The sticking problem appears to orginate in the rear axle. There are no plastic bushings in the rear axle and its metal on metal there. If I manually push the rightmost spacer to the left while operating the gas pedal, its smooth as silk. Apparently its a friction problem that cant be overcome by applying lubricant. I suspect the surfaces are too rough.
