Further explanation of the theme, provided by your's truly:

"Family bloodlines - our ancestry - has a definite impact on our lives, there's no argument.
The same can be said for cars, and this week, I want to see these generations together. Show
off the old '70 Challenger driving along with its new SRT8 grandchild. Show old and new Fiat 500's,
frollicking. As long as it's the same basic model name, just make sure the pair look good together!

Poll selections will be based on artistic merit as well as cars chosen; an '02 and '06 Viper,
for example, is hardly a diverse pairing!"

CARS: Any two cars (or more) sharing the same nameplate.
LOCATIONS: Any
PHOTOTRAVEL: Nope

Yes! My 500 shot made it! :D

my vote has to go to the Celica.

Wow. Downright incredible poll.

May I please have some feedback on my entry? Was the crop too dodgy?

i think the other challenger vs challenger shot made the poll because it does show a better sense of action and the tree background was handled well.

Thanks for the constructive criticism mate.

Perhaps next time should I include more scenery in the background?

IMO your shot was by no means bad at all (better than my Impreza Gt300 shot that got a spanking from Slipz) , in fact i quite like it 👍, but when the word comparison falls in, your shot fell apart.

You would have got my vote SVX, if that makes it any better :sly:

Thanks a lot for the compliments mattmflok, I will definitely keep them in mind.

Woah, that means a lot to me. Thanks a lot!

Any feedback please?

Awesome shots everyone! Also those who didnt made it.👍

I guess Slipz still has headache!

I did make the poll, but I would also like some feedback on my image (The blue Golfs.) I haven't done well in the polls for a while and I'd like to know what I can do to make my images more appealing. :)

edit: Feedback from anyone, not just Slippy.

Ok c_f this is a little daring for me to say out loud, but imo your photos are made to look awesome in full size - but in a poll people might tend to vote based on the previews :scared: Please don't cut my head off for saying this, but I think it's true.

I am a big fan of your photos and love to watch them. A poll is very different from a gallery though. So maybe you need to put a little more 'sensation' in your competition entries, if you know what I mean?

from my observation of your shots, they were all very good shots, however, i do think the shot of the golf was there on composition only, as the whole thing looked a bit boring with nearly everything blue, and although this stood out among the poll, but it stood out for being boring.

on how come i voted for Fido's, although the rock behind the first gen celica didn't look too realistic, and the celica itself was a bit dark, he did show the variations of colour that catches people's eyes, and the other hand, I must admit part of the reason was that I was a 6th gen Celica owner, and do not see any major issues with the 6th gen in the shot.

with enough bolicks from me about how others did, its time for mine to face the music

Your feedbacks please

It's actually a really good picture in my eyes well done 👍 . I think the things that stopped it getting into the poll was that the standard window rims had a few jaggies and the exposure was slightly too bright. I personally like the angle used, but it may show off too little of the car's front and rear to have an immediate impact for some people. Some of the road near the signature is also too close to the camera meaning it emphasizes the low res road but that's just really small nitpicking.

What went wrong? I thought I had a good chance of making something really work...
Was it overexposed? Or was it the slight camera blur that panning mode one gave me? Those are the two things I really think might have done it... or was it something else entirely?
Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Any feedback?

What was already mentioned: it wasn't quite what I was looking for, since there's much older GT-R's than an R32. However, the image itself just didn't sit too well with me, the editing made the shot look very murky.

Sorry SVX, yours was one of the last two to be cut! I really liked the colours, and I wouldn't even say it's the crop that got to me... well, it sort of was, in the sense I would've preferred a bit lower camera position, but panned upwards to compensate, getting a bit more of the cars' "faces" in there. I had a Top 20, and cutting it down to 17 wasn't too difficult, but the last two cuts really had me picking nits.

Any feedback please?

It looks great in preview form: some bright colours, a nice composition, it really interested me! But viewing it full-size, the editing was heavy-handed; the high contrast burns away any subtlety, and it exaggerates the low-polygon body modelling and rims. Definitely like the artistic approach to it, and like I said, the preview showed promise: toning the contrast down a bit and/or cleaning jaggies would've made it a shoe-in! Also, go easier on the sharpening!

It was over-exposed, yes, though the blur didn't hurt it that much. I didn't like the composition, as it felt rushed (though I'm sure it wasn't), but even you admitted in your post the pairing wasn't the most suitable. That would be the biggest problem, sorry!

For the record, clever use of background wins my vote this week: to colour-match a first-gen GTI with an MK6, and manage to have a banner referencing them in the picture, made me smile, so ceiling_fan did it for me.

I didn't enter a shot in this comp but looking at the poll I see a bit of an issue,
Obviously people aren't clicking the full size when they vote, the shot currently leading (no offence to the photographer) has a horrendous amount of pixelation when you open it to full size, it looks great in the preview mode and I guess that's where the votes are coming from but seriously people open them up to full size before you vote? :dunce:
There are some really nice shots in here though 👍

+1 👍

But still....the leading shot deserves it IMO!

Slipz: so was mine literally DQ'ed because it was the same car according to your goodself?

if so, what other comments on the pic itself can you give? thanks.

Thanks. It wasn't actually taken specifically for this competition, but very early in my time with the game. It was the first time I was ever doing the MR Challenge race, in the MP4, and the photo was mainly about the Air Brake on the F1. It should've been taken more carefully.
I totally see everything you're saying. Thank you for that, I'm still improving with the photo mode, and even feedback on something quite old is helpful :-)

The freeware photo editing tool compress the photo quite badly and it reduce the color tone. I will try to resize the photo smaller in the future and I guess photos posted in Flickr do have a bit of advantage there because it will resize the photo smaller. Anyway, thanks for pointing out the problem with my photo

Odd angle, odd crop, but very competent overall, I'd say the same as SlipZ mostly.
Any feedback please?
Something strange with this, I can't really put my finger on it, a bit boring colours, and an [IMO] ungainly composition/crop. Sorry maveric, I cannot put it into words, but I'll say that I wouldn't have picked it. Terribly sorry for being an arse while commenting this. :p

Wait, what? I think the preview looks bad on ijhkh4's shot, and that the full size is stunning. Sure, there is some banding, but nothing more than what usually comes up with editing like that in his shot. I see almost none of what you're describing on this monitor, but then again... This is probably a pretty good screen I'm on. But I usually choose like this - after rounding up 3 shots from the whole group, and then watching the full size on those three... I picked my choice.

And sorry to say this, but just stop with this kind of comments. It's good to enlighten people who might not yet have voted, but... it can be said over, over, and... over again. Some/most people won't watch the full size anyway (my theory) when voting.

Remember youtimestwo's Corvette + Corvette shot at the brickyard..? Well, there's the prime example of this.

Thanks a ton guys, I'll definitely keep it in mind for this week's competitions (thats if I manage to enter in time!).
