You guys really know your stuff. I beat the cup finally with stock M5 horsepower and stock transmission. You guys know how to tune a car.

Thanks a lot,
Jerry

Hmmmm now I can't recall if you can race "LM" cars at the Tuner cup. I think I used the Amuse Carbon R to win that. You can buy that at the Tuner Village! What I *was* typing is probably not valid. But do the race ANYWAY! :D

[No problem dude. Use that MAZDA BP FALKEN RX-7 to race in the Japanese Championship. That Falken should be able to hang tough and win the race without much of a problem. At least I would hope so, I used the Option Stream Z and that was difficult enough. Anyway after you win you'll get the NISSAN Fairlady Z Concept LM Race Car '02. Use the Fairlady LM to just SMASH the crap out of the tuner cup.]

Hey guys. I need some help here. I just got Gran turismo 4 the second day it came out but haven't played it very much. (busy with playing in a band, etc.) I can't seem to beat the tuning car cup on professional cup on Gran Turismo mode. I have upgraded my BMW M5 to about 665 horsepower, put sports brakes, racing transmission, racing flywheel, and three plate clutch. (I really enjoy the stock M5, but I tuned it for this race.) I can't seem to beat it. The cars always can go faster than me around the corners and seem to be able to brake faster. I tried my falken (is that how you spell it?) RX-7, the one you get from the turbo cup, with stage four turbo up to 5XX horsepower, but I can't beat it with that either. I'm not that bad a of a driver, I just haven't had much experience with more than 500 horsepower. I can beat every car exept for the RUF. Any tips on cars or tuning tips that could help me beat it.

Buy the fully-adjustable suspension. Reduce the front ride height to the minimum, and set the rear height three or four clicks higher.

Increase the spring stiffness to about 12.5 in the front and 14.0 in the rear.

Reduce the shock bound to 4 front, 7 rear. Reduce shock rebound to 5 front, 6 rear.

Set front camber to 2.0. Rear camber should be 1.2

Leave the toe settings at 0.0. Set both stabilizers to 4.

You have racing brakes, but you'll need the controller to set them up. Get it and set the front at 12 to 15 and the rear at 15 to 18. Now get the fully adjustable LSD and set it to 10 initial, 30 accel, and 20 decel. Raise the decel if your rear brakes are chattering.

I assume you set your ASM at zero front and rear. Set TCS at 4.

Make sure you adjust the autoset on your transmission for each track. You want to redline just before the end of the longest straight.

Crucially important: You can use Race tires in this event. Buy the R3 Mediums. If you get really desperate, get the Softs, but watch out for tire wear.

Finally, buy a wing, then go into settings and maximize the front and rear downforce. If you continue to have understeer problems reduce the rear downforce.

Do all the above and you'll be going around the AI cars on the outside.

:indiff: This thread is only marginally tuning related... but I'll let it sit for now.

The Pro Tuning cup is not a very hard series to beat, even for mildly tuned cars. Both the Yellow Bird BTR and Amuse S2000 are pretty quick, but you should be able to keep up with an M5 with some weight reduction and brakes. The weight reduction is key, since both the Ruf and Honda are vastly lighter than the 4,100 lb. M5. You may need a power adder or two for the big horsepower tracks like New York.

Practice the tracks. Upgrade the nut holding the wheel before you start wrenching on the car too much.

Thanks a lot guys. I will have to try out the advice you give me. Since I can play only two hours a day,(and that time diminishes with all the things I do), I am not that great at the game, but not that bad. I will try some of those techniques tonite. I'm not experienced at all with higher horsepower as I have said (above 500 is more than I usually drive with) and need to practice braking earlier because of the higher speeds I reach. That is most of my problem. I always brake way too late. Thanks a lot for you guy's time and effort.

I had the same problem. Problem is, tires !!! You cant brake at the last minute and turn much better then when you have racing tires... You just need some practice with the sport tires to learn to brake earlier. :)

Thanks a lot guys for your advice. I've now successfully beaten the tuning car cup with my M5 without any horsepower upgrades. I just can't figure out how to close this thread. I try to close it but it says I don't have the privelages. Thanks again.

lol... To close your threads you need to be Premium Member of GTP. Just mark [CLOSED] in the title, it would be ok :)

I have the Nismo 400R and tried for two days to beat it. I had the Stage 1 Turbo, Full suspension, full compliment of drivetrain mods, engine mods, racing muffler, etc, etc. The only things I was missing was the Rollcage, turbos 2-4, and intercooler. I thought I was perfect... BUT, I hadn't changed from Sport tires yet. I had no grip and lost WAY too much speed in the corners.

Solution: Use the 400R, Medium Racing tires, full mods (u don't even need turbo 1), no traction or assistance controlls, full downforce, strong brakes, and tweak the suspension settings. Make sure that you are on the top of the largest gear by the end of the long straightaway, and you should be good.

Tires and brakes are the key. If u can stop later, corner tighter, and accelerate quicker, it is yours!
