Further explanation of the theme, provided by zambuca:

"This weeks theme is very open and deals with the use of light. You can interpret it any way you want (sunlight, headlights, etc.) but it has to be very visible that the light has a strong effect in the photo. (But please, not too many sunsets in Toscana)."

Competition News:

Wooo, new record; was able to get the poll up within sixty seconds of the thread itself! :sly:

PMC's polls will be slightly late, please be patient folks :)

Really awesome poll. I've always been a fan of sunset shots, of which this poll has plenty. I really liked DarkR's photo, though the shadow doesn't quite match up with the light source, so I ended up voting for the Toyota 7 shot.

Also, could I get some feedback on my shot? I thought it was pretty good, though I guess it was either too alternative, or didn't quite fit the theme enough (or both):

Damn, I didn't make the cut. Oh well. I can see why. Some great shots in the poll. Good luck guys!

Could you give me some feedback on my entry, zambuca?

Light's impact on the photo is not strong enough?

I would like to now your opinion on my entry.

Would also like some feedback on what could be improved. :)

Can I have feedback on my entry?

I also would like some feedback.. I still can't choose which shot to vote for... Too many great shots!

that one had my vote ^ why was it not picked thats an amazing shot better then quite a few of the picked

Hi guys!

First of all - thanks again for the great entries. Now that I see the poll I realize that there's a lot of sunshine up there. It wasn't necessarily a demand, but it just ended up that way, since I think all photos in the poll clearly has light as a theme. There were great shots that were left out - even some very creative ones. For example Taiga's spotlights; I really like a different approach, but that photo lacked a little bit of beauty. And Dolp's amazing painting (is it a van Gogh?) - that unfortunately had too many weird rendering issues in the reflections.

Feedback time!

Fysho:
The photo sure fits the theme - but it's too simple. Something is missing there, either a bit more of the track or the silhouette of a car in the background.

Koios:
I actually loved your entry. But it needed a bit of cleanup around the back lights of the Skyline.

GT HP Nut:
Love that Aston - but the soft shine was not enough light imo.

09fordfx4:
It's a good idea with the sun and head lights. But I think that idea could be enhanced with a different crop.

zzz_pt:
I like the atmosphere and composition. I like the editing. I just don't like the water that is completely burned out and leaves a big white area that takes away the attention of the car and the sunset ;)

[Nor]MclarenF1:
Very nice photo! But the messy glow on the tunnel roof and the semi visible GT logo were the factors that made it miss out.

kennylmao:
Fantastic feeling that photo has! But again, it's not the light that defines the photo, it's the soft shine. I really like it though.

driftinziggy:
Really love that one too. But the glow and fade in the sky kindof ruins it imo. Would be better without the dark corners in the top.

GTracer98:
Composition and everything is great. However, I would have loved to see a bit more creative editing to make the light more effectfull.

Many thanks for the response ,zambuca 👍

One more while your at it :) ?

Sure :)

I think the ease of the whole atmosphere is ruined by the smoke from the wheels. The photo has a soft beauty that doesn't mix too well with the drama of the powerful wheel spin.

So you think, had it been a static image it would have been more impactful? I can dig it.

Thanks for the response. 👍

Thanks for the feedback zambuca, much appreciated!

Just one more... too bland?

Just one more... too bland?

The angle is quite good. And the car always delivers. But the colors are a bit too hard imo. The tiny bit of blue sky in the left side, and the very greyish/black tarmac. It just need a bit more harmony when it comes to the colors and contrast. But usually that's what happens when you take photos facing the sun ;)

Thanks for the response. It's always nice to know what to improve.

feedback?

Can I please have some feedback too Zam:

Thank you for the feedback Zambuca, I can see what you mean with the light, thanks! :O

Thank you Zambuca. ;) It's a water mirror so...it's normal to look like that (not burned but reflective).

What I meant was that the area is completely white. I call that "burned out" ;) But compare it with CCShafts photo. Here the white area is a "window" to the sky. It just works better for me than the reflection from a surface.

More feedback!

MatheusSideways:
There was a number of good shots from that tunnel this week. In your case I would say that the position of the car deserves a low shutter speed so there would be a sense of speed. If you park the car in the tunnel it would look better to place it in another position than the usual cornering line.

cphbullet :
It's a beautiful picture! Maybe it's the ferry that ruins it for me when it comes to interpreting the theme. It makes me think a lot more about foreground/background than the light itself.

mattmflok:
Your photo has such a nice mellow atmosphere when viewed in full size. But as a photo I would say that the composition and atmosphere combined makes it a bit traditional so to speak.

I don't know which to vote for...they're all too good.

Poll's closed, and tonight (or today) we congratulate Miklad!

Thanks to lilmann73 and vrajdeber for the votes!
