It still seems to suck. How disappointing. Just got the new Logitech H shifter and had hoped that PD had improved the clutch's realism, but no - within a few shifts I find myself in N, and then even if I depress clutch and whack it back into one of the gears, it won't actually put me back into gear. It seems to want to force me to go back to the same gear that I was in before landing in N. Lose a few seconds. Game over. Not worth risking it.

Why is it so hard to get it to work like a normal clutch?

I’m in the Fanatec ecosystem, but what I’ve done is just set narrow engagement parameters in game. You loose a tad of “nuance” if that’s what you’re looking for…but it makes driving with the clutch actually doable

Where do I find these "engagement parameters" in GT7? Details please. Would be much appreciated!

I just want a clutch that acts like a clutch. Is that too much to ask, PD?!?!

On the main menu in the upper left you can go to your various IG settings. In the screen-wide menu there’s controller settings. It’s in there 👍🏼

It’s in pedal calibration. Just set the minimum/maximum values close-ish together. I have probably a 30% spread between the two

I don't see this setting anywhere. I looked in controller settings. I looked everywhere else in the GT7 in-game settings.

Are you 100% sure about the info provided? Can you take a look and give me a bit more detail about how/where to find these settings?

Would be much appreciated!

Thanks

This works for me.

I think it’s bogus you need to own a shifter in order to gain access to a proper working clutch that isn’t just a neutral switch. Who cares if I only have paddle shifters. Maybe I do t want a stick shifter. If I wanted realism there’s a lot of stuff I could point out about “the real driving simulator” that isn’t real.

I also got my RS H shifter this past week, and while I wasnt finding too many problems with the clutch, I just tried this setting and wow it improved it a lot more than I expected it would. not a missed shift since changing to this setting. I may try the same in forza motorsport to see if it can improve the clutch feel in that game at all.

I moved the top from 70 to 83 seems even better

I'm getting along better with the GT7 clutch. Its certainly added a whole new dimension to the game.
I initially tried the 35/70 setting. Found it ok, but not amazing.
I reseted to default which is min 12.5% and max 100% and I have found this to be better. But maybe this is just because I'm getting more used to the clutch implementation.
After seeing the feedback in the thread, I'll again try 35/70, and 35/83 and see how that fares.

I'm interested to read a plain English explanation for what these settings actually do and how they help to improve the feel.

For the minimum value - I feel is really just about how much resting pressure one applies when foot is resting on the clutch, If one is heavy-footed while resting, then it makes sense to lift the minimum to 35, which effectively means the first 35% of the pedal push (the resting pressure) is ignored and doesn't register as depressing the clutch.

For the maximum value - I'm struggling to understand why reducing the maximum from 100 to 80 (or 70) helps anything.

Any input/explanations appreciated.

The Minimum slider is exactly what you described — it’s the “resting deadzone” at the very top of the pedal. Raising Min to 35% tells the game to ignore the first 35% of travel. That part matches real cars perfectly.

The Maximum slider is the point where the clutch is 100% disengaged. When you lower it from 100% to 83% (or even 70%), you’re saying “I only need to press this far to fully separate the clutch.” That shortens the active bite/slip zone and moves full disengagement earlier in your pedal stroke. On upshifts, when you lift your foot, the game now registers the clutch as fully engaged sooner. That’s why 35/83 usually feels way smoother and more centered than 35/70 (the narrow 35/70 version can feel twitchy and late).

Try 35/83 first with a Racing Clutch installed — it gives a much more natural middle-of-pedal feel. I run the brown spring.
