I couldn't find a thread on this topic...

Any opinions on what is the best cockpit view to use? I had been using the standard view however I changed to the narrow view last night and really prefer it. It gives you more visibility out the windscreen plus the dash is closer and easier to read (I hope PD add an option to remove the HUD).

I'm using a wheel with a stand so the sensation of being in the car seems to be best with the narrow view.

What is everyone else using?

On normal Cars i use the one furthest away. when in a proper racing car the front seems to far away to see so i put it to the middle one so i can see the road better. lol

I am using the narrow view as well, mostly because my tv is not that large (26 inches) so even though I am sitting rather close to it - I still prefer to be able to see as much of the road as possible.
The 'extra' narrow view is too much though, as the cars interior almost disapears :)

Any advice about improving the sound when playing in cockpit view? The engine is almost entirely inaudible when I'm playing in that view. It's so bad that a lot of the time I play from the rear overhead shot just so I can hear the car.

This is not cool, I'm quite disappointed:tdown:

Turn up the volume :).

I must admit that I can't recognize that problem at all. I play exclusively in cockpit view (barring a few brief excursions in standard cars) and while AI cars during races are perhaps a tad too loud compared to your own (and I don't think there are separate volume sliders in the options for your own and AI engines?), I otherwise have no problem at all hearing my engine in any of the premium cars I've driven (probably 40+ of them by now), whether in stock versions or with assorted performance upgrades.

I use headphones by the way (Sennheiser HD 650, so pretty expensive headphones, but I can't see how even a cheap pair - or speakers in any price range - should somehow drown out engine sounds?).

I believe I saw in the menu an option to choose the sound, it was the first time I played the game and I haven't looked again in there, but I remember I chose the small home theater or home cinema???, in the description it said that if it wasn't the right choice you might not hear all the sounds.
I have my ps3 plugged to a home cinema 5.1
