Further explanation of the theme, provided by HagbardCeline23:

"To celebrate one of my favourite sporting events of the year, I'd like everyone
to pay tribute to the Grandest Tour, I want pics that may capture the feel of a busy
peloton or a small breakaway group. Car choices should be in keeping with the bikes
of the pro tour ie The very best in thier field, all about going fast.
Car choice should reflect this."

CARS: See Description
LOCATIONS: Circuit de Sarthe, Cote d'Azur, Eifel, Eiger, London
PHOTOTRAVEL: No
UNIQUE RESTRICTIONS: See above.

Please, ensure you read and understand all requirements for this competition. Failure to follow
the rules may result in disqualification. If you have questions, send me a Private Message.
This Thread will answer many possible questions you may have.

  • It is recommended you host your image on ImageShack, Photobucket, or Flickr.
  • Not sure how to post a thumbnail or preview image? Read this sticky!
  • Please use a clickable-preview to full-size, not a separate text link for it;
it makes poll creation much easier!

  • No post-GT5 editing, besides proportionally resize and rotate, is allowed.
[*]One entry per user. It must be your own work, and never previously used in a comp.
[*]Do not ask other users to choose your entry.
[*]Mark your FINAL ENTRY clearly, with red text. On H2H weeks, which side, as well.
[*]You may change your entry once. Do it clearly; edit out your previous entry, and
either post the new one in a new reply, or in place of the original.
[*]When submitting, use either a thumbnail or a preview image, linked to the full-sizer.
[*]Preview images can not exceed 500 pixels in either direction.
[*]A preview image must be representative of the full-size image. Do not add effects to it.
[*]Do not post "Honourable Mentions" or outtakes - just your Final Entry, that's all.
[*]Winner gets to choose the following week's theme, as well as the Top 25. Every fourth
week, the poll will be H2H style: entries must choose a "team", leading to two 12-picture,
4-day polls. The winners from each faces off in a final 48 hour poll.
[*]Winners cannot enter in their own theme!
[*]The Host may ask for the original image and it must be submitted if so.
It's recommended to save the original image (preferably in-game) until week's ends.
Failure to follow these rules will result in ignored entries and/or disqualification!

You can interpret that pretty openly, be it a race car, a supercar, a sports car. Bikes on the tour use the very best technologies available. So think about cars that do the same :)

I'm struggling a little too :dunce: I'm guessing fast car(s) are the ticket here... maybe French production cars would have suited this theme but I will give this a shot anyway and see what I come up with :)

Wish SlipZ had told me it was so unclear :( I didn't waznt to choose french cars as there aren't many french bikes in the field..........Perhaps le tour is less well known than I thought :/

To give you more ideas, there are some popular Italian bikes, that follow a similar ethos to the like of Ferarri and Lamborghini. Then you see more performance oriented bikes from other parts of Europe, US and Asia -Mercedes, Audi, Corvette, Nissan, Toyota etc.

^so pretty much all fast cars???

I'm not really into the Tour de france thing.

Yep, that simple, can be road or race.........

In terms of the theme, I was looking for good pack shots or maybe a nice shot of a breakaway, also certain colours may fit the theme well

For all those unfamiliar: http://www.letour.fr/us/index.html

There's loads of history, pics and vids on that site. May provide a little inspiration....

I feel I should have set a different theme now :(

Hey, it's all good. Doesn't hurt to have a theme that's a little outside the box every now and then. Once people get their heads around it I think you'll get what you're looking for. :)

Cheers mate, the first entrant seems to have understood well :)

I didn't say anything about the theme because I think it's quite good :). Leaving it up for interpretation means we'll test peoples' creativity, which is never a bad thing.

I too read it as focusing on technologically-advanced cars. Cars that push the envelope in their class, even 👍

Yes, I have some ideas for this one as well. I just need to get the car first...

Also, if I enter this, it will be the first GT5 photomode comp I'll have entered. Can't wait to get back in the swing of GT photography! 👍

Ahhh, now I'm reassured after the last three posts 👍 I guess some are more familiar with the subject than others. Cheers guys :)

But the idea is they don't need to be the fastest around, or concept cars, or hypercars, just being the most advanced in it's group or style, for instance the Tesla is the most technologically advanced in the arena of ultra-lightweights MR sports; the BMW M5 or the IS-F are the most advanced super saloons; Evo X or Impreza WRX STi are the most advanced rally origins, etc. A brilliant theme, but not one I think I can do justice.

I think the McLarens would be a good choice, I might just do one as they helped develop specialized's bikes for this tour :D

Quoting Hagbard: "Bikes on the tour use the very best technologies available." Took that Idea, and did this. The LFA is crammed with tech so I figured it made sense.

Similar vibe to TVR&FF's entry. ;) Both quality shots. :)
