So ever since I moved in with my girlfried a year ago her 5 year old son has been begging me to teach him to race. I have 2 real race cars and play GT5 and Forza in the evening when not workin on the real cars. Unfortunately, the way I was racing before, putting the wheel on an old tray and pedals on the floor, just didnt work for him since he's 5 and couldnt reach.

We went out and got a couple of 2x4's over the weekend and went to work.

Here is the initial build with him testing it to make sure it fits him.

And here it is setup in the corner of the play area with a 32" 1080p Vizio unit and Audiotechnica A-700 headphones.

Were gonna pick up some 5/8" MDF this weekend and rebuild the pedal stand so it sits completely flush and is very solid. We're also going to box the cockpit in and paint it red and black

That look really simple 👍... What was your total cost? I might be making something similar...

As far as materials go. I bought 3 2x4's at like $3 each a box of 3" screws at about $6 and then the brackets were $2 each and i bought 10 of those so the cost of materials was right at $40. Ill be spending another $20 this weekend on the 5/8 MDF making the cost $60.

The TV I had in storage since I moved in so there was no cost there, but I think I paid $300 originally for it. I got the Seat from a buddy as payment for helping him move, but I think he paid like $50 for it origianlly.

Im looking at getting some shakers for it as well so that'll be another $55.

Im not going crazy with it because I have a donor car that I want to cut up to make a realistic cockpit with, but dont have space or the time or money to do it right now. We are in the midst or remodeling the kitchen and laying tile in the house so not much time for fun stuff. Just threw something together to entertain the kid. Probably took me no more than 2 hours to build the whole thing and set it up

Very well done. Not only for the rig, but the enjoyment you are bringing to the little guy. That's great stuff! And I'll bet you get a kick out of watching him race as well.

Very nice 👍

My kids never took a real intrest in simracing especially after i upgraded to a loadcell brake, it became too difficult for them.

But even before that, they never took the spare G25 out of the closet, too bad because i would have loved to build a rig for them :)

Why he no get to use G25/27 sitting in middle of floor? Poor deprived boy:guilty:. Nice setup:sly:. Do you get to use it or has he taken it over:nervous:.

Lmao! I dig the carseat! Matter of fact, that's what my grandson needs. (He's 2 and a half and can keep the car on the road already)

Awesome work there 1stlsx, I bet that little boy is stoked now. Efforts like that will change his life in a very positive way. My kids are all grown up now but positive ideas I had when they were young made them the men they are now. Kudos to you sir!
