Heres my completed cockpit : Dual setup - twin DFP's - PS2 based (for the time being) 5.1 surround sound w. subwoofer (behind the seats) - dual cupholders - 8GB Mp3 Jukebox (chalk full of racing music) - 50 inch Plasma 720p/1080i TV - hooked up using component cable. Scratch built and designed by myself (no master carpenter) as an early 30th birthday present. Time to start sharpening my racing skills - and posting some lap times on the board.

Nice work! Happy Bday too

Yeah Hook up a PC and play some SIM racers ;)

Congratulations, man, looks pretty sweet. I have that same set of Logitech speakers, they're pretty good.

Nice work, I would like to something like this someday if I ever have the space to put it.

u gonna upgrade those dfp's some day i presume? Being more pc sim oriented, i would have done things differently (space for gated shifter etc). other than that,

Swapped out a DFP for a G27 - rebuilt the centre console to accomodate the shifter. XBox 360 is now the righthand drive position but the wheel is removable to play head-to-head with the lefty in PS2 & PS3 mode. Hey - I added a roof!

Dude that's insane and awesome and I want to play in it right now. NOW.

You get a million extra points for the Xarcade mame (presumably) setup. Wowzers.

Your basement is where people like me go when they die.

Very nice 👍👍

So what is the next project your wife wants you to work on ?

I just have a playseat evo/G25 sitting in front of my 42 inch HDTV :grumpy::lol:

See you on track!

Nice touch adding a top it makes it looks stellar. Where are the cup holders? Gotta have the cup holders:cheers:

Cup holders have been moved to the sides - they were in the old center stand but since the introduction of the shifter - they had to go on the flanks. They are the black squares near the "doorway"

I think finishing my basement around the project is next on my list - haha

My basement is ghetto
Its like a Bentley parked in Government housing area.

Really NICE!!! 👍 I know it must have took some serious effort, so my hat is off for you

I'm thinking maybe two PS3 and two monitors so you can go head to head online with a buddy. 💡

I was thinking of that angle but after a year of use of the 50 inch plasma - I don't think I could go smaller. The hood view from Forza is extremely life-like.

Thanks.

Always liked this as it was different and well finished. Nice work with the new roof as well.

What do you find the most pleasing aspect of the cockpit, comfort, looks and did you use the 2player functionality much?

I would have to say comfort - it looks like a basement Yugo. The 2 player function is only really used when we have friends over or are hosting a party at our house - in a year I have used the 2p function about 4 times! That was the primary reason to upgrade to an Xbox (with Forza 2 & 3) and slot that into the P2 seat area. I can resort back to a DFP when a second PS player is onscene. I just upgraded my warped Ford Focus seat (P1 position) with a newer Focus ZX5 seat - its more sporty and has better back/side support. My trip to the junkyard was a success! Even though it looks nearly complete - like a regular car - I am constantly tinkering with it and making adjustments.

The double seats thing really makes it look quite realistic, never considered that approach, but if I had the room I'd definately go down that route, nice work.
