Sorry for my n00bness, but why?

I think it's because it has their number and name on it, and if you get a picture of them inside their cruiser, you could give it to whoever they last arrested/ticketed/etc... and they could hunt them down and hurt them. It's for their protection.

Cause there cops, everything a cop sees is illegal, thats why here in town they yell at people casue theres nothing to do out here.

O RLY?

Well, thanks. :)

I haven't really had any close calls, I don't really do anything. My brother has enough fines and stuff for the both of us, he actually had to go to court about a month ago because of them and almost got 2 and a half years in jail, I still don't know how he got out of it.

In December my mate got his license, they day after he got it we were just driving around and he has a gutless '85 Corolla so we just laugh at it when he tries to go fast and we were going over this hill and he went "What's that? Scared to use the revs?" and booted it and got to about 80km on a 60km road and then as we got over the hill there was a cop there. He almost wet himself and wasn't big on using the accelerator for the rest of the day.

Years ago in my old 1981 Holden Commodore I had the exhaust off for awhile (except for the extractors) but that didn't stop me driving it around, mostly pretty low throttle to reduce noise but there was this one corner next to a petrol station that had wet roads and I couldn't help myself, I turned the corner and put my foot down wheel spinning like crazy and making heaps of noise........ then my friend yelled "Cops!", I look right to the petrol station and there was a cop car and two female Police officers filling fuel laughing their ass off at me. I was extremely relived to see they were amused but I got the hell out of there.

Another time I noticed a cop car following me for awhile, I was in the same Holden Commodore and I was headed for the same petrol station (near my house), about 2km's from the petrol station the police car started getting real close to my rear bumper tail gating me, then he started flashing he headlights and looking at his face in the mirror he didn't look very happy. I didn't stop because I knew the petrol station was soon and he wasn't officially trying to pull me over but rather just harass me.
I stopped in the Petrol station and he pulled up on the outskirts of the petrol station watching me constantly waiting for me to continue. I went in to pay for the petrol and in that time he looked away and saw a car parked on the side of the road and got out to check it over, when I saw this opportunity I swiftly got to my car and escaped through a different exit and got away. I don't have a clue what his problem was.

I have many other narrow encounters but maybe another time :)

heh, this reminds me of when i was stopped by the cops a while back.
i was driving reasonably normally. (well ok so it was quickly accelerating but not breaking the speed limit, when i was younger), i saw the cop car as i passed it, at a junction and started to calm down a little. After id driven a further half a mile and over a brigde i was stopped at a bus stop.
I was asked to produce i.d. and told 'can you please step out of the vehicle sir', where i was then breathalized and let off, because i hadnt had any to drink at all.

Oh yeah I just remembered another good close encounter.

I was working late at night on my car with my father (in a garage my dad rents) on my 1971 Holden Monaro GTS, which was a 186S 6 cylinder engine originally and my father and I was swapping it out for a Chevrolet 350 small block. That night we had finally got most the 'bugs' out of it (mainly the headers were causing problems) and I was driving home and stopped at a red light, it was late and I didn't notice anyone around so when it went green I floored it and peeled out all the way across the traffic lights, I had a grin on my face until a few seconds later a cop had his lights on :(.
I pulled up and the cop asked for my excuse and I didn't have one, so he asked for my license (I was a P plater at the time) and I couldn't find it, he was about to fine me but I explained to him that my dad and I just got it running right and I was on my way home with my dad following, so he asked if he was on the way and I said yes, so we waited. A minute later my dad shows up and explained that I was just excited to have it running after alot of work and cop said "fine, don't do it again and remember to find your license" and let me go.

I could have lost my license (P plater) for that, boy was I relieved. :)

It doesn't get more Australian than that does it?

👍

How long ago was this - recently or a few years back now?

Dude, no. Have you ever been arrested, or gotten a ticket? The arresting/issuing officer's name, and badge #, is always on the ticket. I seriously doubt that it's illegal. You ever watch COPS? What about the news? Never once are those cars blurred out, or anything.

I think the officer was just being a dick. 👎

I've never had a serious run-in with the police, but I still get intimidated by them when one is following me while I'm driving. It's hard for me to respect something I fear; it's much easier to hate it.
