Nice! I use lots of different layers when adding bits on, that way I can take them off again easy if I change my mind. My entry currently has over 20 layers.

I use lots of layers! :lol: I have about.... ~100+! :crazy: But I figured out that the best way to add stuff to the car is make 3D models. :)

Edit: Also Nato, the muzzle flash in your picture is kinda weird.. :indiff: This is the one I used if you'd like it.

Thanks, the muzzle flash is one of the things I'm planning on changing. I don't have a 3D modeller yet but that's definitely the best way to get the perfect results.

No problem. :) And just download Google sketchup, even if you can't model what you need, chances are you can find it in the 3D warehouse. :)

Good.
Take out the black. (GIMP's "color to alpha" works a lot better than Photoshop's "select color range", and it's free! You don't have a black outline.)
Congrats. Now, scale and rotate the explosion over your car how you want it. If the explosion is behind, mask the car back in front.
Duplicate the layer, gaussian blur the bottom explosion, around 50 px. Now blur the top one, around 5 px.
Merge.
If needed, add orange and red with an airbrush over the edges of a car to give a glow.
Color correct if needed.
There. Explosion tutorial in 30 seconds.

You can just use brushes... Or lots of cloud renders.

I'm away for a couple of days so I may not get any more done on my entry but I have updated it a bit.
