Quick Question: Has anyone ever won a 2.0 competition with an unedited pic?
I'm asking this 'cause I want to join comps with 2.0 rules, but unfortunately, I don't have good editing skills and a good editing software (I have GIMP 2.6, but I don't know how to get the best out of it). So I was thinking of joining 2.0 comps with unedited photos.

I think there're two back in early days but i wouldn't recommend you entering without doing editing nowdays. :indiff:

The level have been high since last year so, you've fairly low chance get into the poll, let alone win it with unedited.
Just from my observation.

Then can my GIMP 2.6 edit pictures as good as other editing software? (Asking for advices :))

Yes, I use Paint.net, which is even less powerful than GIMP. Anyways...

Well, I've managed to win three 2.0 Photomode competitions using GIMP 2.6, so I think it's sufficient.

And the fact that Gtuned makes such awesome images using PDN is just incredible.

Thanks, seems like I'll have to explore the limits of GIMP :)

Gimp is not an official program for doing design though, so if you are planning to do digital designs for business purposes, the accepted tool is Photoshop.
Just saying, that is what I was told by my "Art With The Computer" professor.

...But this about minor image manipulation for enhancement purposes. :p

You could try photoscape since it has settings for lighting/contrast/bloom etc pretty easy to use and it has served me pretty well so far 👍

I'm pretty sure he's wrong then. I've done alot of custom design stuff for people with just paint.net. It's not official, it's just what you like to use.
And Fishy's got a point, All this is for is minor editing.

Entry will be coming once Flickr is back online

I don't own photoshop, and I have used Gimp for over two years now. My professor said that, and he isn't one of those professors that doesn't know what he is talking about.
I can't remember exactly why he said that photoshop was more accepted. Probably because you can get an official acredidation(spelling might be wrong) in the use of photoshop, like any Microsoft Office or Adobe Editing Program.
Gimp isn't an acredidated photo manipulation program I think, I might be wrong.
But, if you put on your resume you have a large amount of experience with gimp, they might be think "what?", compared to if it was Adobe Photoshop.
But, this is mainly for people pursuing a career in art, so it probably isn't that big of a deal to y'all.

But does that really matter? If you are trying to pursue a degree, or trying to get a job, can't you just get GIMP running and actually show what you are capable of. And yes, it is probably so that a lot more people not too interested in image manipulation know what PhotoShop is, and haven't ever heard of GIMP, but I think you could still pull of some great work in GIMP.
