Clutch slip IS in GT5!

Yeah I noticed no missed gears all day yesterday playing Shift 2. I think that small clutch slip, missed gears into neutral, and sort-of almost auto-rev-matching in GT5 are all symptoms of the same problem. If GT6 fixes all that, we'll be in for a treat. I can't heal-toe on my G25 pedals though.. maybe I should be careful what I wish for.

This is news? This has been around since prologue... Clutch slip and stalling have been in GT5 since the start... People didn't know about this?

Took the words out of my mouth.

It would be really nice if they required you to heel-and-toe on downshifts

I'm sure you already know this, but heel-toe is not required to downshift. It is only used for braking and rev-matching at the same time (mostly while downshifting into a turn). I'm sure you meant to say something like, "it should require you to rev-match to avoid upsetting the drivetrain and losing traction or control."

With a DS3 under certain circumstances (such as just after a high speed spin, or you can force it by pulling the handbrake while moving,) by gently pressing the accelerator this clutch slip happens. The TVR Speed 12 seems to do it a lot, on the redline but not really moving. You can get to about 20mph before the engine kicks in properly.

It would be really nice if they required you to heel-and-toe on downshifts, like in rfactor, instead of matching the revs for you. I would also love it if the game didnt force the car into neutral when you didnt shift perfectly. Then it would be more realistic.

+1 excellent feature.

That's what I meant, if you don't heel-and-toe around a corner in GT5 you should lose traction. Otherwise you would simply double-clutch or rev match to downshift.

(Sorry this is a few months old)... Is there any hope for an update to fix clutch issue? How could it be "made known" as an issue? Seems like it's a simple yet unfortunate bit of negligence...

I found what seemed to be no slipping at all but it seems according to this thread that there is a very small region where it does slip, which is incredibly disappointing, especially since if you just pop open a NFS Shift demo, you have a fully functional, ride-able and slippable clutch.

Although I have to admit, the engine stalling out is pretty neat. What would be awesome is if the game played the car's engine starting sound to start the engine back up after stalling :D .. they play the sounds all the time when selecting from the garage anyway, why not have it when in 'driving mode'

the worst thing is that the car seems to have no compression, luike you cant stall it, put it into gear and it will stay still. the engine turns even if the car is on the tinyest hill.

Its a racing game, you are not suppose to stop the car and try to start it with compression.
Maybe one day Kaz will get us a "Real Parking Simulator" 💡

I looked for the slip a few times since game came out, also my 5th and 6th gear selector rarely worked right...

Has anyone tried to see if this slip is a wider zone, when pedals are calibrated, (twice) 1st when PS3 turn on, and wheel does it's ghost spin (press/depress all 3 pedals 1 at a time).

Then when GT5 loads, does the ghost in the shell spin, again, do the pedal calibration thing (I manually press them with my hands, gives me a small blood flow workout prior game start for improved wheel handling, meh who am I kidding, I get that workout from 2 glasses of beer.

Nevertheless, here is glimmer of hope for Logitech and Sony to kiss and make up, and allow G25 / 27 revised support in game. But you can protest till their pages turn blue on the forums, if they don't , they don't.

Come to think of it, is there a slip difference with clutch plate options , sport , racing? hmm.. todolist.

Lambob - which pages are you talking about? Which Forum? Just want to make sure . . .

Yeah, I agree - there should be a difference with using different clutch plates.
Clutch-slipping/rev-matching is one of the more exciting things about driving manual, I used to absolutely do it all the time on my mo'bikes.

Was hell on the plates, though . . . heh heh - IRL, I mean.
