Appreciate it if you could list some of your favourite and quickest cars for this event along with their settings, since the regulations are a bit particular.

Car Type: Road Car, Professionally Tuned
PP: 720 or less
Power: At least 788 BHP

Most people have cleared this since ages ago I’m sure and so have I but I still don’t mind doing it every now and then, got some okay ones but probably could get my times lower than what I’ve done so far with assistance. Only have a 4’24.942 as my quickest so far with an engine swapped (LT1-Corvette) Mazda Roadster S (ND) ’15. Probably some nice alternatives around that I’ve overlooked as well.

I don't remember the exact details but I used a 'top speed' tune from YT, it has widebody, maxed upgrades, some aero parts and it uses Wet compound at the front and Soft at the back (Racing possibly? or Comfort and Racing? I'll check and will update). That might very well be the reason. I used...

Though your question wasnt articulated like this, it seems the Porsche Cayman engine swap suits the ruleset the best.

Fun idea to discover different cars and swaps! I think it would be better if we stay in this thread. Some sort of list of results for the opening post would be cool.

I didn't spot this thread but posted a near identical thread in the Tuning forum earlier today. Seems we're on the same wavelength!

EDIT: My current list of wins are all engine-swapped:

  • Nissan Silvia Q's Aero '88 with LS7-BRZ. By far my fastest option.
  • Nissan GT-r '17 with LS7-BRZ.
  • Lexus LC500 with LS7-BRZ.
  • Toyota Supra RZ '97 with M158-AMG-Huayra.
  • Ford Mustang Gr.3 Road Car with Windsor-351-Maverick struggles, but can pull off a win with some luck.

On the to-do list:

  • Alpine A110 '17 with VR38DETT-GT-R-Nismo.
  • Lexus RC-F with 8.0-WR16-64v4T-Chiron.
  • Mazda Roadster (ND) '15 with LT1-Corvette.
  • Mazda RX-7 (FC) GT-X '90 with R26B-787B.
  • RE Amemiya FD3S with LS7-Rampage.

I assume that the engines of these have been swapped? I made a list of times and included these in.

I did some car testing this morning. Mazda is swapped (of course :D)

I havent found any other way to make the Cayman a beast with the default engine 🤣

With headwinds on the first straight I guess it would be faster, as acceleration would be much more efficient than spinning it all the way to the hills, while also decreasing the lethal speed of T1, should have worn my brown racing suit ...
Also a proper suspension setup propably could be beneficial.

GT-R with its own engine. You can also swap it with Chiron engine.

I did 4:24 with bumb drafting but I don't know if it is valid tactic. It is not necessarily very fair if the purpose is to compare cars.

You need to make sure the car has sport soft tyres equipped, then you pack everything that increases power, and if there are some PP left you can use racing transmission, racing flywheel, and decrease weight.

With just that the car will either be good enough, or you wont survive its handling at all (in which case just skip it).
I guess the GTR without swap should be the easiest one to setup, yet not necessarily the easiest one or fastest one to drive.

Edit: confirming my guess, the GTR with swap is easy to control.

The RCF has a significantly better launch (TCS5 required...) and keeps more speed throughout both turns at the cost of trying to launch you out of borders.
The GTR somehow manages to pull out a bit more top speed which was enough to keep up.

And a few extras, some of them "barely" winners.

Has anyone managed to win with the swapped RE Amemiya?? I've done multiple runs but only ever finished 2nd or 4th. With the amount of power and weight it should surely win easily but I can't get it to keep up without bump drafting...

If you've won, can you share your tune please?

Thanks, I'll give that a try later today. I find my suspension set-up to be all good, no oversteer and very balanced through the banked turns. I'll share my suspension settings when I'm on next. I have been using the computer to dial power down and keep weight at lowest possible - is it better to have more power and more weight?? I think gearbox is definitely the biggest factor in my set-up, so looking forward to trying yours out.

Less power = less top speed
Less weight = better acceleration

You want that top speed, especially since the engine already out accelerates all of the AI.
If the AI RX7 starts on the front rows, the AI will be able to use this to draft into your proximity.
If you want to prevent this to happen, stay as much to the right wall as possible on the 2nd straight, the AI wont cross the yellow line and this reduces the amount of speed it gains by following you.
 
The Huracan with the Chiron swap has been my fastest so far, just now clearing it in 3:48.922, 40.008 ahead of the second place Chiron. Full tuning, which includes Ultra-High RPM Turbo, Racing Muffler, Racing Intercooler and weight reduction gets you to 1851hp at 713.89 PP with the SS tires, no ballast or power restriction needed. I just set the transmission top speed at 660 and I was in first place just before the 1km mark.

@Meythia this is really stable. With your aero and gearbox settings i was able to win by over 1s! Thank you!!

Also I found I only needed 108kg ballast at -3 and that gave me 719.89 PP with over 1,100hp.

Just as a nice-to-know info here:
In some cases more weight at the right place means better acceleration as it can be used as a means to reduce wheelspin.
I dont remember if I tried different values or just picked whatever fitted PP.

Helpful! I wanted to maintain as close to neutral weight distribution for this (as it starts with 50:50) and throwing more weight at the nose will just make the rear end more uncontrollable. So in this case I went with as close to neutral with as little weight as poss.
 
I did some setup and game physics testing and here is my findings (some of them are of course self-explanatory):

Widening the car lowers the top speed by 4-5 km/h. I run 3x 4:19.9 with wide bodied RX-7 FC and 2x 4:18.1 with unwidened one. Because a wide car has more surface area which increases air resistance. So if you want to make the car as fast as possible, do not widen the body. I only tested with one car, so the results may vary from car to car. Buying a new body at the store does not make the car unwidened (wtf?). You just lose all the weight reductions and increased body rigidity, but it keeps the wide fenders.

Rim width has no effect on top speed, but it adds a bit of stability. Extreme camper angle vs zero camper seems to be no difference in top speed. In theory, the less the tire is in contact with the surface, the less rolling resistance there should be.

The lower the ground clearance, the more top speed (again less drag).

The most important adjustment of all to maximize top speed is finding the sweet spot between top gear ratio and hp/torque Peak. If you overrev it, you lose a lot of time.

At the same time as it reduces rolling resistance, when the tyres are sticking out of the fender width they increase air resistance.
At some point the games physics wont be enough anymore to simulate absolutely everything 🤣

Also toe-in or toe-out should reduce top speed, as it increases contact patch width while at the same time also decrease acceleration because the engines force is not directed 100% forward anymore.

For the gearing and max speed, while the peak point is important it is also worth to note that the lower gears are equally important to make the most of the acceleration potential.

To add to this list, I've run the Nissan 300ZX with VR38DETT in roughly 4:08.XXX and the Silvia S13 Q's with LSZ BRZ engine in similar time, very slightly slower.

I'll take proper note of the times next time I run them. I've also been running the Lexus LC500 with LS7 BRZ swap for easy wins, but that's around 4:23 time.

EDIT: Here's my S13 and 300ZX times.
