It comes down to the colour of the car, the angle taken seemed to have caused it to blend in with the background.

had this been in any non blue or green colour, i think my shot would not have made the poll

Just curious, but the second shot has yellow tinted headlights...is that allowable under 2.0 rules? It's just the car body we can't selectively recolor, right?

Any change to the car is illegal; the headlights were turned on.

I see. I didn't realize they were that much more yellow when on. I suppose I will have to save my idea for a non comp edit then.

that drift shot is cool and all, but in a CCCL comp isnt the importance, car and location together. Also that image is shot from a dangerously low fast moving helicopter apparently lol... stirring the pot!

Yeah, when I saw this posted in the comp I knew for sure I was going to vote for it and frankly, I thought it would win overall.
Unfortunately because I really like this shot and can't understand why it didn't make the poll, I can't give you much feedback.

The window and the white piece at the bottom tend to distract a little. Perhaps with a color photo instead of a black and white would have been better

If it helps, my shot is taken on the exit (in the opposite direction) of the corkscrew. So I reckon you could replicate this shot in real life by standing at the top of the corkscrew and panning the camera in time with the drift... maybe But I do also feel that sand is really synonymous with Laguna Seca and I've certainly seen shots in previous comps with less of the location showing.

I know how you feel! It can be so frustrating, but your shots are almost always poll-worthy and I'm sure you'll win again!
