Co-Op?

I was wondering if anything has been mentioned concerning 2-player co-op in GT4. I attempted to do a search on it and apologize beforehand if this topic is something old. Thanks.

Do not recall seeing two player on the arcade mode talked about much. It would be nice if two players could compete online ( they would have to be in the same race ). It would also be very nice if in two player mode that you could race against 4 other A.I. drivers. Please Please and even God they better have the user garage keep and show all the correct car information. Still to this day, I can not understand why GT3 user garage does not show the real car horsepower, one of the biggest blunders of GT3 in my opion. Also want to be able to have option to change settings and or do a few quick laps before the race. All info above is in reference to arcade mode only.

Yea I have to agree with you man. I have no idea why GT3 insists on showing the stock horsepower of tuned garage cars. The damn thing confused me for awhile, I have to admit. Anyway, like you said, it would be nice to have 2 player co-op with the AIs. It gets boring racing JUST your friend after a while. Perhaps a four-player split screen would be nice, but I guess that wouldn't work considering that wouldn't see much unless you had some crazy giant plasma screen.

You could play Co-Operative in an endurance race... But you don't need GT4 to do anything... just give the controller to your friend that's sitting next to you when you pit in!!

You could pretend that you've got a friend and drive cross handed?!

Or maybe put the controller upside down?!

I've been playing Legend of Zelda (The oracle games) on a Gameboy Emulator recently and one of the "Special Attacks" the final boss (Ganon) does is turn the screen blue and reverse the Dpad!!

Anyways... back to GT... You could also Drive differently... Sometimes during Endurance races in GT3 I would change driving styles during pit stops... i.e. I would be going hell for leather one stint and the next stint I would try to see how long I could get my tyres to last and the next stint I would try drifting instead of best line approach...

I too did this in an attempt to add a bit more variety to the races. Getting the most laps with the least wear and best times was an interesting challenge when you were 4 laps clear of the field. I never drifted though because I don't know how and don't like it anyway :P

My attempts at drifting usually ended up with some sort of trip through the gravel!! (Be it going forwards or backwards!)

I can do it a bit but I tend to get scared of spinning out... overcorrect and then end up understeering!

Another thing that I used to like doing during the Enduro's was trying to modify the placings of the other cars... by stopping one and letting another overtake and then seeing how they fare now that they were in front!!

I generally went for a Toyota 1-2, which meant beating the crap out of the Nissan R390 every time I lapped it.

I can remember doing the same thing in Le Mans 24 Hour on the PSX actually, I was like, 900k in the lead at night, so I lapped with the R390 for a while then blocked the pit lane when it went to enter. It sat there banging me for a few laps whilst my teammate caught up and moved into 2nd.

Heres another game i some times play on pgr2 online, 2 people per team, each team consists of 1 fast car (say an enzo) and a slow car (say a mini). Race on the nurb. First team to get both cars over the line wins, onbviously this involves the enzo pushing the mini at STUPID speeds, and taking out the opponents cars :D, nothing like doing 180 in a mini huuu huuu huuuurrr. I'll be doing this on gt4 me thinkg :D

I found it funny in Prologue when you start pushing one of the slower AI controlled cars around and try to win the race with it
There could be some kind of team-up races in GT4 online where your friend chooses a slower and lighter car and keeps in front of you while you're trying to power you both to the first place ;)

edit: sorry code_kev, didn't read your post before posting

There's an interesting take on co-op gaming. It won't be a defined mode, just something we do when we're drunk enough.

As an example of how terrible the AI is in GT3, when you are racing on the test course, and come up behind a slower car and give it a push, the computer-controlled car will actually APPLY THE BRAKES to slow down to the speed that it thinks it should be going.

Just had a few Ideals on two player arcade mode.
It would be nice to be able to make your own race series, so that as soon as next race is done you go to next race and it would keep track of who won how many races etc. Just something simple, pick courses, no of laps per course,. With all the tracks that GT4 will have that would be nice, to do for instance 4 or 5 races of 5 to ten laps. They could in a way even have something for more then 2 players, sometype of bracket tourney system, where say maybe 6 or 10 or more players picked there cars, entered there names. The game then could randomly picks which two players race first, winner moves on to next race, perhaps it could even have the losers face off on sometype of double elimination format. Sure all this could be done manually on paper but whats the fun of that.

I find it funny how sooo many people are confused about the idea of 2 player co-op. It's as simple as picking a racing team. You'd both be in a championship racing for driver points, manufacturer points, and all that other fun stuff. If team racing WAS included, it would open up sooooo many new ideas and make the game even more exciting. Plus it would be a fun moral decision to make when you and your buddy are tied for the championship and there's one lap left, do you risk taking both of you out to win or do you sit on his bumper and let him take it?

i like to make little games in enduro's like at super speedway i aleays try to how many times i can get one of the cones coming out of the pits around the course:D
