so,

i just found out something, what keeps me wondering.

as long time ago somebody posted the trick, how to get cockpit view with the Photomod, i realized, that there has to be a way, to get the view while driving/racing.

cause, if you check this, you will find out, that PD was thinking about Cokpit view, but didnt put it in. :"The a car, i did it with the Audi R8, and choose the roof cam, and just drive slowly, and look in the side mirrors. you can see, that they show you EVERYTHING what is behind you.
Like the mirror in the Bumber cam doesnt show building or anything, the mirrors on the car really show you EVERYTHING."

that means in my opinion, PD was thinking about cockpit view, probably had it (like the one in Toca Race Driver 2) and then deleted it.

so, i will be trying to get everything out and get the cockpit view.

May just be that they were trying to add that little bit more detail, though they could've been thinking of it and pulled it at the last minute...we all know they're good at that

yeah, youre right, but i think, there is the glitch about the cockpit view in photomode, then there has to be the glitch for cokcpit view during driving, even though everything will be black, i wouldnt mind it...

we have to try and get everything out of gt4 and the cockpit view

It's bumper, not bumber. And the mirror in FPV does show the buildings, they just tend to pop in and out a little ahead of the closer items.

whats this photo mode glitch?

the glitch is as followed:you drive in photomode, you take a car your choice, take it to any race track your choice, and you drive around, and then, when you watch the replay, select the bumPer (duke ;) ) view, and then press select and take the shot. Save the shot as a FILM, go to your home into photolog, and develop that pic, you will see cockpit view!

guys, there has to be a way to get the cockpit view out of that game!!:sly:

I'm wondering myself if there is a cockpit view because do you know how interesting the game would be if someone actually found a way to use the cockpit while driving/racing in the game even if it were in only Arcade mode?? But I do agree, someone out there somewhere has to have figured out or maybe hasn't how to get cockpit view. I think it can be acheived using Game Shark...but again, that's me :sly:

i think, it could be done also with out gameshark, cause for the photo's you dont need the gameshark to get to the cockpit view.

i even think, that some japanese GT freaks figuerd already out, how to do this.

or, we just need to find that dude, how discoverd the photomode glitch. maybe he got some infos.

Hope somebody sees that, and is helping me out...:)

OK, did this and when I developed my film I saw the bonnet (hood) of my car.

I suppose this is what I'm supposed to be seeing?

Also, it seems to work when you take the picture from the bonnet (hood) view rather than the bumper view. (I'm on PAL by-the-way.)

hhmmm, normaly you should see the whole cockpit, just everything black.

but do this. take a convertable, (Mercedes Sl 55 AMG) and do the same.

then you can see EVERYTHING. gauges..all of it. have fun

why is nobody posting about the cockpit view during driving anymore??

cause we cant get it to work? i dunno. i had a go at you instructions. i follewed them verbatim, and the only thing i got as result of "developing that film" was the same view of the road.

I'll give it a crack! :)

*EDIT* - When I do it all I get is the same bonnet (hood) view that I got earlier.

And again, I don't get this from the bumper cam but the bonnet cam - the same view available when actually driving the car.

Can you chuck up a pic of the gauges in the SL 55?

Also, or you on NTSC or PAL?

You are only going to see the gauges and a detailed interior whenever you do it with a convertible or a car that has the interior modeled. Probably the only non-convertible ones that will work are ones that appear in the garage with the doors open like the Toyota Sera and M-B 300SL.

Coincidentally, the two cars I've tried are the SL 55 that was mentioned and the Gullwing Merc.

No luck with either. :indiff:

As mentioned, I can get a bonnet to appear that wasn't present when I took the photograph, but no there are gauges to be seen.

This is what I've got - the first is the bonnet of the 300 SL, the second the SL 55:

The SL 55 looks :yuck: and it's hard to make a shape out of the blur, but it interestingly has also affected the sky or the top of the picture - is this supposed to be the top of the windscreen?...

*EDIT* - now that I look a bit more closely I can make out the emblem on the steering wheel, the drivers hand and what looks like air vents in the dash board. I'm going to play around with focussing to see what I can get!

*EDIT 2* - OK, played around a bit with the focus, but there isn't mcuh room to move. It's either refocus the picture to make it clear, or leave it blurry when you take it. I tried both methods and both return an equally blurry cockpit. :grumpy:

Christhedude, how did you get the F1 picture so clear?

Also, the dark section at the top of the picture of the SL 55 is the rear-view mirror.

Keeping with the subject here...I just have to say that all you GT4 players are right. Think about it for a minute...IF you can get cokcpit view out of some / most of the cars in Photomode, then logically, there has to be a way of making this possible during a Race, Family Cup, Track Meet, Practice, Time Trial, or maybe only done in Arcade Mode, but whatever the case may be, then, the only logical explanation is that there must be a cockpit view. For all you regulars out there, I know how this sounds from a new comer to the site and all but I have played my fair share of racing games with different views and stuff and almost every racing simulation game I have played has a form of cokpit view in some fasion in a particular mode of the game(s). Read what everyone has said and put it all together, people are getting the view and yet some aren't. However, the majority seems to be winning that there is a cockpit view. Some of you are not resting until you have found or maybe unlocked the view.

Yet, if I may say so, since the creators were trying to make a quote "a real racing simulation" game, then, someone, somewhere during the making of the game had to of incorporated the view, in some fasion, into the game.

One way or another most of you will find it or stumble upon it. If you do, please share with the rest of us because such-a-view in the game would bring a sense of realism into the game where the realism is lacking, ie-no physical damage (which is my favourite thing in a racing game).

But good luck to those who are dedicated to finding this view.

Thanks for your time. :sly:

i took now a pic of my SL55 :

and here is the cockpit view of my lovly FORD GT40

there was a way to get exactly into the drivers position, but i forgot how to do that. i will find it out:)

EDIT: even, you dont see anything in the fort gt40 pic, i would love to driven even in that view a race! even though with out any gauges, i would love it. :)

this deviates from the topic a bit, but i saw a video of Vision GT and in one scene they showed a beauutiful cockpit view.. i hope they dont take that feature out, it looked amazing

i saw that too, but i didn't see any gauges or other instruments.

back to the topic, i just discoverd something wierd, while watching a reply of driving...it seemed, i'm getting to be able to watch a reply in cockpit view!!!

Christhedude
Can you layout the exact steps you followed to get this shot.

As you can see above, mine comes out all blurred. What am I doing wrong? Is it a focus thing? Do you refocus the camera when you take the photo, adjust the shutter speed or anything like that?

Can someone post a link to the video of the Vision GT cockpit view please? Thanks...
@FerrariChris - Try upping the shutter speed

chris, try to focus with square, and then focus fully, and pu the shutter speed up tp 4000, then it should get perfect. i tool my pic with 2000

This is crazy. I tried to get this to work last night, but it wouldn't, but when I tired today, this is what I came up with. :)

Ah yes, it's all in the shutter speed.

This one I took by refocusing the camera and cranking the shutter speed to 1/4000.

Care to elaborate on that one please? I wanna try it!

Wow, that Photo Mode trick works beautifully.

I just did it with my 350Z convertible on Grand Valley, took a shot as mentioned above, as I was going across the bridge.

When I developed it in the Garage, I could see everything.. the dash, the driver.. he was even shifting, so his right hand was off the wheel. You could see the tachometer at the redline. And that car's got sat-nav!! You could see the little sat-nav picture on the dash, and the dot was over water!

Pity the camera isn't quite set up for it.. I'd love to have some motion blur in there, to see the track whizzing by.

I wish I had a compatible USB stick... :(

For those of you interested, here is a picture of my TVR Griffith. It's in the middle of a big slide, and he is even downshifting! :dopey:
