I don't mean any disrespect to Jordan, but closing that thread was a dumb move. It is one of the longest threads in all of the Gran Turismo Forums (or any forums for that matter). We must let it run its course. Please, help me to get Jordan to reconsidder.

The thread is closed like it should be. I dont really approve of the new chat system due to morons such as MistaX and ViperConcept arguing, but what can you do.

 What's done is done, and it's run it's course. Time to move on with change with the use of this new technology that Jordan has facilitated!

Amen to that!

This thread is a huge point to remember GTPlanet by. It's always there. I for one can say that without that thread, my interest in GTP would have never piqued and I would have not posted more than 100 times.

Glad it is closed. I was tired of deleting those GTP notices on my junk email.

You know you can edit this so you don't receive the notices, right?

So you come to GTP for a generic thread. Why not just use another BB?

No, no - I came to GTP for the forums, but when I found that thread, I knew I had found a certain kind of people, dedicated to the site. I've posted in the thread itself just a bit - most of it came on four or five nights when trying to run it up to the next ten-thousand number like 70,000 or 100,000.

And that's presicely why Jordan is looking for a replacement. It is a drain on the community. If all you want to do is see how many times a group of people can submit useless text, a website with a dedicated cause is not the place to do that.

You know I smell a ban here...

One comes here to read really useful posts (GT3 section) or really interesting ones here in the rumble strip, but not to find such kind of retarded posts like the HMRCWG which is a waste of bandwith.

On the 'top 10 posters' thing, if HMRCWG were deleted, Snoop would have the highest, I believe, and mine would be second, only because I've got about 750 posts in the test forum.

The thread was pure junk. After all, I posted twice to it.

It needs to go bye-bye it is just a source of new members post-whoring their way to 200 and beyond...Its the most useless thread thus far (even worse than "Blue")

as one of the guys that posted the most in it ( ) i must say i'm happy to see it disappear.

most newcomers that saw that thread thought it was approved to post a lot, and repetitively, which isn't.

what's happening, then? we'll have an IRC channel?

Well, I personally think the forum's taken a big step today - there's sufficient size in membership now that we can support a chat board pretty well 24/7, and support the original boards.

I very rarely posted in HMRCWG, but I will participate in the chat room more - it's a good opportunity for the members to get to know each other better.

Well, looks like I have to withdraw my comment, as it appears we were unable to handle the chat room.

Frankly, I'm disgusted. Piss poor effort.

No - and reading through the various posts about what went on with the chat, I'm just really disappointed.

I guess I was wrong earlier in the week when I commented that I didn't think things were that bad. :(

Heh, right after the Jan 18th 2002, that thread kicked into over drive.

30,000 in 6 months before jan 18th
80,000 in the 8 months since.

Ummmm, you do know, of course, that you could simply have unsubscribed to that thread, and not have received those notices...?

I didn't have a problem with the thread itself, because I simply stopped going in it after the novelty wore off (which was quickly). I just find it kind of ironic that everybody was surprised to find a lot of postwhoring in a thread that was conceived by and populated with post whores. I mean, if it looks like dog crap, and it smells like dog crap, isn't that enough information for you to decide not to step in it?

Jordan's made the decision to do this and so I support it. I just hope that it is coordinated with good and thorough moderation by the admin staff. To all of you mods: there's nothing wrong with doing your jobs. You're here to help make this a better place. Don't hesitate to do something that needs to be done just because you're afraid to hurt somebody's feelings.

oh well...

what if we created our own chatroom? i'm no good with these things, i don't know how it works...

And if that make someone makes a scene about you doing your job, give 'em a Big, swift, kick to the Ass!
