lets just stop this, i'm in a bad mood because of a newbie who start AGAIN with this GT5 stuff, for the LOVE of GOD man let it go, get a few hours of sleep, oooh...but wait, i'm sorry, you already have GT4 and you spoke to the PD team and you have inside infromation on GT5, and thats why you're talking about it right??? correct me if i'm wrong, you have no live whatsoever. GT5...come on...
Why do you have such a problem with people talking about GT5? I don't understand why you have to freak out like this over something so stupid. I think that you need to let it go. If you have the time to go around **** talking, you need to get a life. Please, respect other's right to speak about what they will in the appropriate area. I thought that was the whole point of this place.

PS:Be cool about fire safety.

well, being realistic, there has to be a GT5 (its a sucessful franchise) , and its probably going to be on the PS3 (the PS2 is under-powered at the mo), so let the ranting commence!!
Yeah, a real clutch (and a gaited gear shifter - and a handbrake) would be amazing additions to a wonderful game. But that would mean having to buy a "controller" that could cost easily upward of $300. But, if you had one, you may probably never leave the house again! As for a joypad, you could use the R1 button as a clutch, because it is pressure sensitive and it doesnt get used in-game, but delivering a well balanced start will be hard. its difficult to get such a degree of control just on a button, ideally youll need a trigger, like the xbox.

There's a PC game out that requires a special controller and costs upwards of $100US. Any GT game could easily do the same thing in collaboration with Logitech. They're already making a 'special' wheel/pedal combo, why not make it really special?

But if they make it Really special then it will probably cost a lot more, making it quite unaffordable for quite a lot of us.

True.

i have chosen not to say anything, cus i'll get pissed on by everyone, because all of you have a right to speak about anything you won't, but when it comes to my ....i get attacked
:(

oooh and gegeyomegeg why dont you respect what i have to say, does that theory of yours work only one way, dont i have the *&*&*&*&* right to say i think, guess not eh?:odd:

Everyone has the right to say what they want - as long as you do not attack another member. Just remember that, and everyone will be fine.

of course my master, i will do as you say, but just for the record, i wasn't attacking, i was juts kinda ticked of that day and now it has turned into something extremely big. i didn't mean to

A´hermmmm..... Back to the topic for a second ...

Just my 2 cents (or credits) worth:

A virtual clutch? Eh?
I drive various cars all week, used to drive motorbikes (had to stop that - naughty, very naughty) and they all have clutches. A car clutch is not an ON/OFF thang, it´s not even a 3 or 4 point thang (how many pressure points do the buttons have anyway?) You ask any learner driver... how many sections are there to the movement of the clutch? I drove (ONCE) a TVR with an uprated engine (dunno how) with a tripple plate clutch. NOw you wanna try that. When I got back into the other car (normal Civic) I nearly got my left foot on the tarmac outside after getting used to such a heavy unassisted clutch (gave me back ache the next day... ) A Virtual clutch on a button... no no no no, surely not. Needs to be another analogue stick for any level of realism (or dare I say - Simulation). Three anologue sticks on a controller? Hmmm....

That´s for the controllers, other than that, how difficult would it be for Logitech to give us some sort of force feedback third pedal? Or am I just getting too darn fussy?

Another thing, for a third cent if you don´t mind, is that on a mildy performance related motorbike, gear change speed is restricted to how fast you can operate the clutch (well, hold on a minute befor eyou all jump), and on a bike thats about as long as it takes to 'twitch´ your left index finger. You try it now, how long did it take you? 0.2 of a second maybe? In a car, for some strange reason, we use our left leg and it takes a lot longer. Yes, you are right, as you go up the scale in driving, you start to not use the clutch - but you have to get the revs right as your changing, otherwise as everyone else passes you, you´ll wonder if you found reverse (or everyone else will be wondering if you had Baked Beans for Breakfast!!) There´s another issue - getting the revs right for clutchless changes in Gran Turismo X...
I´ll stop there for a moment before I really start upsetting people!

I´m not against a virtual clutch - bring it on! But we all know Kaz Yamauchi - it has to be a perfect simulation to make it into his game (The reason for no damage engine - I believe) so... what do ya reckon?

Ta.

N.

If they would put a clutch, there should be an added pedal on the wheel thinggy. It would make the simulation even better, but is it really that necessary? Would be nice to teach ppl manual transmission for real life use tho.

P.S. hint- talking about GT5 when GT4 hasn't come out yet doesn't usually go down well in this forum (a lot of shouting and very messy), so my advice if you can is maybe not quite mention it quite yet ;) .

not to be mean or anything but there already is a R3 and L3.
its the joysticks when you push them down.

and if they put a clutch they could make certain cars mannual and others auto like real life and have an extra license for mannual cars.

i also would like some more smoke and rubber laid on the ground(i think this will have some performance issues though)

I would spaz out if there was a clutch. It would make the gameplay so great. The smoke effects need to be more. Every time I see a car going 150+ on a race on TV, and it spins, there is a LOT of smoke.

Hopes and dreams. That's all it is.

who cares about the clutch. They need to fix the rumble strips ! and make them SMoooth so i wont spin out when i drive a super lightweight car.

You are suppose to use the rumble strips to help you turn quicker. Try to reduce the pressure you put on the buttons so you can turn less sharply. Remember, those buttons are pressure sensitive. If you do that simple thing, you wouldn't spin out anymore.

When you turn less sharply around a turn, you can accelerate quicker because you are reducing the strain on the engine. If you do it right, you go around the turns much quicker than if you didn't use the rumble strips, and you'll get a much higher turn exit speed.

Thr rumble strips are our friend, to be used for our benenfit. So, I hope PD doesn't touch them.
