it was before 9/11, the checkpoint was empty and i entered from an already restricted airport area where i already wasn't supposed to be. all i wanted to do was to find a short cut and i was only noticed when already in the middle of the US housing area, where a military police seargent approached me. he appeared to only speak english and i was so damn scared in that situation that i could not speak english anymore. however, after i stuttered my explanation he revealed that he spoke german perfectly well. he then send me back the way i came from, not without demanding me to get off my bike because on the base you have to wear a helmet...

This was a close encounter :lol:

To me a close encounter is when you were actually in the wrong and you just about got away with it.

Well this ain't that law breaking compared to the other stories but my buddy and I found it funny. About 2 years ago my buddy and I went out during a snowstorm, we decided to hide behind some bushes and throw snowballs at cars. We were hiding behind some bushes by an entrance to an apartment parking lot. An hour goes by of annihlating cars and I guess I triggered it by throwing a good solid ice ball at a taxi, I don't know if it was the taxi that did it but a few minutes later a black crown vic pulls into the the entrance and stops, my buddy thinks it was a normal car but I noticed a spot light and push bar and I could somewhat see a computer screen in the console. I gave my buddy a shunt and pointed it out, we were like "oh ****" so we carefull made our way a few feet back behind a bush with thick leaves. As soon as we got behind the leaf covered bush the spotlight comes on and starts looking throught the bushes. If we had not moved back into the leaf covered bush we would have been seen. So the light goes off and we take of running, somehow I think we were seen when we took off because the spotlight immediately goes on again then off and we could hear the car aggressively reverse out onto the road and take off pretty fast parallell to the trail we were running on. So we take a shortcut and hide behing some dumpsters behind a gas station. We peer over to the road and see the car slowly drive around the road a good 4 times. We were there behind the dumpster for around 20 minutes and we decided to carefully walk back home. It close and it was a pretty fun adrenaline rush.

I don't recommend it. AFAIK it is illegal to photograph a cop in his cruiser. That's why he yelled at me.
 
Cause there cops, everything a cop sees is illegal, thats why here in town they yell at people casue theres nothing to do out here.
 
Can't say much for myself as I've got busted for speeding at 25 over the limit. But my friends always seem to have all the luck and someone watchin over them. My friend we'll call, Snoop, and I were heading home from the track(1/4 mi dragstrip) in a convoy of like 5 cars. I'm riding with him in his FC(1987) RX-7 and races with a CRX on the highway. I look in the mirror and in the distance see red & blues flashing. All is good as the exit is coming up and the CRX exits, then us next. Out of all the things to do to avoid getting noticed he turns on the turn signal before the exit! The cop stays on the highway and passes us up as we take a back road following the highway. Like a few minutes later we see the same cop car(we believe) coming back our direction on the highway! Nothing happened as we were under the cover of trees though.

Another time was I was riding with a friend of mine in his 4 dr EX Civic and Snoop was following in his RX-7. We are stopped at a light and decided to give it a go. The road is in downtown four lanes(two for ea. direction), speed limit 30. We get a run to like 1/4 mi or so and there's a cop chillin on the side and we pass him. The cop turns on the lights and both cars slow down. Snoop turns off on the next street and the Civic keeps going. The cop chooses to go stop Snoop. Not thinkin, we come back to look for Snoop a few minutes later to look to see if he's still around, nothing. We even get passed by a cop and nothing happened to us in the Civic. What happened to Snoop? When I get home I IM'd him and from what he said, I tell the following. Well the cop did a dumb move and told him to not move anywhere while he searches for us in the Civic. So Snoop then takes back routes to get back to his house. All good, so he thought, til he gets a knock on the door. Guess who? Not me or the Civic driver, it was the cop and demanded to talk to his father. He was left with a warning, close call for street racing.

Then there's Snoop's failed attempts at drifting. I was there riding shotgun for those tickets urging him to get the car sideways, which ended him getting like 3 tickets on different occasions. I think all three(at least two) were for running stop signs.

Those were like 3 years ago, we don't do anything like that anymore. I'm pretty much chill and sometimes watch some street races that happen by the car wash, and Snoop is trying to get his RX-7 running after putting a Turbo 13B in his NA ride.

It was dirty as hell, so we drew in a rebel flag and 01 on the roof and sides, and then put THE GENERAL LEE all over it. It was pretty hilarious. Everytime we went through an intersection we went "WOOOOO!!!!!" into the mic like a bunch of crazed hicks.

Then, we passed by a cop who was with someone on the side of the road and hollered again. It was great. I think he got a kick out of it, though.

LOL! :lol: Best one I have heard so far IMO.

Anyway, one of mine was on the way to a friends house there is a shortcut that involves RR tracks. I was with my friend Michael, and we started hearing the fuzz and a siren getting louder and louder. We started walking faster but we eventually made it through ok.

Recently though my dad almost got in trouble for the chinese tea he carries. He was caught speeding and without a seat belt, and upon further inspection, the cop thought that the tea was pot. Eventually, my dad was let off with a warning.

Otherwise I have been 'just a good ole' boy'.
 
Cops hate me. Or rather, hated me.
When the Legacy was running, I lost count of how many times I got pulled over for random licence checks. But the number would be more than all the times all my mates have been pulled over, or close enough to it.

Then there was the time the cop pulled me over because he was going the other way and, I quote, he "didn't like the look I gave him". He was in a unmarked car, and I didn't know he was there until I saw the lights behind me...

And of course, when I wrote my car off trying to avoid a ............. who ran a red light, the first thing I was asked was not whether I was hurt or not, but why I was racing. I wasn't. Watching them trying to justify their call after witnesses came forward was mildly amusing, but the bleeding head and wrecked car reduced the funniness considerably..."What were we supposed to think, you crashed driving a turbo Subaru..."
