There is alot of debate going on about which one is better, or what is your favourite of the two games, since they're similar in a few ways. plus Dice announced BFBC2 as MW2 killer. In this thread you can say which is your favourite and why, but it's mainly for comparison between the two. Not just: "BFBC2 roxxx!! itz haz vehiclez!!1" a little bit more constructive please hehe. ;) Also, I want to know which dev. team did a better job on the objective things, like getting the gun sounds correct (reloading, shooting etc), or the graphics, something along those lines. When I started playing MW2, what I disliked were the sounds. Some guns sounded a little too "plastic" for me. I don't know if that's accurate IRL. So that's something I really want to know, since the weapons excist in real life.

What I don't want obviously is a flame war, so keep things as objective as possible, and your opinion your opinion.

Nice one...! After I get a bit more playing time, I will give you a full out comparison... right now im heavily leaning towards BFBC2 since it incorporated the best features from MW2 and was able to mold them into BF flawlessly... which worked out great imo...

More to come! 👍

By sounds ,do you mean the soundtracks or the ingame sounds beacuse MW2 has some brilliant tracks by Hans Zimmer which were a great edition to the game

Oh and a video comparison will be nice, really usefull thread this might make me give BFBC2 a look.

Living next to a military base, I know how guns sound. And got to say BC2 nailed it.
I really like how online works (love (squad)rush).
Haven't played MW2 though.

It's not even a contest in my opinion. I had MW2 and was fun to play through a couple of times, but having fired guns in real life i was dissapointed with the laser precision of the guns in MW2. I feel this was done to have the game be more accessible to newbies but i really don't like it. After coming from K2 the game felt very stiff.

The sounds are unrivaled from BC2. I've never played a game with such fantastic audio samlples. I've fired plenty of guns in my life and that's as good as it gets for being only a game. Mw2's not so much..

Online...No contest, at least for me. After i started getting glitch killed every 10 seconds i never bothered to return online in MW2. Granted there are people who love to play this game online but BC2 is superior in that aspect. The maps are balanced very well, the vehicles are a great addition and very deadly in the right hands, it gives the game an awesome dynamic and i really like it.

Singleplayer: Mw is better in this aspect, although Cod4's story was better than MW2, both are better than Bc2.

Graphics: Well this one is tough. Both are very similar, facial textures are more refined on MW2 but BC2 isn't too far behind.

Not to start a flame war or piss anyone off but MW2 is a game for the masses, and BC2 is a game for people looking for an excellent alternative to MW. No heartbeat sensor's here, just good fun.

My 2 cents paid for in full.

I've gotten super frustrated with Cod, (cause I suck, the spawning and chirpers) but it's still very fun. I don't have bad company 2 yet and I never really was interested in it but recently I saw prviews and gameplay and I have to say, I think I'll enjoy the vehicles and the rest of the game more than CoD, but I haven't got the game yet. I'll hopefully get it with my new PS3 I'm going to buy once I start working in CO-OP.

Couldn't agree more with Havok, aside from the fact i think the BC2 storyline picks MW2's to the post... It's a great game with great graphics (at least on the PC version), great gameplay and amazing gun sounds.

Best shooter i've played this year.

I meant especially the gun sounds. Yeah I know, Hans Zimmer is pretty good, but sometimes it kinda bothered me in the level where you had to get to the other side of the garden before the white-house. I couldn't get passed it and the music was thesame all of the time, very depressing. I didn't like that bit hehe.
I haven't found a reasonable comparison video yet of the two games, but maybe I didn't search hard enough. But there are enough battlefield gameplay vids on youtube so I suggest that you check that out. 👍

Cool, looking forward to it! 👍

I've also read that BFBC2 is a more strategic/tactical game, and that you can run around in MW2 and not be sniped down or anything. And that it's way easier than BFBC2. I have MW2 and if I run around I'll get shot down in no-time. So it does have it's tactical side, I'd say. It's different from BFBC2 though, very.

I think I will pick up BF:BC 2. I have around 45 bucks in store credit for a local game store, so i'll use that.

For me it's all about the B-Company. I personally prefer a slightly more realistic approach, a slightly slower pace match up where you can actually survive encounters and for long periods of time without being an amazing player or super camper like you need to be in COD.

On COD the maps are very linear offering usually 2-3 real ways to get from one side of the map to the other, which basically means no matter where you go there's a large chance someone will be there. It's a game of reactions and the maps are generally just to damn small as it is to the point where you are killed from the same places, by people doing the same thing, and then you'll kill them the same way(s) you always kill someone who sits there. Many weapons are unbalanced and/or requires you to play differently to how you want to, you can rarely be a true sniper you just sit watching a certain small area at best and killstreaks can easily dominate a game which furthers the gap between good and bad players considerably making it an unfriendly game for newcomers, and experienced players focusing to much on them because you pretty much have to. I often find many people seem to confuse MW2 for something it's not, fun for long periods, it more often then not frustrates with stupid decisions making it less fun then previous installments, shotguns as secondaries for example or the infamous Commando, and the end result is often those who look for quick thrills will play these ways as with almost everything in the whole game, it's great if you have/do something but the victim has a terrible time out of anyones success.

Bad Company 2 on the other hand is a slower more tactical experience without being to realistic, teamwork is key and you don't need to know every single tiny area on the map and there are simply so many ways to get a job done. The focus is largely on objective based gameplay and that combined with not focusing on streaks, not giving you your kills/deaths mid game, not massively rewarding such things, means people play to those objectives more often then not. There's also things which are incredibly annoying on MW2 are fine in BC2, you don't feel like you've been killed cheaply when a shotgun gets you, when a grenade launcher kills you, infact there is only one real annoyance which pops up in both. Camping can easily become an issue, particularly snipers camping on the ATTACKING side of some game modes, but it's as easy to avoid as quitting the game (which loses you nothing) to find a better one and often it's more annoying being with those people rather then against as well as not occuring more often.

Atmospherically speaking Bad Company is also on another level, combine brilliant sound work, powerful but not overpowering vehicles, clever map design, slower feeling of movement and not to mention destructability, and the result is a more epic, more engaging and more rewarding experience. You feel like a bad ass when you win, even a hard fought loss, when you get just a few kills in succession, even when you take just one objective. On the flipside, even less skilled players can take more supporting roles and still be a valuable asset as teamwork is rewarded more over individual skill and that makes Bad Company 2 the thinking gamers first person shooter of the moment.

For a mindless free-for-all, more casual blast I can understand COD being an option, but for a more immersive, more epic, more rewarding, more tactical and often simply more fun to be had all around if you want to be immersed in a Battlefield, rather then a purpose built arena of death, Bad Company 2 has it hands down. It gets enough realism to reward skills such as team work and awareness in the thick of battle without being so realistic that more casual players are overwhelmed. I think focusing on campaign for either titles if a little foolish, neither game is focused on it but Dice has thought BC2 out more making everything more balanced.

Oh, and it actually works almost all of the time in my experience even though it's only been out a week, I've disconnected from games so far total compared to multiple times every session and I'm not being killed by 'magic bullets' every other death, or lagged into failure every other game. Not to mention I can actually played with friends outside my own region without being stuck on terrible connection mode which translate to death in COD.

i have CodMW2 on Pc, and for the first weeks see month, everything was fine. But after a certain time, things begin getting boring.
Always the same maps (rarely play in the favelas, which i love), granade launcher = noobgun,....
I'm not sure about the cheating thingys on pc, but after xmas i played it not as much anymore, every match people fuzzing each other beeing cheaters,... and kind of wierd that after a minute of gameplay, there are some people already boosting down with the ac103.
But it was fun for the time beeing, and still returning from time to time to get some cheaters on ice :D
And coop with friends is cool.
All in all MW2 is a great game, in sp as in mp, but sadly for the pc community, it's not watched over / monitored anymore. maybe because they all got fired and not paid!!!

Now BC2, i don't have it yet:scared::nervous:. Ordered it yesterday, probably getting it tommorrow (also for pc). tried the beta on ps3 and well, i'm eager to play it. I just hope that this time, dev and publisher will maintain pc gamers on the hook with anticheat measurements. Will return with my BC2 opinion

till then i MAG the poop out of the ps3

I do write some reviews in my spare time for my own little forum and I also post them on Gamespot (not that they get read often on either but still) so it's good to know I'm on the right lines with these things :).

Very nice, Dragonistic! Good writing. 👍 If I find the inspiration I'll do a piece on this subject myself too. 👍
I'll add you in my friends list maybe we can play together sometime. And that forum you have, is it a BF forum?

S3 Racer, why don't you buy BFBC2 for the PS3 then? No cheaters there as far as I know...

Having played both, at the moment i prefer bfbc2 to mw2 online. The larger maps and the rush/conquest game modes are a lot of fun. The only problem with bfbc2 online is the first weekend there were a lot of server problems with lag and games dropping, if they fix it, i will prefer it to MW2.

I think MW2 is better for jumping into a quick game. If the teams are balanced/even bfbc2 matches can last quite a while as they are massive maps, and without the vehicles it would be a pain to travel those distances. I just wish you could have more than 4 people in a squad, so it's hard to get a bunch of friends unless you want to play a private match (that i know of).

Graphics wise, mw2 is a lot smoother and better looking game IMO. The gameplay, sounds and overal experience is more enjoyable in bfbc2. I just wish bfbc2 had more weapon choices, and options, as mw2 has a lot of perks, and weapon attachments. The different classes in bfbc2 really help balance the game and can make or break the mission depending on the players and class choice.

MW2 lost its touch when a lot of glitching and spawn killing came into play, but it's only a matter of time before bfbc2 catches up. I really like the scale of bfbc2 maps. The vehicles can be a very deadly combination especially in Rush if the defending team is watching over the A/B objectives, they can blow up the building, and set up snipers/vehicles a little bit a way so when you try to plant a bomb you get destroyed. The buildings and enviornment destruction are a really nice touch. :)👍(played on xbox360)

It's a little forum for my team KDT, kind of like a casual clan we'll have an event every so often for whatever games people have. Nothing serious and still very small, but we almost always have myself and my wingman online at normal times every day on PSN although we all do our own thing for the most part, us 2 talk via text chat daily (he's recently bought Bc2). As for the forum to be honest only 3 or so people check it regularly, it's almost a blog for myself at the moment with random bits and bobs for all games but just not to much posting. I'd love more people to use it but I'm not unhappy with just a couple of regulars. More people turn up to events, double figures, but we don't have a regular game yet for us all. Can't type more for now, on PS3
