It's been bothering me quite a lot recently. I've found that in the majority of the cars, the driving position appears to be too close to the steering wheel with the only available options being for even closer. They've spent months and months designing those interiors to perfection, shouldn't we be able to freely adjust the seat in order to find a driving position to our liking?

It's also puzzling how they managed to design/animate the hands of the driver in cars with paddles. He's holding the wheel like it's dirty and the game is cosntantly trying to predict what gear you'll change to resulting in taking tight turns with just one hand as if on a sunday cruise.

I know I'm going to be mocked for complaining about details but I find those issues to be very immersion-breaking. Anybody else that wishes some of this stuff got tweaked?

If the screen didn't shake so much then I'd use it.

What I dont like with the cockpit view sometimes is that my driver is a midget.. It really affect my planing. So when I must perform 100 % I choose the standard view. The view where you see nothing else but thee track and the data. I wish i could put my seat higher up in the car ;(

I tend to use the roof view more lol.

Try going into the settings for multi monitor. You can set it for single screen in the multimonitor settings. You can adjust camera angles in here. I havent messed with it extensively yet. I just noticed it a couple days ago.

I remember being able to adjust the FOV in Forza3 that way but when I tried in GT5 a few months ago I couldn't. Have they added more settings since then?

Edit: You were right, you can indeed adjust the FoV but I only seem to be able and make it narrower, bummer :/

Usually use bumper cam, but have really been getting into cockpit view with hud switched off lately.
It's a bit sucky with cars that don't have easily readable dials and no visible gear indicator though. Great with cars that do 👍

Somewhere there was an option (I think quick options) where you can change the settings from wide, extra wide, and one other option.

Every time I go to use it I have fun for 2 minutes, and then the shakiness annoys me and I stop.

Close ;) extra zoom, zoom, wide.

Im not sure as i just happened upon it late last week. Pretty sure my 430 scud has a better view after i fiddled with it some. Ill try to hop on later and check into it a little more

I knew it was something like that =P

Ive honestly never had an issue...and I usually drive the cockpit position. There is a few cars were you sit a little too close, but those cars are small more times than not. The shift anticipation is pretty annoying but many of the cars I drive are paddles so....would be nice to have at least 2 interior views like Shift (I think) had.

If everyone complains about the cockpit view and never use it, then why keep complaining about the standard cars?

People complains a lot.

Sadly, You still can't go past 100% viewing angle :/

To answer op question. I enjoy it. Def. Slower for me but more fun.

So true about complainers.

Bumper cam = moving up and down with braking/accelerating

Roof cam = stable during braking/accelerating

You can change views during the race, too. Just hit enter and slide over to the quick options.

Cockpit view is a bit restrictive for me. I like to use it on some premium cars, but as other have stated, I feel crammed against the steering wheel. In many cars, I can't see the side mirror and the rear view mirror at the same time even.

The shaky screen without motion in real life gives me a headache. I like the rooftop view. I can still get a sense of where the car physically is ( I have a hard time doing that in bumper cam).

It was originally wide, extra wide, can't remember the third name though.
At least in NTSC spec, an update changed it at some point to zoom.

i don't like it

i race super gt online a lot and the cockpit view is so freaking limited by the window banners and the a-pillar, you cant even see where you are going to apex.

Did not know this. My post wasnt meant to be rude if it came off that way.

I use it on nearly every premium I have, with HUD and data turned off. I find it distracting to have all that stuff up on screen, and for the cars where I have trouble with FOV (Maserati, for example...can't see half of the rear view or passenger side mirror at all) I use the look right/left to look around the cockpit. I don't use rear look, partly because it's disorienting to me, but mostly because there is no such thing in real life haha.

The only premium I don't use the cockpit view for an NSX I run for Super GT500 races. The A-Pillar blind spot makes it impossible to hit an apex on a right-hander.

Still using a DS3, with throttle and brake on R/L2 and shifting on the right stick, so I look left and right with the right stick also. I was a dog on the track when I first switched to this setup but I'll never go back now!

No, I'm with the OP on this one, they could really implement more manual flexibility to give the user his personal preference. It's highly unrealistic with the pillars and dash to take up so much viewing angle, cause in real life you're focusing outward (over the dash and around the pillars), so you'd never constantly have the entire cockpit in view.

And yes the worst of all is the super annoying delayed motions of the driver, and the wheel, I mean I'm the freaking driver and can see my own arms and wheel moving, it's not helping with realism at all. This is why I've always been a bumper cam fan, which in my opinion is actually the most realistic position, but I do wish I could get the feeling and SFX of being in the car without robbing my overall vision.

The exterior textures, lighting, and graphics are still much better quality on the premiums, but I see your point . I drive best on the cockpit. I cant drive bumper cam or hood/roof cam like everyone else does. If I dont use the chase cam (my other view), I use cockpit.

I find cockpit view quite nice but I do wish the driving position was higher in some cars and more importantly, THAT I COULD SEE THE 🤬 DIALS !
